wow, simply wow. now that's a drama, that TRULY deserves the title of a black swan. no one saw this hit coming, and we are at 27,000 comments! like i don't remember any promos, don't remember any channels that i follow, mentioning this, and i could not even remember where i saw both leads prior to this. (you see, i still don't even remember their names! I will probably maybe eventually learn them.. maybe). this proves good script, great suspense story (to hell who cares about logic, i have never been the type to watch dramas coz they are logical. ) and good acting can totally win over pouring TONS of money into something else, only to have it ending poorly (no this is not snubbing that fox match, thingy. Funnily, i think of the longest promise.. i was so wanting to like that one, and it didn't work).
the last time, i felt emotionally that engaged with a drama, was either love between fairy and devil, 2 years ago, and the other one, blood of youth.
weekend!!!!!!! tomorrow late evening, my team is playing (UEFA EM 2024 we have scored enough already, to be in the next step, Achtelfinal, so hahhaha no worries, and no really fear watching tomorrow's match) , other than that FREE TIME! i can rewatch the entire series! yay!
if someone knowledgeable about the c-ent industry is here, could you please explain to me, when a drama is classified as an "S-Drama"? are the websites (in Chinese) outside in the wild, where the production costs of the dramas is published? i understand that probably if you have expensive stars does that automatically qualify their dramas in which they participate, as S-drama? (idols /stars means hot at the moment - being bashed and criticized the next, somewhat feeling sorry for c-stars, but I guess, k-stars and j-stars and so on don't fare better? )
the visuals are just like wow. and the costumes are also up to par, and gorgeous. sadly, even with the beauty of yang mi and gong jun, I am not able to fast-forward through this story, coz I don't even understand the story . i am sorry for them, all the actors surely did their best, and feel sorry for the investors. who ever butchered the storytelling, cutting and so on..well may you go back to filming school, and see how it can be better done.
ähh, "the original" or first filming of that drama, is probably like 50 years old, and was from the 70s , and…
well, me too, but then i am totally biased, coz back then, i was a toddler, watched it with my chinese grandfather, via vhs tapes, LOL. thats how i learned to speak and understand cantonese.
its been like 40 years since barbara yung commited suicide , i guess, i will never get over her death. what a cruel waste of her talent.
Anyone who is familiar with "The Condor Trilogy", how is this one so far? I heard that some of main characters…
well, i was born 1979, so my most beloved version are those from TVB from hongkong in the 80s.
here, they skipped lots of background stories and charater development, but thats just my impression. its nice to look at, and i will continue, but i am having a hard time connecting emotionally with any of the characters.
Dropped it :(I had high hopes...i really wish it could get better so that i would pick it up again
well, you could just try to come back, when they finish these 30 eps, and see, if the storytelling of the elder generation of those martial art masters is any better :) after all, its 60 eps, and only half of them, is spend on these two main couples.
I am glad I am not familiar with the original. so I am enjoying it so far.
ähh, "the original" or first filming of that drama, is probably like 50 years old, and was from the 70s , and made in hongkong.# i doubt, majority of fans, stans, and stalkers and watchers and readers at MDL were born back then.
Is it me or does Ci Sha looks like a younger version of Hu Ge? On another note...started this and watched 4 episodes…
actually, yeah, they both share somewhat similar features, though to be honest, i feel like the Ci Sha looks more... i dont know. more manly than Hu Ge at that age?
As a re-made after so many, this drama tries to fit in all the important plot points. ;) Good nite.
Yeah well, but do you feel and care for the Charakters? I think Part of the fun of novel stories and movies and Dramas, its about immersion. I want to love and hate and cry and suffer and feel joy with and for the fictional characters. Here its near impossible.
ok, i will keep on watching this, though i totally see, and predict, we are not going over a 1000 comments here. i took a break from the double today, to catch up the first five eps, and now really have watching this, my verdict is: its very ambivalent. on the one hand, I love the coloring of the drama, and the entire more or less, kind of old school look?
i like Guo Jing , but the rest... the pace is like a formel-1 race? jesus hell, if I didn't know the story since 1983, since I was basically 4 or 5, this wouldn't work. how the hell are they expecting the audience to fall in love, like, and then hate and then suffer with all the characters (all at the same time!), if you virtually see no character expose? you virtually just get some backstory narrated, but you don't live with and through the characters. i remember talking as a teenager with another elder cousin about the character of Yang Kang, and how (well apart from the fact that damn who can compete with the five tigers from HongKong in that decade, and any other decade? Michael Miu was urghhh if there was the internet at that decade, I would probably turn out to be the biggest stalker...) we all said, yeah right, he is really really evol, greedy, vain, good looking (all the classic ingredients of a good villain) but at the same time, no matter how many people or animals he killed, maimed or injured, how he separated his bio parents, his most redeeming qualities were, he truly loved his mother, and his wife. honestly . period , Michael Miu delivered. he could turn his back on his ethnic country, on his people, on the rest of the world, he could burn two worlds, but me and my cousin? we would forgive him, coz his feelings for his wife and mother were true. there we go.
here in this show?? at this point, after five 5 eps with this speed, I just dont care about the characters, any of the characters enough, to care, if they are killed , injured, injustly accused, or being mobbed, and cursed. or redeemed. its kind of meehhh virtual no bonding as an watcher with the characters, you are not really able to feel hate or pity or whatever for the characters coz it happens too fast.
not sure, how to rate this part of the entire 60 eps. i doubt, the pace will change for the rest of the remaining 25 eps..
but well, truth is , I still like this weird pacing, and story narration better than the other drama ,that I wanted so badly to like, but dropped like after 1 eps (matchmaker spirit something? well damn, its like we say in Germany Verdammte Scheiss, they had the ingredients for a great drama, the right good looking actors and actresses, and then created such a mess).
here, they had an even grander backbone, with a novel that can rival Lord of the rings ,and so on, and has sold like prob 100 mio paperback copies (legally and illegal translations haha) across the world, and is in any overseas Chinese household ? and well, its sort of only half working.

but you simply saying its boring and pointless , its not a valid review nor criticism. at least, i said here in length, why i like and dislike this drama:

boah, damn near midnight, guess playtime is over.
