I had two thoughts while watching this- the first was how I cant believe the execs at GMM gave JD such a lukewarm plot for their second show. Like were there no other options? I feel like we've seen this plot done to death so many times. their chemistry irl is so good but i'm just not feeling anything here.

the second was after the scene with Guy and Arm, how much I want to see GMM produce a BL with a more mature couple.

idk i'm enjoying this! the masters are stunt queens that live for drama and mess. idc if what they're doing is morally and criminally insane, headmaster cuntress is mother and I will forever be on her side. the dynamics between all the characters is really fun to watch, especially in group scenes.

also shipping tibet and pennheung i can see the rainbows

everyone dragging this show but im living idk maybe It gotta grow on y'all 😭 I think im the only one here who enjoys the gun / so / pitch love triangle. I definitely see how it can come off boring, but I love the mind games that gun and so are playing with each other. gun renting a food truck to fuck with so's head is such a petty power move I have no choice but to stan

subs and editing continue to be a disaster

there is no depth to their love, she fell in love and wanted to marry him after seeing him once???
Like the fact that they’re both half demons is right there šŸ’€ that would immediately explain her interest in him in a way that made sense and felt natural. Then they could develop their relationship further. But they go ā€œI saw him once and I love himā€ like I literally laughed out loud they didn’t even try

Rang indivifually as a character is fantastically the most developed which is why he's a fan favourite since season…
I agree with everything you said lmao! Rang is not the type of person to fall in love at first sight or let his walls down easily so him getting with the mermaid so fast gave me whiplash. Like up until he kissed her he literally acted like he hated her šŸ’€ it was terrible. Also the fact that a mermaid could somehow save him from the demons but he himself a what couple centuries old half fox was defenseless? It was just half assed writing.

I also agree that if they thought a little harder they could’ve come up with a way for rang to stay in the past that is in character.

I wanted to watch s1 to see how his character developed originally but yeah I might just have to fast forward through all the romance (which is basically what I’m doing in season 2)

And yeah half the time the 3 mountain gods are just vibing not much action 😭 I feel like the writers just don’t know how to balance genres very well be it action, romance,
or comedy. I’m always getting tonal whiplash in the way the scenes will switch emotionally lmfao

The ship mostly exists because he was a fan favorite and s1 and a lot of people were unhappy with what happens…
I think in theory she could be a really cool character! I just hate that she was relegated to a simple love interest. If she was written more realistically like she’s an actual person I would’ve enjoyed it.

Being a half demon like rang could’ve been the reason she was so interested in him at first. They could’ve written it to where she helps him out on missions with intel since she works at the night club. Getting involved with the gang in that way and then developing their romantic relationship from there would’ve been so much better than a lazy love at first sight trope. Other than being half demons it feels like they have nothing in common šŸ’€ the romance takes from rang’s own development too

Rang indivifually as a character is fantastically the most developed which is why he's a fan favourite since season…
Exactly it’s just not developed well at all. I kept getting annoyed bc rang was my favorite at first but now his character feels neutered by the romance. Like any time he was in trouble here comes mermaid lmao. Which like, don’t get me wrong I love seeing the gender roles kinda reversed to where rang is the one being saved, but they do kinda sacrifice his character development for the sake of it. I didn’t even watch the first season and even I can tell all the romance feels forced. It’s just not needed in a drama like this, and *if* they feel like it is they should’ve developed the characters more on their own bc the mermaid’s entire character only exists to be a love interest she has no other purpose. It just feels lazy

I also agree that the best part of the show is the brothers and their relationship. I feel like that’s why everyone’s watching, the most fun is their chemistry together idk why they didn’t lean into that a bit more. It seems like post ep 5 they focus more on the lee yeon / moo young / hong dynamic (which I also love) but kinda feels like rang has been sidelined and we don’t see him as much. When we do see him a lot of his screen time is filled with the romance instead of developing him further which, as one of my favorite characters, is really annoying.

I wanted to watch the first one for a while but all the comments about the terribly written romance turned me off. Now that you say it’s worse than season 2 I might have to skip it altogether lmao.

so I haven't seen the first season and jumped into this with zero prior knowledge and im enjoying it a lot! its really fun and makes me want to watch the first season. one nitpick I do have is that I find myself rolling my eyes at the lee rang / mermaid romance. I hate when shows that aren't specifically romantic dramas feel the need to force a relationship. it feels like they're just trying to fill up time. on paper it makes sense but the way they've executed it just feels rushed. especially bc I feel like she's such an underdeveloped character she only exists to be a love interest. I wish they maybe spent more time developing rang and her separately as characters more before trying to put them together it would feel a lot more natural. idk Im only on ep 8 maybe they'll grow on me

gun really is the main character like he's living in everyone's mind rent free- pitch, soh, Korn, Lalit everyone either wants him wants to be him or wants to kill him 😭 I'm actually a little worried like he has opps. again gun and soh's dynamic is so fun to me, im assuming soh doesn't know gun put his brother in the hospital? cant wait for that bomb to drop

korn / pawin were definitely more likeable this episode. its clear that korn just wants someone to support him. I do wish they didn't write mintra in such a pathetic way I wish she was shown to be a little more cool and calculating

the low rating on this is wild to me because IMO the acting, chemistry, and directing are all better than most of the bl's airing right now. I actually don't think this show is that confusing. though we're 5 episodes in I do feel like webs are just now beginning to be spun so to speak. they're still laying the foundation for all the drama to come. I really like how pretty much every scene is there for a reason, whether its to develop a character or to advance the plot. it felt like a slower start because as this is a character driven show, they had to spend some time introducing everyone in a way that didn't seem too rushed or unbalanced- which I think they did pretty well.

gun is the most interesting character to me, I like that I can never really tell what he's thinking. the actor is doing a really good job. I also really enjoy the tension between him and so.

wayu and wayha have the cutest dynamic and amazing chemistry that kinda snuck up on me. as of right now they're my favorite couple.

pawin, korn, and minda are bringing all the drama. I love that neither of them are particularly likable. im honestly kinda mad minda's actress didn't go for it a little more like I wanted her throwing shit and slutshaming pawin but I can tell she's cooking something up and I cant wait to see what that is.

idk a lot of the recent bl's have been a little on the boring side to me but with this im entertained the entire time I literally did not want it to end. I like that everyone feels and behaves like genuine characters with actual motivations behind their actions versus just being a bunch of cliches and tropes.

as always the subs are horrendous. like we can have two boys fucking on screen but you censor when someone says 'what the hell?' like its gotten to the point where I can genuinely recognize Thai curse words and see them translated incorrectly. its so annoying it takes you out of the show and compromises the script. maybe if we all mass email iqiyi we can get some change lmfao

I respect your opinion...even if it's shallow, judgmental, & shows how unknowledgeable you are about Kpop music…
im sorry this comment is so obnoxious and pretentious to me LOL

autotune is as much of a technique in music expression as anything else. its much more than a pitch corrector, it can be used in a variety of ways across multiple genres (hip hop, pop, edm, electronica) artistically or creatively. as a general pitch corrector, every single recorded song nowadays has been run through auto tune, regardless of genre.

you don't need to be a master musician to be a pop star and make good music that resonates with people. any act that has a majority female following gets belittled or discredited, and is usually seen as being a fad (Britney, NSYNC, Bieber, swift, BTS) when all of these artists were massive phenomenons that had major impact in their respective industries. no one says the same thing about artists that are heavily popular with men (Rolling Stones, nirvana, Eminem, drake) its all misogynistic bull. Hell even Taylor swift has a better vocal range than bob Dylan, but only ones' singing technique is always weaponized against them.

kpop has the same problem as pop music. stars burn very brightly and then fade. its people like beyonce, Taylor, bruno, drake that are exceptions to the rule with having a longer shelf life than other pop stars that don't last. comparing the fast moving, heavily ageist pop and kpop industries to a performer like bob Dylan isn't equivalent in the slightest. its apples to oranges. kpop has just recently been blowing up on a global scale there simply hasn't even been enough time to see who will still be standing 20 years from now. but you don't even need to be a super active musician to make quality art and leave a mark on the industry. Like someone else said the notorious big was only active for 7 years and Lauryn hill post fugees only has ONE solo album that is still talked about in music circles today. Aaliyah is STILL one of the most influential r&b stars ever and she was active for less than a decade.

obviously kpop (as does every other industry) has its criticisms, such as irresponsible beauty standards and the reliance on visuals over musical talent for appeal- but there are still hundreds of musically talented idols within the industry. saying the entire industry is generic and repetitive is of course your own opinion to have, but its not a fact. there are many groups who objectively make quality pop music. EXO, shinee, girls generation, fx, loona are all some acts that have excellent discographies. its pop, they don't have to reinvent the wheel. Why are you comparing pop artists to Bach? Be serious. Not every artist is trying to be revolutionary-or even needs to be.

and sure people can be drawn to kpop for the cute boys (is that not why many of us are drawn to bl? like be honest) but its also a safe space for girls, boys, and many queer individuals. especially online. Like bl, kpop is a form of escapism, and belittling people's hobbies and interests just because you personally don't think its meaningful or significant is lame to me

MAGGI'S OLD PERSON'S RANT ON THE IDOL'S SONGThe song the idol sang at the bar sounded as if it had been composed…
I mean one song you heard in a low budget BL drama isn't really representative of an entire industry and its weird to judge an entire genre on one instance such as this. as a major fan of pop music, nirvana, and k pop I can say that there's less than stellar songs and performers in every genre across the board. conversely, there are also superstars. its just the nature of the music industry

like obviously im not saying you have to be a Kpop fan, but this is hardly a song I would base my opinion of the genre on. even Zuho's own group (which im not really a fan of) has some fun songs in their discography. I mean hey maybe you have heard some Kpop and its not for you and that's fine! it doesn't have to be. but like let people enjoy things? you don't have to try and rationalize or discredit it just because you don't. I don't like metal or screamo but I have never lost one wink of sleep over those who do. nor have I ever tried to discredit the talents of those within that genre.

Pop music by nature is more manufactured, comparing a kpop group to nirvana is about as equivalent as comparing nirvana and beyonce. they're very different artists and have different styles and a different process. kpop is fun, for most people its a simple as that. sometimes im not in the mood to listen to an angsty Kurt Cobain sometimes I want to listen to people sing about young love and chasing their dreams.

it's so funny bc Jaehyun is almost as controlling as joowon. like stalking, kidnapping, uber possessive, we need to call the police. realistically seungjun shouldn't be with anyone until he works out his trauma, but his roommate is the only person that he has a healthy dynamic with. that's the kind of person he needs. this (like so many other k bls) could be good if given a good runtime and fleshed out, but the pacing is terrible, its too short for the leads to develop any believable chemistry, and for such a character driven drama 15 mins isn't nearly enough time.

the bio of the show states that Pat studied in LA, and it was referenced in episode 1. It's not hard to put two and to two together. He's clearly written to have a more westernized mindset.

And I obviously don't speak Thai so I cannot speak on what he said 100%. sure It could've been translated differently to make it easier for international audiences to get the gist of his actual comment. But I'm just going on the translation that was provided me, and it's not like that comment coming from him wouldn't make sense given his character.

ep 9 was absolutley rushed, and though it's very out of character and kind of lazy writing wise for Phu to confess at an employee party in from of everyone like that, I still think the actors delivered emotion wise. I kinda squealed and I *never* do that. I get that Phu felt threatened by Khun which drove him to act, I just would've preferred him sing his little song, then drag Nan away privately and read him the decade old love letter.

Party is the best character hands down, the way he's enduring his own pain and selflessly making opportunities for Phu to confess to Nan is so sweet. The way he was cockblocking Khun 😭 im sad he probably won't get a happy ever after and I need to see Boss in another lead role asap.

also Nan deciding the issue of his boyfriend and Khun being half brothers can be tabled for later is so unserious 😭

My problem with this and the confession is... I've never seen any signs of Nan liking Phupa as more than a friend.…
oh I absolutely felt Nan's love for Phu, but he was definitely in denial. Nan's actor is really subtle I think he wanted to show how a lot of his affection was subconscious. He showed most of his affection through his loyalty, which makes sense for the character. The constant searching for Phu, crying over him, and abandonment issues he had were just manifestations of his love. You don't go through all that for someone who's just a friend lmao. The boy had trauma. I honestly felt his love more acting wise, as Phu's actor had much more of a predictable performance (though he still did a good job)

Oh I'm African as well I absolutely agree. I was talking about toxic masculinity specifically in context of western society and the U.S. as the character Pat is looking at things with an American perspective. I wasn't trying to get that deep about the nuances on patriarchal values within African society in the comments of a BL forum lmfao. Of course any one of any race can perpetuate toxic standards of masculinity within society and their surrounding social groups, but in this specific situation Pat was referring to the specific brand of oppressive patriachal values that are common within America due to being under the influence of puritanical Christian influences
