I’m so glad that the backstory of HaoQing choosing between Yunhe and HuaHua(the little pet of HaoQing) was not that cruel.
In the novel, his father made HaoQing kill HuaHua himself and made him eat it after. It was so disgusting and from that moment on, I swear I did not even care about the meanings behind the dialogues of his father. I only considered that old man’s words as garbage being thrown out by a trash can from then on. I dont even want to remember nor mention his name.
2ndSpoiler : The disgusting father would die later “soon” “in the novel” and is actually killed by his own son, HaoQing.
There was also a theory that stated EP1 happened like this:
BulgaLady tried to save Dan Sol and A’Chan before they got killed by Dark Hole.
>This was proven when Dan Sol already had a bleeding wound on her neck (like a bite) . She wouldnt have been able to run away from Dark Hole if no one helped her.
But she wasnt able to defeat Dark Hole and fell unconscious because she doesnt drink blood.
And thenafter waking up, BulgaLady saw Hwal holding AChan and; Dan Sol’s dead body on the ground. She immediately thought that Hwal was the one who killed them both. So she was unable to control her emotions nor was she able to think right because of what happened 1000yrs ago(Hwal massacred the villagers)- and so she stabbed him.
>This was proven by BulgaLady’s shocked face after stabbing him. Which meant she didnt plan about stabbing him.
I remember Mimi was very genuine towards changge despite her initial spy background. She took very good care of changge when she needed it, accompanied her in her small tent, and didnt hurt her. She was also always grateful and tried her best to compensate the kindness changge gifted her even though changge didnt expect anything from her. Like a butterfly that was nurtured and came out beautifully of its initial hard shell- mimi changed, regretted, and was sincere towards her actions till the very end. Just like our earnest, straightforward and supportive little butterfly, Loulou. Loulou and Mimi could become best friends or they may even be twins! ♡
I am sorry I replied so late, I had to eat lunch. XD
Yunhe was much lonelier in the novel and so I love how in the drama, she is able to freely express her thoughts with the existence of loulou/jinsang. In the novel, she was so lonely keeping all her thoughts and plans (nomatter dirty or good) only to herself most of the time. The drama didnt exactly remove all of that loneliness. This is depicted through the scenes where loulou, sometimes doesn't exactly understand Yunhe's intentions towards Changyi.
ChangYi too, gained more momentum in his character growth through the additional lines with Yunhe unlike in the novel where he mostly stayed silent. Also, he was more honest and open about his feelings of love about Yunhe in the drama- a direction much more acdepted by the general viewers in the dramaland. Moreover, Changyi’s integrity did not disappear since he’s still so very firm in abiding by his principles.
In the drama, I understand that you empathise and side with Changyi more than Yunhe since he is indeed someone innocent in love, and a "victim" of "white" lies. But with Yunhe's thoughts and actions upto EP8 showing her deep concern for Changyi slowly coming into place, you will definitely start to sympathise with her very soon too. My point was that nothing in Changyi nor Yunhe really was considered too different from the novel. So the drama right now, has done a very good serialization of the novel.
Their relationship are like a wall made of bricks between them in which lies are used to cement it in place. Yunhe is the carpenter. If yunhe stops, she wouldnt be able to protect Changyi but he will finally be far away from her. Yet if she continues to put cement, Yunhe is dragging him far away from the freedom she wants Changyi to have but she gets to spend more time with him. Yunhe doesnt know that Changyi is also building a wall together with her. That wall is built inside her instead. The wall of sincerity that replaced the cemented lies.
Changyi: "Ji means discipline?. Your father's surname does not suit you. You should have the surname Wind. "Feng" Yunhe. You should be as free and unrestrained as the wind." -Chapter 16
These two lines made me drown in an overwhelming desire to bawl my eyes out. I couldn't get the tears out out because I realized that their life deserved more than pity and tears. The freedom that they wanted so much is too little of a gift for their amazing determination to live and to love. I hate the fact that they both think freedom is a prize that they needed to work hard for. Their freedom should never be called "Well-earned" but should be "What is Due".
As I continued to read the novel and everytime I reach the end of each chapter, I also kept on uttering these two words, "Just. When?." Just when will they finally get what is due for them. What will await for them as they journey together in that vast and cruel world?. Will Yunhe and Changyi even get it in the end? These questions are gut-wrenching for a reader to ask. But it will keep you hoping. And so it will keep you reading their story. Even despite all of that pain each words they say carries.
PS: "Ji". It's disgusting to even type . The one she got as a surname. "Ji" was a shackles worse than a prison. It kept Yunhe from reaching what she dreams about. If you want to start reading the novel, I believe you would also see "Ji" as a piece of garbage- the type that shouldnt even be recycled. From now on, I think I will only mention her as "Yunhe". Sorry for the rant, I just had to take these feelings out.
What a painful story about people succumbing to kindness but still experience a painful life in the end. This just shows how sometimes, your ignorance on the greed of the people around you can negatively affect and put you in a difficult situation too. Their beautiful bones made them miserable. *im crying again*
Now time to go to forever and ever!! Thank god I finished this when forever and ever is already done or else Id be crying my eyes out all day.
PS: Can someone please send me to Jin Rong and let me kill him by dismembering him too. :))
I really hope it won’t disappoint…I heard there is a change in the director incharge and also scandals related to some of the casts…
So I think keeping all of the casts as the same may be difficult to do for the arthdal production teams, so I’ll just try to keep my expectations low. >…<
