fascinating, i had planning to skip this one (too many dramas on the shelf from last year, to catch up ) , but seeing the comments to clips on youtube, this seems like the first drama, where the hate and dislike is not towards some supposedly silly female lead, but directed towards the male lead?
like, 98% of the hate is usually towards the female actresses or their characterizations by the skriptwriters or so. this is the first time, i consciously see it towards a ML.
put this on the dl-queue. meanwhile, for today, on the new years eve, its only for love, and journey to love *g* binge watching till tomorrow
I can watch the show on viewasian.com.. actors speak Shanghai dialect and subtitle in Mandarin ( so far)..
do you think, there will ever be a cantonese version? would they even do that, (i think the only audience would be citizens from Hongkong, and overseas descendants of chinese, who only understand spoken cantonese, like me...)
honestly, at this point, i can only dream of a cantonese version, or one day, with english subtitles for the show on maybe netflix..sighs.
as someone who is mostly like 99% watching C-dramas (the fantasy kind, with all the pretty fantasy costumes) , this was like my first J-drama this year (last year was k-drama reborn rich).
this was really fun, without any complicated heartbreak or romance. i liked everyone, even though the characterizations were simplistic , but come on, its not like 98% of the c-dramas with pretty idols are better. i just want eyecandys, and Haru delivered and Gaku was cute.
The backdrop of this drama was in 1990s, but they made me feel like it was in a very old era - like a few more…
It feels more like the roaring 1920+, than 1993, more like the Dramas such as The Bund. But then i guess its more about the feelings, than an actually real life Drama documentary, so thats fine.
ogod, its the 27th!! i cant concentrate on work on anything, and worse, am still visiting my 74 yrs old mother, who lives in rural germany, who has very bad internet connection! I AM DYING!
ditto, i SO NEED TO KNOW THAT! how am i suppose to know, which app to install, and who to give my money for a subscription, if we international fans dont know, if there is even a subbed version *cries*.
well in doubt, i will just download and watch the 30 eps, with understanding a single word, and just look at the gorgeous cinematographie! (al the trailers looks AWESOME!
For intl fans will this be available on Wetv Intl? also what is the difference between both version?
this is just me guessing, but in one of the articles that i read, the director was utilizing mostly actors who came from shanghai. or had shanghai background. as such, i would think, because they also speak with shanghainese accent / dialect? so the original one should be the shanghainese, and the dubbed one the standard mandarin.
lol, i just came here, coz i saw avenue X mentioned this drama. but wow, this makes me feel OLD ;-D i am probably the only one, who probably remembers and recognizes Kent Tong from the cast, the Hongkong Actor, one of the five tigers from the 80s golden era back then. saw him first, when i was 4 yrs old, or something, thats been 40yrs ago.
makes me wonder, and musing about, how many of China's current idol stars like Zhao Zhan or Wang Yibo, or Dylan Wang or whoever is the current hot talk of the town, or even someone like Hu Ge, who has moved to the cinema screen, will still be remembered in 40 yrs by their young fans today...:D
i just came here to say, that i am kind of disappointed. after blood of youth, i really thought, this would be the year for li hongyi, but sadly, its near december and from what i gathered, all the buzz has been revolving around either dylan wang and his co-star and 2ML Zhang Ling He. dont get me wrong, i like / love both those actors as well. i am just somewhat sad for LHY. hopefully 2024 will be better for him!
with the same cast , please!
