The beautiful directing and editing of the opening scene sold me. Perth & Chimon's fantastic acting raises it…
my thoughts exactly. Perth is doing an amazing job bc I hated his guts this entire ep. the bullies to lovers trope is a hard one to do as it takes a really competent writer and script to be executed believably.
I will say Kang and his pack picking tables that are already occupied isn't surprising to me in the least 😂 his dad's status within and outside of the school has massively inflated his ego and sense of entitlement. he probably didn't give it a second thought. Kang is a spoiled rich brat trying to exercise a sense of power and control
loved ep 1. cant wait to see which character becomes the most unhinged. my money is on Nick. Boston and nick are my favs so far, the red flags are always more interesting and Neo is playing Boston in a way that makes me believe there's more than a horny boy beneath the surface.
I agree with you however it is still rape. Let's say I'm at a party with my bf and he goes to buy food or whatever…
you're 100% right and upon re reading my own analysis of the scene I find myself not even agreeing with it. must've been crack lol. I think I was initially overthinking and looking at it more in the context of the show in universe (since we know they're a pair) and how we have to suspend disbelief for many of these love stories. I also didn't want to necessarily erase Ning's sexual agency bc i'm sure he did go to the bar to have sex, and I don't think id call it rape if he did end up getting drunk and going through with it- but I do agree that what ming did was rape. esp bc like I said above he knew ning didn't want to sleep with him. just because he wanted to have sex doesn't mean that ming didn't still rape him. I think we (i) can have such a strong impression in our minds that rape is always a violent act and that's not the case. I'm definitely gonna edit my comment
first of all I want to say how well directed, shot, and performed all of the ming/ning sex scenes are. I would not have expected that type of quality compared to the rest of the show. thoroughly impressed.
while I do think ming and ning look good together and they can deliver a steamy sex scene, I've kind of stopped shipping them at this point. idk how ming can claim to "love" him while blatantly assaulting / raping him when Ming has been very clear in his feelings about a repeat sexual encounter with him. he's not in love he's in lust. the writing for the show is just not good enough to portray the type of complexities their story would need to be believably resolved.
Interesting take but that was not actually non-consensual sex. Ming was clearly more sober. But the doc was not…
I definitely wouldn't call this r*pe in the traditional sense, but had he been sober ning would not have chosen to have sex with ming. Ning has been very clear about how he does not want ming. sure, he was willing to have sex with that other dude, but then ming swooped in and took advantage of his inebriated state. that's nasty. he was not in a place to consent to sex with him with a clear mind. that's sexual assault. if they were both drunk and already flirting that'd be a different story
As someone who is currently working in an office, from America, I concur that it is as boring as it gets. So many…
maybe I've had my fair share of coworkers making insensitive "edgy" jokes to me under the guise of "comedy" lol but im only on this site like once in blue moon so it's nice to know that I've caught your attention <3
I love the leads and their chemistry I think they're doing a really good job. pak is conveying nuea's obvious attraction to lom and internal / external conflict he's having with it well.
the plot is okay but I could get behind the whole 'Lom lying to nuea and toying with his emotions' more if there was a higher level of pressure / stakes? Lom's mom seemed loving, if not a little pushy with his marriage (but that's how many moms are when it comes to their sons esp in asian cultures) I never got a vibe of "oh he'd be disowned and shunned if he came out to her" I feel like at worst she'd be initially disappointed but come around to the idea considering they showed she does love him.
we haven't seen a lot of lom's family dynamics yet and we still don't know yiwa's full situation or the entire story with the fake marriage so this could of course change, but right now as a viewer I kind of feel like it's underdeveloped drama for the sake of drama and it will turn out that lom's mom will accept him regardless of who he loves.
Film and Jam are doing stellar jobs zero notes. I also wanted to say that I think Pearl is doing a great job as Thee. every time Thai opens his mouth you can visibly see Thee's conflict with the fact that he's in love with someone who's so objectively not a good person. the way Pearl shows the concern, embarrassment, longing, and adoration Thee has for Thai all within a couple glances is crazy. I wasn't rooting for them last episode but after ep 4 I'm starting to get on board. I wish we had more BL's where more of the characters aren't exactly good people, I think that dynamic is really interesting to explore.
I really wasn't going to watch this as the plot didn't interest me that much, but i'm actually really enjoying it. It'd be easy for a character like nuea to come off as annoying but the actor is doing a really good job. he's genuinely gotten a few laughs out of me. I assume lom is going to come clean about the situation in the next ep. Im really enjoying their chemistry.
2nd ep better than the 1st, but if ANY vendor that I hired and paid came to me and started yelling because plans…
eh at the same time lom and yiwa are not being the most professional clients either. nuea has had to drag any information pertaining to this wedding out of them, they're making an already high stress situation so much worse. this was kinda the straw that broke the camel's back. lom had already ignored his calls for days, I don't blame him for blowing up
YES! Totally agree. This isn't meant to be a masterpiece of the genre—it knows that, and accordingly doesn't…
its VERY self aware and I think that's also a big part of the reason im enjoying it. everyone in the cast seems to be having fun.
the acting isn't bad, the script makes sense, and there was even a really well directed sex scene in episode one. what more could you ask for? it was never going to be the 8th sense. I find the criticism here so weird, there are definitely worse BL's currently airing.
I just want to say that Wu Bi is my son and I will gladly die for him.
and I get the "is this bl / bromance" discourse, but if you watch it, it's very clearly romantically coded. it's not even subtle, which makes sense bc this isn't being aired in china. now that being said, I don't think were gonna get a kiss or anything but I don't think its going to end with just a high five either.
I don't understand some of the criticism here, I think this show is super fun. punn is such an unserious, lovable character and I think ja is playing him well. the pacing for punn and ashi's relationship makes sense and I love that now mueang is along for the ride. I love how first is so over the top campy as his lakorn character and then completely switches his acting style for ashi. he's doing an amazing job showing subtle little nuances of ashi's personality, I cant wait until the character opens up to punn more. the rating here is definitely too low. the only genuinely annoying thing I find about this show is the managers. I don't know why they insisted on making them (especially title's) so obnoxious.
