The contrast between romance development and story pacing

I watched this because of Han Yutong and i quite like Lanbo. But i quite not hate it nor like it. It feels lukewarm. The chemistry between the leads was quite restrained.

You can see the production team's effort; the actors (Lan Bo is probably the closest to ML character in terms of personal image and temperament among the five versions), sets, and costumes are all quite well done, but the content is average.

Plot is about FL husband has a secret love interest and is unwilling to consummate their marriage. Facing the dual predicament of her husband's incompetence and internal family strife, FL seeking an heir, uses the opportunity of falling off a cliff while burning incense to get close to the imprisoned ML. ML is actually the emperor's brother-in-law. FL disguises herself as a maid.
After becoming pregnant, FL leaves and cuts off all contact, while also helping ML clear his name.

ML thinks he's the adulterer, is competitive, and easily appeased. When they look at each other, the male lead thinks she truly loves him, while FL thinks she can finally sleep with him. The story was quite dragged for long even the pace is slightly fast compared to other version but the romance development was too slow. The leads only got together befor 5 minutes of ending.

Can watch if you don't have anything to watch.

The premises was good but they ruined it after ancient ML appears.

I watching another Li Youlin and Jin Luying dramas and this one was the weakest drama for all aspect expect the both leads acting and chemistry.

The modern drama parts were honestly quite unwatchable. The screenwriter probably intended for FLs to fight against powerful figures, but clearly failed. On the positive side, the first 40 episodes show the mutual help and touching friendship between the girls. The scene of teaching and performing dance is the best, especially the camera work, transitions, and editing—it's practically perfect.

After episode 40, the ancient ML appears, and everything changes. Perhaps to highlight the ML's role, the ancient FL is weakened in various ways. The original theme of two strong female leads helping each other is gone, turning into a clichéd hero-saves-the-damsel scenario. The modern side is even worse; the entire story is condensed into a single sentence by the agent, which is then read aloud. All the exciting and thrilling moments on both sides are gone, and the villains don't seem particularly pitiful, nor do the scumbags seem particularly unfortunate.

Need to appreciate last scumbag ancient husband acting for being repressed angry due his pride was destroyed by FL. The ending was abrupt.

Nice premises but need improvement for second couple arc

I watched this last year and the premises is quite interesting. FL has severe sister complex. To be with her sister, she marries her brother-in-law's younger brother. Then, because her brother-in-law is suspected of cheating and she want to divorce.
ML has to appease FL while also ensuring the happiness of his older brother and sister-in-law's marriage, acting as their love protector or their punchback.

Wu Yiqiao's portrayal of FL is adorable and endearing, but on few scenes it feels artificial. Hou Pengyan's as family punchback from FL, SML and FL older sister was quite hilarious and pitiful at the same time. I quite enjoy sisters chemistry too.

Personally there is room of improvement for second couple since they lacked of chemistry and their arc was quite limited. SML aka the older brother has limited screentime so we didn't get enough of his character. The villains are quite annoying even it was easily defeated by the sisters. If they polished the second couple arc, i would give the rating higher.

Only for fans.

Hidden Gem in Short drama

I actually watched this drama last November and rewatch this again for better review.

FL is naturally resolute, kind, and highly skilled in martial arts. However, in an era that treats women as worthless, she is trapped as a slave in the home of a local wealthy man. I quite like Wang Gege in this drama she is perfect for this role.

Female power is perfectly embodied. The women in the play initially chose to bow down and compromise and trample their self-esteem underfoot because of the shackles of the era they lived in. However, after being encouraged by FL's perseverance, they chose to take up arms to fight for themselves and their country. Nice!

Plot is about FL is framed for treason due to her sister's jealousy and conspiracy, After her home is affected by the Japanese pirate invasion, she leads the female slaves in her household and the women of the village to take up arms to defend their homeland, relying on three hairpins symbolizing kinship and vows.

ML is carefree person in surface but is actually a funder for a civilian anti-Japanese pirate organization, constantly using his own strength to fight the enemy. I quite like Cai Xin Yang in this drama although the costume was quite simple it embodies his character well. I love this drama since they make our lead to become platonic combo that have one vision without adding romance.

Hopefully, screenwriters in Chinese short drama can gather information on cultural heritage and create a powerful female ensemble drama without focusing on romance.

Delighted because they didn't use force Happy Ending in here.

I watched this since i like Lan Bo and Lu Lu Lu first collaboration and this was also still decent for my liking.

I always think from the FL's perspective, so everything the FL does is reasonable. You can feel that the FL doesn't have much affection for the male lead. She is a merchant's daughter with nowhere else to turn, and can only temporarily rely on the ML for the sake of her younger brother. FL always had a clear idea of ​​what she wanted: neither becoming a concubine nor marrying ML.

It focuses on the plot and rarely depicts the romance between ML and FL; intimate scenes are not a priority. In this storyline, FL doesn't love the ML or rather, doesn't love him enough. She only wants a peaceful life, which the ML simply cannot provide FL needs.

Plot is well-developed, romance is minimum, and the tragic ending is reasonable. However, everyone who dislike tragic endings and only enjoy sweet romance should not watch it.

Scriptwriter loves to add bullying sprinkle on his/her creation

I watched this drama when i was on Zhao Caizi binge watch and realized the male lead is Zhang Yiyang. Both leads have decent acting also their chemistry was fine but the FL characterization was the problem and the bullying was too severe and the first meeting was considered to be rape.

Actually this was the first one where I saw the ML actually apologize for the rape and say FL has the option to have ML arrested. It's very clear in his mind what he did. In other dramas, I only see the CEO apologize and that's it, and everything is forgotten. However beautiful the story may be, we can't forget that ML abused FL, and this type of scene has become fashionable in dramas. Apart from that part about how they met, the drama is ok.

Only recommended for hardcore fans of both actor.

Meaningless Drama that torture us.

I watched this drama just for checking Li Shengxuan works and yeah it was dissapointing.

This drama is incredibly abusive for ML and FL. FL is a substitute raised by the Gu family to house their real daughter while ML was actually rich heir but he become FL loyal bodyguard. But on the middle she suddenly got a brain to get pointless revenge to her adoptive family. FL is also a bully at home, silently enduring beatings while treating the ML with the air of superiority.

ML is love-struck and stupid; despite having the ability to escape the Gu family's hell, he chooses to suffer while he actually has a chance to rescue FL from her abusive adoptive family. The drama's logic is essentially carried by the scriptwriters and the idiotic supporting characters.

The whole thing is very bland, with almost no intimate scenes, no sweetness, only heartbreak. Li Shengxuan weakness is she never had good chemistry with his male lead from every drama i watched.

Avoid this drama if you are common watcher.

Decent story about open secret in entertaiment industry.

I watched this by Youtube recommendation yesterday. Surprisingly this drama was decent watch with good kisses.

Ren Shuxian who plays Talent scout FL has dispute with her ex who happened to be her talent aka SML. Cai Heng plays as SML and i quite like the kisses between FL and SML. SML character development was surprisingly better from scumbag ex boyfriend to become FL friends. I quite like supporting cast and love-hate story between Leo (idol turned actor) and the nepo baby. Liu Shiqi as SFL was not green tea and the helper of FL despite being nepo baby. Her chemistry with Yu Xingchen was burning and their story was quite refreshing.

The cons is the lack of chemistry between Ren Shuxian and Zhang Junjie. But for newcomer, Zhang Junjie plays rookie actor well and show his real struggle. The backstory was actually nice but it was underdeveloped since they only explained on near of the end of drama. It feels they cramped the ML backstory in the end. But overall-it was decent drama to watch.

What if Strong ML & Strong FL conquers?

I watched this because of He Jianqi and Meng Na collaboration. This drama show obviously high budget for short drama. The pacing was fast, the entire cast delivered excellent performances, and the costumes and makeup were beautiful expect Meng Na obvious wig. The voice acting was quite destroyer of this drama. If you understand this drama, it was actually decent one. Since they explore more supporting character story, you need some brain to think and remember.

There are almost no villains, and most of the characters are normal. The legal and monetary systems are normal. The pacing is tight, with no unnecessary trope. Even in this film, it's quite obvious that the ML's background is stronger than the FL's, and he does help her solve problems. However, the camera focuses on the FL's perspective.

ML knows what the FL is thinking, understands her methods and vision, so he goes along with it to help her. They are mortal enemies, yet they understand each other best. Their tacit understanding of each other, their scheming and manipulative relationship, intertwined with their bittersweet emotional entanglement, is delicious. Another appealing aspect of this film is that ML openly expresses his love for the FL later on, never taking off his ring, constantly calling her "wife," and even kissing her. But FL doesn't believe he truly loves her, questioning him every time, and becoming even more convinced that he's joking, has ulterior motives, or is plotting something.

Recommended to watch.

It gives me asadora type of drama.

I watched this drama on December 2025 since i want to see some Family drama and it reminds me of Asadora since they showed Sichuan and Chongqing dialect in this drama.

Wang Daotie's acting is truly solid, and in this drama, his performance is explosive, perfectly embodying the devastation of a middle-aged person losing a loved one. Sun Yiran's acting in the second season is a step up from the first, with more layers in her performance; sometimes, you can feel the emotions she wants to convey just by looking at her eyes. The child actors' acting is also quite good espeicially the Eldest sister, showing great promise for the future. The only exception is the actor who played Zhou Dawei as a child, who was slightly lacking.

Personally i don't really invested on adult version of the children story but Wang Peiyan is gave me a surprise. Duan Meiyang had limited screentime but his acting was so memorable. Deng Ling Shu acting was decent. Zhao Tingyi speech reminds me of My late neighbour.

The cons is the duration is too long but still Worth to rewatching.

The demon part was quite boring

I watched Yunmiao and i still enjoy this despite all the flaws.

There is two main story on this drama; The Demon-Suppressing Family and The Death of the True Heiress. The theme is really good, but the stories need to be chosen carefully. The demon part was not really good and i almost asleep on that part. The heiress one was quite original, and the way of getting revenge was pretty satisfying—killing the enemy every day.

Season 3 is better than Season 2. The story unfolds through the performances of the supporting characters, rather than the monologues and dialogue of Season 2. There's significantly less verbal sparring.

It's great things that this show hasn't declined in quality over several seasons. I felt Season 2 wasn't as good as Season 1, and I didn't have high hopes for Season 3, but it turned out to be a better than season 2. Not only is the heiress part is good but the production maintains its high standard, and the costumes and props are even more refined.

Decent watch if you didnt want to get romance drama.

Actually the plot was decent.

I check if i have seen this Huang Yunyun drama while i actually have seen that and realized i had seen this drama last year since i am not quite familiar with Jin Wang face (forgive my face blindness).

Plot is about Twins are born and the Taoist said that twin flowers blooming together are a calamity for the Prime Minister's family. One of the girls is destined to be a phoenix, other one is destined to bad luck. FL family throw they baby into the cliff. FL was saved by Taoist master. In order to obtain the purple energy, she drugged and kidnapped ML l to escape a calamity, she sexually assaults the ML, causing him to become infertile—and then runs away with twins. ML legs was quite healed after that-but he pretends to being disabled for political purpose.

The only one who suffers the most from beginning to end is the ML. He tells the FL, "I know you'll run away, but even though I'm not as strong as you, I'll still chase after you. You know I have the ability to chase you." Fortunately, the FL is eventually won over. ML is quite respectful to FL choice even he can force her but he knows FL more than FL itself. Luckily ML had the twins as his cupid over FL. The twins are quite smart and wise children.

There is no misunderstanding between the leads ML knows the real FL so there is no identity mistake. I like the ending for every characters in there, they got deserve ending. The only downside is that the MLs acting could have been better perhaps this is one of reason i don't remember the actor.

Recommended to Watch despite the flaws.

Post-Apocalyptic Scam while this is cheesy drama plot.

I was quite interested on Wang Haozhen being in zombie drama and it turns out it was scam.

I'm quite interested in post-apocalyptic superpowers, but unfortunately, the drama didn't showcase them as a highlight. They only showed a few characters awakening their powers, introduced their names, and then that was it. I feel like being scammed.

Why tell a generic CEO romance novel disguised as a post-apocalyptic story? It's the apocalypse, can't we stop with all the romance? There's even this male-female rivalry, and I have to endure the constant banter in this post-apocalyptic setting—it's really ridiculous.

I want to watch post-apocalyptic stories to see humanity's will to live in the face of zombies, and to explore the depths of human nature in the face of life and death? Who wants to see the protagonists just being love-struck idiot? And the post-apocalyptic living conditions are just too good! Electricity is one thing, but there's also a bathtub, steak, cake, wine, cigarettes, and a helicopter—it's really impressive.

The only redeeming qualities are the good makeup and styling of the ML and FL.

If you want to see generic romance go for it but if you like Zombie Apocalyptic, don't watch it, this is scam
