Title Link: Eat, Love, Kill Spoiler
The killer CAN BE a psycho.. not that he was reduced to being one. I think the writer intended not to give his…
I understand and completely agree with you about the beauty of the link. How the connection leads to his emotional growth/character arch. That's all good.

I just literally wanted a tiny explanation of what triggered it. The explanation isn't going to be scientific or mathematical, it supernatural. But like what IS it. With the twins it's like a blood bond right so having that bond forged in some other way through tears/blood/lightning anything but just a little supernatural magical link shown. Like the sisters tears dropping into her eyes or something.

Everything you said about the usefulness of the link and how she too benefits from the link is all good, it makes sense how she feeling the emotions also works to trigger her memories etc. I have nothing against using a supernatural tool, I just wanted a better foregrounding of said tool 😊

Title Link: Eat, Love, Kill Spoiler
The killer CAN BE a psycho.. not that he was reduced to being one. I think the writer intended not to give his…
To clarify his actions can be psychopathic or monstrous (ie. the act of someone mentally unstable behaving inhumanely or abhorrently) having such a character is fine but implying that is his entire persona (by having zero background) and thus no depth creates a caricature rather than a character. It's okay if he's not the focus, and the majority of the narrative is not on him, but when you build the mystery around a whodunnit and delve into all the suspects, the fact that we learn even a little about all the other suspects (from the piano teacher to the truck driver) and nothing on the actual murderer feels like a misstep IMO. It wouldn't have taken more than 10 mins to give some insight (again it doesn't mean we will find his actions reasonable or rational, we would still consider it psychopathic and monstrous but we'll get a sense of what triggered or how or why he stopped himself just to flesh him out a little bit more)

Yes there are many killers whose actions are unreasonable and what makes those documentaries so good is that even UNREASONABLE killers have a background that gives us a glimpse of what shaped them. Again we often consider their actions unreasonable even after we learn some plausible "reasons" because majority of people do not behave in that way nor is it justifiable but Netflix calls it Making a Murderer because it recognizes that even monsters are shaped even when the research finds it irrational. This reminds me of Truman Capote's In Cold Blood that accounts for the senseless and random multiple killings by two killer one of which said this "'I wonder why I did it…I don't know why…I was sore at Dick (his partner in crime)…But it wasn't Dick. Or the fear of being identified. I was willing to take that gamble. And it wasn't because of anything the Clutters did. They never hurt me. Like other people. Like people have all my life. Maybe it's just that the Clutters were the ones who had to pay for it." My point being it's okay if the writer wants to give us a killer who has no reason but then make it clear he has none. The way it was portrayed initially was to build our expectations to imply he might have had a reason (even if that reason is just an uncontrollable urge or misdirected anger) hence the prolonged episodes long after we guess who the killer is, but to build up to that suspense and then just leave us hanging felt unfinished. If the killer was just monstrous, giving in to a paedophilic urge than let it be that, it would make it more visceral more devastating because of how senselessly wicked his actions were if it was motivated by some skewed killer logic show that and it would hit slightly differently as we see the character process that. If the motive wasn't important that the who isn't as critical they could have wrapped that up earlier and focused on showing how the town healed and recovered. My frustration comes perhaps because it feels like she adopted the tone of a murder mystery (motives are important for these) but actually wanted to explore the after effects of trauma and healing and didn't quite focus on either.

As many has mentioned they just skip over the father's narrative halfway. Yes we can guess, but the amount of fill in the blanks that we the audience have to do for this finale is IMO ridiculous. It isn't a suspenseful or ambiguous ending that leaves you intrigued that at least would serve a narrative purpose, here it's just a plain old rushed ending with unfinished parts. Of course we can guess he likely stumbled upon a clue and got killed but a small flashback from the killers pov or something would have given us the viewer some closure.

My question for the link was how was it created, what's the internal supernatural logic, twin being born with that supernaturally makes sense, but such a power doesn't just get transferred because of a verbal promise. I don't quite know how to explain my frustration about this myself, just that yes supernatural connections have emotional metaphorical reason like you mentioned (what you said about the purpose of the link makes sense) her role in helping him process the trauma and letting go of the guilt is all good but could easily have been achieved without the supernatural, and the reason she suddenly has the ability just felt like it needed a better justification. Just because I promise to pass on a message or the dad dying somewhere else where she has no idea and who had zero connection (the dad) to her emotionally wouldn't activate a dormant link. There needs to be a catalyst that suddenly triggered the connection after so many years. Like in KSS when the act of going thru the trauma together triggers it between them. It just felt like there was a missing piece there.

I guess my frustration overall is there is too much left to the viewers imagination. When you stretch the suspense for so long people expect a payoff or sorts. It felt like it was building up to it and then abruptly rushed. I understand if many are fine with the way it ended these were just things I found frustrating. Perhaps because I really liked how the writer gave us both suspense, layered and complex killers, and more closure in SP. Here I didn't get that sense of closure.

Title Link: Eat, Love, Kill Spoiler
While this drama was good on building suspense, humour and portraying the effects on the people left behind it really failed to answer some critical questions. The WHY matters just as much, and this writer did a better job in SP on this front so I'm surprised she dropped the ball on this one.

Reducing the killer to a "monster/psycho" is a cheap trick, and is shoddy writting. Monsters are made and have their rationale, neither justifiable nor something we will empathize with necessarily, but when you build up the mystery only to just leave it hanging its pretty weak writing. His friend had a reason to trust him, respect him and want to help him .... what were those reasons? What triggered him to suddenly randomly kill a child? At his age it's rarely the first crime let alone so random. Why did he stop? How did the father die? Why not confess? His actions don't match at all, if he's in denial of his acts his behaviour is not in line with that, if he's proud and reckless as he was at the end, he'd boast about it. If he's ashamed and hence couldn't kill his friend he wouldn't have spared him only to go on a killing spree. The character doesn't quite make sense like the writer can't quite decide what kind of killer her character was.

One other thing that bugs me is the link, the "wifi". It makes no sense, remove it and you could still tell this story. While the link between the siblings makes sense, the story never offers a clear explanation for how or why FL has it. Yes it's supernatural, but even supernatural elements function under some conditions, (see Kiss Sixth Sense that does a better job of this). FL and ML's chemistry and romance started off with potential but kind of fizzles.

Considering how long the episodes were, the pacing was frustrating, it could have done with less repetition and more character development.

The acting was really good including the child actors. It also did a good job of portraying how individual acts of pride, negligence, self-centred grief, selfishness, fear and shame (as displayed by all the various adults in the town) can compound a tragedy and make it worse. I stayed mainly for the numerous supporting characters from the secondary police couple and restaurant crew to the busy body neighbours. They were the backbone of this drama. And a kudos to that fridge, it deserves a supporting actor nomination ;)

naughty cell does have a nose! 👃Naughty is always sooo flustered (from having constant naughty thoughts), it…
Ah ok. I missed that scene and the drawings and animation usually don't have an demarking's of a nose so I thought something happened or it had some symbolic meaning. Thanks for the response :)

Title Alchemy of Souls Spoiler
AoS Episode 9 Thoughts

👩‍🦯 So looks like Mu Deuk IS the missing Jin daughter.
Would be interesting to find out how she escaped Jin Mu and managed to make him think she was dead.

🤴🏼 Our petty Prince continues to grow on me, I really am hoping that he will eventually form an alliance with them as opposed to them becoming rivals.

🚫 When Yun-Ok, the Heo granddaughter, went to touch Jang Uk, I literally shouted at my laptop screen "Shiro!" Really hope they don't play out a typical cliche triangle here.

💗 I was worried Do-Joo's and Master Yeom's interference will create unnecessary misunderstandings for our main leads, never have I been so grateful for her nosiness. Her words to Mu-Deuk, when she needed to hear it the most 🪺 I absolutely love how loyal Uk and Naksu/Mu Deuk are to each other 💞

💫 Last week I got an uneasy feeling when I watched Park Jin's stoic offer to Jang Uk to join Songrim. I especially hate that it looks like I might be right. The preview for tomorrow shows him admitting that he has no intention of teaching Jank Uk and his reasoning makes no bloody sense. His actions are a typical self fulfilling prophesy. His actions of denying Jang Uk his rightful place in Songrim and eventually as Gwangju is what is fuelling Uk's determination. Park Jin blindly follows the rules, motives matter less to him, and instead of questioning Jang Gang's actions, the man who f'ed it up in the first place, and obviously didn't tell him the whole story, he's always looking on at Jang Uk with suspicion.

♟️ Right now the antagonists are a step ahead, they at least know who exactly Uk is, have the ice stone or a part of it, and they have Mistress Jin on a hook. Our heroes need to catch up.

On Yumi's Cells Season 2 Jul 16, 2022
At this point I'm watching it purely for the cells. They're hilarious. IMO neither relationship is salvageable and all parties are at fault to some extent. The drama does a good job of exploring the different issues. I hope they don't force a relationship between Yumi and either of the guys nor give us a very rushed ending with the sudden appearance of Soonrok. Either end the series with Yumi being comfortable single or have a proper 3rd season where her relationship with Soonrok is fully developed.

She gets engaged to LBY in part 1. Most likely engaged to Yuan Shen in part two. You can find a pretty heavy spoiler…
Thanks for this, it was really helpful.
I hope the drama gives us a little epilogue of their married life!

He should marry his previous fience, because her father, brother will execute, LY should marry her because she…
Thank you! She (the ex fiancé) treated him really badly, I hope he's not doomed to be in an unhappy marriage. His character is really innocent and earnest.

At the end of episode 8 I couldn't read Park Jin, is he friend or new enemy. His resolve to be the "objective" head of Songrim, and not let his emotions guide him is a pretty ruthless stance, so is his offer to Jang Uk genuine or a means to monitor him? Does he still see Uk as someone he cares for like an honorary uncle or does he see him as a destabilizing force that needs to be neutralized for the good of Songrim since I'm assuming he now see's his old friend's use of the alchemy of souls as a betrayal to Songrim.
