Yes, indeed. Sometimes these rumors are spread to increase the buzz for the project or to attract certain actors and actresses. Sometimes they are nothing but wishful thinking on the part of fans or completely made up by marketing accounts. It varies wildly. From what I've seen, this one's very much up in the air. It seems to have an April or May launch date so we'll have to wait and see what happens.
This casting is completely fake. I think ZYT was approached in the past but rumor is they stopped trying. Li Xueyi is not the male lead. The last rumor dating back to the end of August was Zhang Wanyi and Tian Xiwei but that's also unreliable seeing as no news have come out since and TXW is rumored to shoot a drama with Xu Kai next.

Yeah....that's not reliable that all. There's been no official announcement so that article is just making things up. Bai Lu and Esther are constantly mentioned for dramas but most of it is fake and there's no way Bai Lu and Esther would ever compete for the same role, they're a completely different type of actress from each other. Also Yang Yang hasn't even been heavily rumored for this project. No reliable melon account has said anything.

I know all about denying. I'm on Weibo. My point is there's been dissatisfaction from both fans of Li Xian and fans of Yang Zi for different reasons. There's been plenty of criticism to go around. They have complained vociferously about the screenwriter and I also saw complaints about the stylist. I feel like Huace is doing an awful job with the PR in the lead-up to the launch. If it's really Li Xian, which is 99% possible at this point, they have done nothing to protect their talent but allowed fans to freak out and dunk on Li Xian. They could have kept things extremely confidential until the right time or made the announcement stating very clearly what Li Xian's role is. They could do more to assuage fans regarding the crew and the story, but they're keeping silent which only allows chaos to ensue.

I was interested in the Li Xian rumors getting debunked given that some of them are attached to CXX, stating that Li Xian is a special appearance but CXX is basically the covert ML, although Li Xian would get promoted as the ML.
