First things first: I see graphs + categories + analysis, I like :D
Seriously though, the article is so cool! I didn't even realize how much different options there are ^^ I'm not very interested in the romance genre per se, I prefer when it's just a secondary plot, that's why I also have low tolerance on triangles, squares, and more complicated shapes :) The Toradora-Effect square sounds like fun though, I'd like to watch one drama like that - I added Miss No Good on my to-watch list :)
Last year I watched a drama of A Whole Mess type, but with a hexagon and with an additional third wheel xD and yes, it was as bad as it sounds ^^
Maybe we watch different dramas but for me, costume C-drama= heroheroes are warm-hearted, naive, playful (I am…
I was made aware that the trend of having cold male leads in C-dramas is rather recent, and it wasn't the case several years ago. So maybe you are thinking of older dramas? What are your favourite examples of warm-hearted heroes? :)
Joy of Life is one of my top 3 loves, following Untamed and Word of Honor!Zhang Ruo Yun is just *chefs kiss*!!Liu…
Thank you for the comment! You've got a very nice Top 3 ^^ I haven't seen Qing Luo nor I Will Never Let You Go, thank you for the recs! I tried watching Su Yu, but I gave up after the first episode as I couldn't really stand the ML... maybe I gave up too quickly :)
The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty was a really fun drama. Tang Fan is definitely not the typical male lead. I like Joy…
From my (limited) experience with xianxia dramas - the characters who are cheeky and shameless often give off rather creepy vibes to me... And that's not the type of character I'm looking for :)
You make a good point - the type of main character does depend on the type of drama :) Also - most of the male leads in costume C-drama are burdened with some kinds of responsibilities which make it nearly impossible for them to act and express themselves freely, hence their stoicism and seriousness.
Aaah, thank you so much! ❤️I guess I can't write articles in any other form, years of academia have probably…
Well... I got a bit lucky this time :D It's a good lesson for me though, next time I'll remember to make more extensive research or just ask someone more knowledgeable if the theses of my article are correct, before I submit it :) (yep, you can expect to be this kind of person ^^)
I love Wei Wuxian (Xiao Zahn's best performance, IMO) and Tang Fan is adorable (love Darren Chen )Would also like…
Thank you for the rec! Indeed, the character you mentioned sounds just like the type I described in the article :) I did try to watch Jun Jiu Ling, but I only got as far as the first 15 minutes, and I felt like I wasn't vibing with this drama at all... but maybe I'll give it another chance in the future :)

Oh, I see - I didn't know that :) again, it's the same old problem: so many dramas, so little time! It's hard to find time for watching older dramas when there are so many new exciting ones coming up... And it just so happened that the new ones are packed with cold male leads :)
Nice! I'm not familiar with many Chinese modern dramas, and I haven't seen this one either. But thank you for…
Sounds great! High school dramas are not my preferred genre in general, but this year somehow I ended up watching quite a few of them (all of them were K-dramas though) :) So I'll put this one on the to-watch list, too! ^^

Well, then this begs a question: why aren't there more dramas with such characters? :) Haha, the first draft was very similar, just a little bit more stiff... So I changed some phrases, added some comments, and tried to write the conclusions in a lighter way :)
Thank you for the comment! ❤️They aren't here because I haven't watched these dramas yet :DOn the drama page,…
Ok, thank you for the clarification and the warning ^^ I think I don't mind love triangles if they're done well, and not just for the melodrama purpose. It's good to know the drama is somewhat heartbreaking, though - I have to be in a certain mindset to watch it :) Thank you for the recs! ^^

(...once I find some free time - so many dramas, so little time...)
He did a really good job there, I agree ^^
Thank you for the comment!

Have fun watching them! :)

I can bear terrible CGI as long as the story is interesting! ^^
Thank you for the recs! ^^
When I watch more dramas with this kind of ML, I'll be happy to write a part 2! ^^
