What are you saying about letting go? When it was first aired last year, i rewatched it 4 times consecutively back to back 😂 i thought after the 4th watch, ive already gotten over it. But then here i am rewatching it and crying like a baby at their dying scenes all over again. 😂 gosh it’s truly their best pairing yet. Moving on? I dont think so 😅

So it is slow up to the very end? Im at ep 7 and the pacing is so infuriatingly slow that i was thinking of dropping it altogether. After reading your comment, yeah im definitely gonna drop this. Too slow to further waste my time.

I am at ep 7 oh boy the pace has been so slowwwww i might drop this. His paranoia is irritating cuz the suspicions keep getting quelled by him getting gaslighted, even though i know those people are real serial killers. I might really drop this.

I think so too, too bad cuz the first part followed the book quite closely except for the details i mentioned. They skipped so many arcs to make everyone forget XQA at the moment he behaded the minister and dukes, when in the book it had happened quite towards the end of vol 2.

I dont get the ending too. Cuz in the novel, ML actually went to become the common people’s hero after he beheaded those two scums. He had so much support from the ministers, even the chief astrologer and yunlu director backed him up in front of the emperor that the emperor end up being forced to issue edict of self reproach, admitting that he had allowed the zhenbei wang to kill chuzhou’s population. Although ML had no choice but to quit his job at the nightwatch, he stil struts around freely with the prestige of the people’s hero. I just dont get why they changed it to memory erasing instead. The scene of his family forgetting him was so sad. This didnt happen in the novel.

By the way it’s not future spoiler. Your first thought was correct, The death scene i mentioned was when he died alone in the cave in yunzhou, that was when he was already silver gong on a mission fighting off robbers. In the novel his death in yunzhou had been for fighting off 200 rebel yunzhou army. The production didnt follow the novel on that death, they changed it to him dying alone in that cave and found by his two best friends, bronze gongs song ting fang and zhu guangxiao.

It’s not future spoiler, mind you! That arc has gone by in the show, they just changed it to him fighting off with that mysterious entity in the cave instead. Im just expressing my disappointment that they decided to change it. I really think his novel death is so much more epic than what the show changed it to.

I fastforwarded all her scenes cuz i just cant stand her. She’s the most useless character btw, dunno why they decided to make her the FL when she was just a minor character on the novel. I skipped reading all her parts in the novel too. The novel Lin An is so much more overbearing than the adaptation Lin An - always calling ML as dog slave. Gosh i hate her character so much. Although I loved the idea of WQA coupling up with HuaiQing or any other character, given his womanizer character in the novel, i hope he marries Lin An instead, just so she’d make his lecherous life miserable 😂

The novel ML wanted to marry all these women btw, always refering to HuaiQing as wife #1 and Lin An as wife #2, and the rest as the women in his life as his concubines (though this is only in his monologues cuz he didnt sleep with them so far, im at the end of Volume 2 now). Gosh the author made WQA much more lecherous than JoL’s Fan Xian, WQA’s fav hangout spot is the Imperial Brothel and he has slept with almost all the top courtesans there. I really hate this side of the character.

Dont drop it, just do like i did, fast forward all of her scenes cuz theyre irrelevant to the main story. 😂😝 Her character is really expendable. More like a filler character than FL really, both in adaptation and the novel. The only time her character seem to function is on the Princess Pingyang arc, but i still skip her scenes and not miss anything either 😂 basically she’s useless you can totally skip her parts

She got better towards the end but i still hate her and fast forward almost all her scenes. Though the lin an in the novel is so much worse, always calling WQA as dog slave. I skipped her parts on the novel too 😂 she is so irritating.

I am disappointed that they changed the ending (vol 2 for the novel) as such, the novel is so much more epic with all da feng citizen standing by him, ministers speaking for him with the chief astrologer and yunlu director backing him up so much so that the emperor had to confess that the 3k li massacre was condoned by the emperor himself and eventually forced to issue edict of self reproach. tell me if that is not epic compared to everybody forgetting him? Gosh im so mad.

His yunzhou death in the novel had been so much fancier too, dying with multiple sword slashes wounds and arrows on the body like a pincushion, dying while standing up, leaning against his sword in order to protect the chief investigator from rebelling Yunzhou army. He cut down 200 enemies before perishing, that was when the Swallow Maiden army arrived to the rescue. His death in the novel reminded me of General Aoki in Kingdom movie when he died sitting up and smiling on his horse. Honestly I love this show, but the novel is sooooo much better i cant fathom why they had to change it? Urghhh

They really dumbed down the ML. With his intelect as a detective, he shouldve realized her ruse so much earlier. Ep 18 is like damn how dumb are you?! 🤦🏻‍♀️🙄

Exactlayyyyy. The last episode is so damn unnecessary. What a selfish man and a foolish woman. I didnt even finish watching the last episode, dropped it when FL started running after ML right after she knew that he has been watching her for a year. That suppose to make ghosting her better? What a sleazy bastard.

Horrible ending for me cuz the leads got back together.

Exactlyyyy. I hated everything of the romance part of this show. I stopped midway of the final episode because i just cant stand how clingy FL and how selfish ML is. Already knew FL wouldve forgiven him right away so why waste my time. She literally throw herself to ml every single time anyway. What a cringe

Yeaa ive been watching chinese wuxia xianxia drama since i was ten, even now when im forty the part where they cough blood due to emotional distress always make me drop laughing. 🤣

Exactlayyyyy! I really dont get is it really that hard to just learn to say their english lines coherently. Its a rare occasion that i can even catch what theyre saying, let alone understand it. I dont care how famous they are, if they wouldnt learn proper english pronunciation because their english lines are just fillers instead of a real conversation, then theyre just another mediocre actor who wouldnt put in effort in making their characters real.

And you still fail to understand my point here. They DONT NEED TO SPEAK ENGLISH WITH A NATIVE ACCENT, just speak so everybody else can understand. I just mention stella character because she nailed it as a korean from abroad but thats because she is american. Other actors that doesnt have such background just need to put in more effort is all. A short conversational english class would do the trick. And all u gotta do is speak your own english lines (which arent many). Failure to do this is just poor effort on their part.

Still doesnt make sense if that accent prevents you from speaking intelligible english. Like i said, theres no need for them to completely speak without korean accent, or with english accent like stella hwang character from partners from justice, but at least speak your english line convincingly like somebody who converse regularly in it. A korean who works as a lobbyist in america would do a pretty lousy job if he speaks english like jayden does. Especially when his character is supposed to be raised in america 🤣

Dont know which hollywood c-d grade youve been watching that has intelligible english, but those that i watched are ones that i can perfectly understand. And quit with the budget excuse already, even with high budget drama i still see horrible depiction of “korean from abroad” characters. If youre saying budget is the contraint then all kdrama are low budget except partners for justice cuz they had awesome korean american there.
