I did not see ep 5...why do you say this? From the begining i believed that kotori will be the romance interest…
i personally just interpreted any signs of him being a potential love interest as sana finding him interesting bc he brings a different perspective to her work environment... but in the first scene of ep 5, her sister assumes shes searching for shoes for someone she likes, and even though sana says she doesnt, she seems to be very affected in regards to kotori during the entire ep. it felt more pointed towards romantic interest than admiration

theres still a bylaw that forbids sexual relations between minors (under 18) and adults: https://ja.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E9%9D%92%E5%B0%91%E5%B9%B4%E4%BF%9D%E8%AD%B7%E8%82%B2%E6%88%90%E6%9D%A1%E4%BE%8B.

i assumed you interpreted my mention of not needing a "happy ending" as dramatically negative. i also never wrote that all age gap relationships are doomed to fail?? lmao you're literally just creating an argument with yourself. if it's a personal problem, just say that

the age of consent is 18 🧐 but law and age aside, it's really about the fact that shin is still in high school for me. he's literally in his uniform half the time... also i dont find it "dramatically negative"... i'm just not the kind of person who thinks a relationship is always the necessary "happy ending", and i think with this drama specifically, the age gap factors into why i think it's possible and not out of the question

from ep 1, ive had too much to say every week, but it's becoming too much.... in a good way lol

i honestly dont think i've ever been so infatuated with a drama? i find practically everything about it enjoyable. it's marketed as a summer romance, and the simple details really showcase that and make it feel like this perfect package. this drama also showcases things i've always romanticized but just never realized, like the community feel of a smaller town, living near the ocean, walking down a shopping street and making casual convo with someone you've known since you were a child, and the intense rush of summer... and i love how fast-paced this drama is. each ep isnt very long, but so much happens without ever making you feel like it's rushed? i'm not a fan of slow dramas where it feels like half of the scenes are just filler, so this pacing works for me.

obviously i was hesitant to watch this at first bc of the age gap, but i gave it a try bc im always trying to find smth to watch every drama season. i saw a few comments saying they're getting tired of things being repetitive, which i completely understand, but i feel like that works with the age gap they have going on. i'm in this place of feeling my heart beat out of my chest every time shin makes a move, but at the same time, hoping that's as far as it goes. i mean you have to appreciate someone who knows what they want and isn't afraid to go after it, and i guess it's a little frustrating to see shin get "shot down", but i appreciate it actually. i feel like mina is balancing being an adult even though he's never really grown up... which has become more evident since sakuma sensei came back into the picture. i feel like shin stimulates mina's growth, and i love that shin is in support of it as well. like i may not be hoping for that "happy ending" most people probably want, but i really appreciate this current back and forth they have rn and how it's actually helping the both of them.

lastly, i feel like takuya has grown so much as an actor due to this drama! he just always happens to be in dramas i watch, but he's never been a showstopper for me until now. also sho,,, WOW sho... every time i think about how he only debuted in 2020 puts me into shock. i haven't been so taken by someone's acting in such a long time, let alone from a kid who's only been doing this for like...less than 2 years? it makes me really excited to see where he'll go from here. i'll be really upset if he doesn't become big in the next few years bc he's so talented.

ah... i really want to talk about asuka too, but this is getting long. last thing i will say is that yea i think the only flaw for me is the casting for the teacher lol so off in terms of how the character looks in the manga and also the face doesnt match the personality...

maybe it's my fault for being set on the idea that kotori would only be a rival by being symbolic of sana's focus on work, rather than love.... but after ep 5, i feel like this drama isnt going where i thought it would lol it's not necessarily bad, but very different from what i had in mind, making it less interesting for me.... but we'll see how it ends
On Mahou no Rinobe Jul 21, 2022
first impression was that the cinematography style reminded me of tantei ga hayasugiru 2 and it turns out the directors are the same πŸ˜‚

i would say this drama isnt what i was expecting, but im enjoying it merely bc in practically all of the haru dramas ive watched, she's played someone who is very troubled by her work life or love life or ig life in general... this time's a little different

lastly... kind of interested in seeing the behind the scenes for this bc im sure they'll have used LOTS of sets by the finale lol
On Love with a Case Jul 20, 2022
was actually looking forward to this drama the most this season then slowly lost interest as i got more hooked on dramas that are on ep 3 this week... but this one isnt bad at all!! it's one of those dramas that make you think maybe japanese drama cinematography is finally evolving. also i'm wondering if the way they solve the cases will be the same in every ep? this first ep felt very....blue's clues but make it murder mystery lol

i am really enjoying this! as someone who was raised in the digital generation but loves analog, this could just…
also i find it funny that most of kou's scenes are just him looking at kotori jealously bc i never interpreted his character as being a love rival? i feel like kotori is supposed to symbolize sana's growth in her work... which ig that could compete with her growth in love πŸ‘€ i mean ig it would be nice if they made an ending where she balances work and life, but it also does seem likely that there actually wont be any development on the romance side, and the end will feature both kou and sana still stuck in this "we're mutually aware of our feelings for each other but arent dating" thing they've got going on currently
On Riding a Unicorn Jul 14, 2022
i am really enjoying this! as someone who was raised in the digital generation but loves analog, this could just be my bias, but i feel like this drama is trying to show that the modern, digital world cannot survive w/o some tactics that came from the analog world. we constantly say that older people need to update their mindsets, but sometimes the younger generation should learn from what made the older generation successful as well.

as soon as the plot summary of this drama i came out, it instantly reminded me of the american movie, the intern, which is not a bad thing at all bc i quite enjoyed that movie, but i feared i'd constantly compare this with the movie. however, while the first episode definitely has some parts that remind me of the intern, it's obvious there is more to the story.

i'm actually really looking forward to this drama and how it develops! i love meichan in general, as well as sugino in a role where his feelings for his love interest are more obvious (he pulls off those looks of longing so well), and i'm already loving the positive energy that nishijima hidetoshi's character is bringing to the table

tver's posting reruns of this drama, with perfect timing too bc nanba mg5 is about to end and i've been wanting to watch mamiyan in the role that introduced me to him.... but yea my comment 7 years ago about ryuji being a huge fucking baby still stands lmao it's actually sad and funny how he gave up water polo entirely just bc he couldnt handle not being in the spotlight for one second... and then he gets all drama, saying that hard work is meaningless or wtv, like dude you only lost one little match with a teammate....

I didn't intend to get invested in the love triangle too (mostly just watching it for Riku) but ep5 made me feel…
i kind of dont blame her for doubting him though, after what had happened in season 1... if anything, i was actually surprised she wasnt doubting him from the start πŸ€”

oh yea i forgot about the sp.. still have to watch that! i mean tbh this season doesnt actually feel that connected to season 1, like you can watch it w/o having seen season 1... so if they continue that, ig it works? it's just like what else can they do.. this season is already weird to me lol like a lady is just going to give ichika a bunch of money bc her mom saved that lady's life?? lol

aaah yes i love both of those scenes!! i also loved the part where he tries to console her by touching her hand and then he takes it back haha

oh sorry yes he was cleared of suspicion! i meant that since they had that little arc, it just adds more to why i think ichika deserves better lol

i do wonder if they'll make another season! i never expected a sequel from this drama to start with, so it's hard to tell if they'll go for a season three... i mean as funny as i find the drama, how far can you take the whole "my life is at stake bc people want my money" story πŸ˜‚

yes!!! may i ask if you have a fav subtle moment.... i hope this doesnt sound obsessive of me lmao!! but there was one scene in maybe ep 4? i cant even remember who was speaking to ichika, but they were at the bar and i think they were asking if she likes ohtani or if she has anyone she likes... and the camera panned to sosuke, and he looked up to listen in and he did a little blink and honestly it was soooo minor, but i repeated that scene like 10 times bc it was really cute to me πŸ₯ΊπŸ˜

I didn't intend to get invested in the love triangle too (mostly just watching it for Riku) but ep5 made me feel…
at first, i was also thinking that ichika wouldn't end up with anyone, but i think bc they did her dirty in season 1 by making her love interest turn against her, they're going to do smth different, esp bc they were making it seem like ohtani could be bad 😒

i feel like ichika doesnt really have feelings for sosuke yet, but we'll see in this next episode... as a viewer, sosuke seems like the better option bc we get more background on him but we'll see!

and yes, totally agree! i think the silent character type can get boring real fast, if not done well, but he's just a good enough level of weird (as ichika says) to be interesting, and i also think riku is just good at showing emotion in such a subtle manner... i appreciate that a lot
wasn't really expecting to get invested in the romance part of this drama, but now i am... i was team ohtani at first, but there's just smth about the silent longing sosuke does.... kind of reminds me of how much i liked hagiwara riku in 12 suicidal teens, despite not being the biggest fan of the movie and his lack of impact amongst such a strong cast.... just bc of that, i'd be a little disappointed if he's not endgame, but i really hope he does more roles like this!!

loved this week's episode!! ep 2 and 3 were kind of lacking for me... ep 2 bc fujita was literally willing to get nanba's ass beat just to pay her phone bill and nanba still likes her lmao?? and i felt like ep 3 was sped up? i get that manga moves slower than dramas, so ofc it's hard to do the really important scenes while maintaining the pacing, but it just felt weird to see daimaru so worked up over nanba living a double life when they got close like 5 minutes ago... there just wasn't enough background

i mean ep 4 has a bit of a pacing issue too (i'm also expecting this from here on out), but i loved the themes of this ep... smth about it took me back to what made me like mamiyan in the first place, his role in suikyuu yankees
