It's why the supermodel/sharper features go to their 2nd FL's all the time. Certain exceptions like Kim Hee Ae, Seo Ye Ji, Lee Min Jung, and a few others. But generally, Koreans like the girl next door/wholesome/un-threatening beauty. Someone who is cute/beautiful, but not too striking that it's distracting. On the flip side, it does add more of a relatability factor when it comes to romance shows. But having copy/pasted actresses when it comes to beauty ideals is way too much, and when they start to blend looks wise, that's a big issue.
However, their films do play a bit more with FL's, like Jeon Do Yeon, Kim Hye Soo, Kim Tae Ri, Kim Go Eun, Jung Jun Seo, Yum Jung-ah type of beauties who have distinct looks/aura. Of course, in the West, the prefer more exotic/sexy actresses than the East. Every country, has their own beauty ideals that we're huh about.
