I know they are different characters but it doesn't sit right with me seeing Yamapi and Masami in a drama but one of them(Masami) is not the lead. Especially if you want to watch this drama after seeing Proposal Daisakusen.
How he died was not explain but from what we saw after, I'm gonna guess he died from a plane crash. He mentioned he was leaving New Zealand to Korea again to be with Bo Ra.
Edit: I have a new theory now. If he had died in a plane crash from New Zealand to South Korea, it would have made the news. She would have probably saw and seen his name as one of the passengers on board that passed away. So I'm gonna guess he died in some accident in New Zealand.
So the FL loves the doctor but now his spirit is transported to the 18 year old student while the student's spirit is transported to the FL lover's body. So if she still falls in love with the doctor/ML's body not knowing it is not him, wouldn't she be cheating? Then again she should fall in love with the student because that's where the spirit of her lover is in now but it would look weird to see her in love with her student even though her lover's spirit is inside him.
Haven't finished the drama yet but one thing that bothered me. The FL and SML had their wedding and she was approved to marry him because she was "pregnant" with his child. They only accepted her because she was pregnant otherwise it was a no. The FL and SML lied to his mother about the pregnancy so they can get married. The SML's family is a rich historic known family. How were they easily fooled by this? Did they not bother to ask them to show proof or go with them to the doctors together?
The thing I remember about this drama before I dropped realizing there 100 episodes and it would dragggggggggggg, was how the FL's story got me hooked until I kind of saw how the next events would follow. But if they incorporated some parts of the story like her's into a normal Kdrama length(16 episodes), I would be interested in watching.
If you have spare time and like crime dramas, go ahead and give this a try. It lacked a main plot tho. The writing down the stretch was noticeably bad. I didn't understand why some of the NCI team members weren't at the scene helping the others.
My big issue with the drama was the pacing and character development. I wished they had slowed down after solving a case then transitioning to the next one so quickly. The character development was weak for Nana, Min Young, and Lee Han. I think they should have done character focused episodes related to a case. Let's say they are solving a kidnaping case. Pretend that Min Young can strongly relate to kidnaping cases so she is determined to solve it. Then introduce some backstory of her whether she was a victim of it before or strong connection to kids. We needed more backstory about those 3. Let us see them grow and shine in solving the cases. Let them take turns to be the star of some episodes.
I dropped it after 8 episodes. I really wanted to like it but couldn't. First 2 episodes I liked. ML going to the past I didn't like. I wonder if this was made into a movie instead to speed up the pace, maybe I would have continued watching. It just felt slow or filler.
I dropped the drama at the halfway point. I very much agree with your idea. After reading spoilers of how it ended, that was not the way I would have liked it to end. I like yours better. Why can't he and his family work things out in the present instead of him having to go to the past to change things so it can work out for him in the present. They coukd have him go to the past still but it being a learning experience for him at the end as you said. The past can't be changed but he understands their situation better and somehow they agree to him following his journey in music. Idk
By the way, did the ML's father can now hear again in the end or still deaf after the ML went to the past?
I dropped the drama after 8 and a half episodes. Most of my thoughts of why I didnt enjoy the drama are similar to your points. Before watching, I had high expectations for this seeing the rating of a 9.2 on MDL. Also I saw people recommending/comparing this to 25 21.
I liked the ML and his family in the first 2 episodes. It was such a different situation to watch in a Kdrama. I kind of wished they would not add in the fantasy element of him going to the past. I wanted to see how his current life would fix his issue of wanting to be himself more in his interest of music.
I didnt like the pacing and plot when he was teleported to the past. It just felt slow and filler. The over dramatic comedy was not to my liking. I didnt expect this much comedy because comedy was not tagged for this drama.
I can kind of understand he is in the past to keep his parents from falling for each other but he will prevent his father's accident where he became deaf. So everything just feels on hold until it happens. Then the FL's reason to enter the past is uninteresting to me as well. She wanted to die/not be born so she is trying have ML's father fall for her mother. All confusing when they have the same actress play both versions of mother and daughter.
I really wanted to like this but I couldn't even finish watching it.
