Not just how fast but the way they tied it together with the star he gave her, it was such a powerful device and I was glad to see it reused in such a clever way.

Yes, it speaks to the fine hand the writers have displayed throughout the entire series. I'm hopeful for the finale based on how competent they've been thus far.

Major props to the director for not dragging out that SPOILER ---------------> memory loss bit<--------------------. While watching I kept saying YQ is just too smart for this, and I was right. I'm so glad the directors seem to respect the viewers enough not to give us the same shoddy writing as in other dramas where you just sit there rolling your eyes non-stop at the way certain plot devices are milked within an inch of their lives while our sanity and patience gets wrecked.

the way she resolved not to kill the heavenly emperor made perfect sense. I always worried as to how that was going down considering this isn't just her enemy, this is her husband's father---and as horrible as he is, being filial is a HUGE cultural norm in China. That would have made her turn to the dark entirely and damaged her relationship with YQ in the long run. Yes he is shitty, but he is YQ, Ziwu and QH's dad after all. Where he showed no mercy, YT was able to show *some*. She couldn't stoop as low as him. I fully support the decision and tbh I was kinda relieved at how that was resolved. He's a useless piece of trash now.

Thoughts on YT's choice at the 9th heavenly hall:

I doubt they'll have a "short special epilogue" because this drama is a TV drama so they'll probably wanna wrap it all nicely within the 40 episode package.

Just try it...most people who disliked JCZ instantly fell in love with this one.

ugggh yes...the way he always chooses her and trusts her, spoils and cherishes her. He's just the perfect husband all around. He's strong when needed and soft when required.

Fine af..I keep hitting rewind while watching FIL because he's so damn dashing in some of these republican era clothes, and his charm is electric...he's sooo devastatingly charming when he wants to be. I just pretend I'm hearing his (super deep) real voice instead haha
