i have this weird feeling that the woman from the future is in fact yoo kyung -_-
i could be wrong (maybe i'm forgetting something) but at this point other than the diary we only have HER word that she is who she says she is. the picture doesnt have to be hers for her to have it. that being said it's pretty unlikely she'd be refering to kim as "yobol" if they werent married. in drama land that seems to be restricted to married people.
in a dramascape filled with predictablity this is really refreshing. very rarely do asian dramas leave me guessing, even if i'm not sure of the specifics the general flow is usually pretty obvious, esp in romcoms. even if she doesnt end up with sejoo it's not glaringly obvious that the cookie will crumble that way. at this point i am equally torn b/w "the 2nd lead never gets the chick" and "they are totally setting things up for that to be a possibility."
i had steered clear of this for a while b/c everything i read/saw made it seem a little too cutsey/cheesy for me. i am plesantly surprised that the description was a bit off.
Okay, this bothered me all night and I was even thinking about it as I was walking into work this morning, but…
i agree, but i'm actually hoping they did that on purpose. i get tired of the unrealistically innocent, kind and optimistic female leads that are all over k-drama like white on rice. as for the fight with the sister, that's not really the charcater, that's just lazy writing and the idiot plot device. they only explination for flying halfway across the world with out so much as a phone call to the person you expect to be leeching off of is you're an idiot.
i thought the english was quite good by k-drama standards. the sentences made sense, were gramtically correct and most native english speakers would not have needed subtitles to understand what they were saying.
just for the sake of differing opinons, i found this drama to be soooo boring. i'm stalled on episode 17 and it was a chore to get that far. the supporting cast and their characters are fantastic and the only thing that carried me 17 episodes. the leads are tiresome and i dont find them engaging at all, which makes the cliches unbearable.
i really liked this drama. however, they built up a lot of momentum and instead of a spectacular last few episodes they busted out the cliché bag and ended with a quite gasp.
yea, half the asian drama watching community is hilariously butthurt over an american remake, and i'm the one being over dramatic for suggesting everyone chill and at least wait until there is something on film to despise before despising it.
gossip girl, Glee,90210 and the like are not the sum total of american television. there are a lot of really great…
as much as i love asain drama there are definately somethings i dont love (like the insinuation that women WANT to be grabbed and dragged all over the place despite their protests or the over idealization of 'innocent' girls)and if this is done well i'm thinking "best of both worlds!"
Why can actual high schoolers play in an High School tv-show in the US? I know asians look young in their twenties…
1st, the setting of this rebot is not highschool, rather grad school, so older acotrs make sense. 2nd america has laws about how many hours a teenager can work. 6 hrs a day/20 a week is about avg,in many states there a curfews past which they are not allowed to work but it varies state to state. in america the avg actor playing a teen on tv is 20-25. those who are in their early 30's seriously dont look it. i would have never guessed the recently deceased Corey Monelith was 31.
gossip girl, Glee,90210 and the like are not the sum total of american television. there are a lot of really great programs being produced in america, now and in the past. broadcast cable is the lowest common denominator. judging all american productions by what you see on the big networks is like going to kindergarten book fair and then saying all american literature is childish. Boys over flowers, (which i like) in all it's incarnations suffered from bouts of horrible acting, cheesy plotlines, not to mention disgracefully promoted mental and physical abuse. it was never high theater, it was never great art, it was never astounding cinema. it was simply entertaining. it is a frilly fluffy ridiculous love story aimed at teenage girls. you dont have to watch, you dont have to even give it a chance but i really wish people would stop acting like Wellkinn is ruining a masterpeice.
