But if he's already consciously holding on to her, he seems like a smart enough character to recognize that he has feelings for her, then the engagement move seems foolish, it's only going to cause unnecessary pain. Really enjoying the chemistry between them but not a fan of the direction. Really hate the they are engaged to other people trope. Sorry for the rant, just needed to vent a little.
This was a fun read, I love the deep dive into the symbolism of it. I think the colour choices are definitely deliberate. And while that might be motivated by the scene's mood, theme or foreshadowing, (and I might be overanalyzing) but the black umbrella seems to fittingly reflect a certain type of ML, the aloof, self-contained quiet and often burdened ML (e.g. Goblin, Oh My Venus, Flower of Evil, IONTBO, Doctor John) or for the stereotypical action man / villain (K2, King Eternal)
