Hmmm personally thought it was pretty good from the start but didn't love it until ep10 and after. Guess that's when the story started to come together for me.

Wanted to watch this, but the reviews and comments are giving me second thoughts. Sounds like it was a great drama up until a certain point. Is it worth watching til then? Any advice appreciated !

Ahhh the bromance between Mark & LGX is baaaack. Wasn't too crazy about the last Detective Dee but watching this for Mark <3

Loved every bit of it, though cheesy at times but the story, characters and cinematography were all so beautiful <3 I can't believe it took me this long to watch this.

For a sec there, I was trying to figure who from Eternal Love is also in this drama. Ahah looks like we have the same tastes in dramas :)

Another vote for Go Princess Go!! That one had me in tears from laughing and some more... wish more C-dramas were as well directed and well acted (the female lead Crystal Zhang stole the show. She alone is worth watching). @Keikin mentioned other good recommendations.

Glamorous Imperial Concubine and Sound of the Desert are also worth watching. Sound of the Desert (good romance, strong female lead, amazing male leads) and Glamorous Imperial Concubine (good story, beautiful costumes)

Eternal Love is one of the best Chinese dramas I've ever seen. Ice Fantasy you can skip that one imo

Sigh though I'm happy for our OTP, one can't help but feel bad for Mo Yuan :( everything he does after he wakes up screams second lead lol. Very clever of the drama to make him the unexpected second lead here, when in the novel and especially here we're led to believe it's Li Jing. IMO the way things are set up it wasn't impossible for romance to develop out of the 'platonic' relationship between BQ-MY? but timing and fate wasn't on their side to let her explore it. Poor smexy shifu you still have me

All I wanted for early Christmas was an epilogue :( guess it wasn't in their plans considering the last 10 minutes was wrapping up the main OTP and side ones with slow dialogues. Hair envy is real! Loved Yang Mi's Bai Qian simple long hairstyle with nothing but a clip ...prefer that to the excessive hair accessories we usually see in C-dramas

LMAO yea this reminds me of Schemes of a Beauty where we feel butterflies, love the chemistry and root for the main OTP, who are both devoted to each other and their country. Then yay! she gets preggo and cue more honeymoon moments, cute kids and all THEN they grow up to be pieces of shit ..... :/ nothing like their parents. SIGH I feel like with Chinese dramas you can NEVER get the full deal, esp when baited to believe they will have a happy ever after

I do not recommend anyone to tackle this raw lol.. heck, even if one understands the language or with subs it gets hella confusing at times with the mythological concepts and all, but it's not at all impossible if you find yourself succumbing to addiction lol
