The time skip is a pretty common storytelling device though. Bad Buddy did it and you guys didn't even complain.…
It is a common storytelling device but it has to be done right... Bad Buddy was clever and used the technique to toy with the audience for half the last episode. It also immediately went and showed scenes of what Pran and Pat had been up to during that time.
We as an audience can obviously fill in the gaps but we are still missing key moments which would add so much to this story if we weren't only told about events through conversations. This show is quite character driven, so time jumps results in a loss in time we as an audience get to explore these characters. Ep 10 just finished in such a weird place I'm quite confused why they decided to do that.
Something about this series feels different to me. I don’t know if it’s the lighting, the music, the acting,…
I love it. I feel really in the moment with all these characters. I think it's due to all the things you've described, but also their use of silence is amazing. It creates tension? awkwardness? suspense? I feel myself holding my breath in suspense.
Episode 9 is one the best thus far. Probably the best acting and the dialogue wasn't too bad. Scene choices were great and really built up the tension well. I'm surprised considering a lot of the scenes were quite stripped back where the actors were the sole focus. I've seen a lot of shows struggle when the story reaches this point. Also, plot wise it kept me quite engaged. Obviously there were still flaws but honestly well done, and I'm intrigued how they plan to finish off this series.
When I started this, I was looking forward to the "harem" aspect. I assumed Theo would actually develop some feelings…
Exactly. I didn't realise this is what I wanted. Akk and Theo's relationship has already been almost fully developed since episode 4. They both are so aware for the feelings they have for each other but are afraid to admit it to each other which we exactly sure. Although they have great chemistry (at times some scenes feel forced eg. the bread and sausage eating) the zero real direction for development to go in gives off limited romantic tension. This is where I thought the "who is Enchante?" mystery plot would have brought intrigue to the show but exactly like you said without the Harem plot, why should we really care who Enchante is?
Does anyone know what Natee told Theo? I'm a little confused..
I'm guessing he told him who Enchante is. Its mostly likely Akk. It can't be Safia but I don't know why he would say yes. He would need Theo to help him with his music career?
This episode was not the best. The first half of the episode was a real snooze fest. I lost count how many times they did the whole Akk and Theo looking into each other eyes, the music cutting and adding the heart beating effect over it. And of course they try to brush it off like it's nothing. There has been no solid development between two for the last couple of episodes (excluding the kiss). They are starting to lose their spark.
Then the Enchante thing kicked in and then I was interested but then it turned into a wtf moment with the whole confrontation. That whole scene was just a mess that I just ended up finding it funny. Akk's angry face is just cute.
I love when we get such good BLs. It feels like a treat. I'm now trying to decide between this and To My Star which one is my favourite Korean BL. I think this one may win.
I just finished semantic error, I'm planning to watch this is this worth it? no toxic plot?
I just finished that too. How great was it. You 100% should watch it I hated it initially but its grown into a real good series. It's really well done. There is 3 episodes to go, so fingers crossed it continues to be good.
I may be in the minority, but I didn't like Ep 9. I'll be specific. The time jump was not successful. It was confusing,…
I get what you mean. One thing I liked about the time jump is that we didn't get any dramatics about Thorn's leg. And his behaviour this episode wasn't cliche. It felt so in character for him. Also I really loved the Saan and Ai fireworks scene, and where Aii was able to give Thorn advice because he relates to Fah in his relationship.
But I 100% agree about Dome and Vee. That could have been big. The time jump definitely did drain some of the momentum that had built up from the previous episode. It seems like the pacing came back down and we were back at the start. The moment where they gave in should have been scandalous!! How would you have done their scene(s)?
This episode had some great moments. The scene with the fireworks was my favourite part. It was so beautifully done and the way it cuts out when the question gets dropped. I was holding onto my breath. Absolutely fantastic.
Ok i really love Adrian and Eurwin but i have to say that none of them have done a great job portraying sadness…
I agree. I think sadness and anguish are the hardest emotions to capture well on camera. Both from an acting and filming point of view. I've noticed a lot of BLs struggle with this emotion. Golden Blood is a prime example. I think for the theatrical feel of the show it was done fine but the scene where Mikey ran away, fake tripped, followed by the melodramatic crying with his sister and friends was way over the top. It would have been perfect if someone had died though.
I just started this series and it looks really good. My only problem is the laughing track. It goes off every 5 seconds and there is no variety to it. This is the first time I've seen a sitcom style Thai show though and it's good so far.
While this show hasn't been perfect and it has been frustrating to the max at times, it is a way better drama…
I think another reason is because people had high expectations for this series. Rainbow Prince was a much cheaper production so I think people's expectations were much lower.
