To sum up, there is not much to nitpick about this drama.

-The plot is nicely written - the characters are believable people, the events are not far fetched, there are no bloody drama for the sake of drama.

-Casting is done well. Reba and YY are made for their roles. They might not be the best among their peers but they did well enough and keep improving. I love them in this drama.

-Production values are great. The drama has good film texture and you can tell Tencent is not stingy with their budget. If only most dramas are filmed like this.

In short, a well made drama 👍

ZXW is getting good review for his two recent dramas. He's fresh looking and sounds like a promising young actor^^

Yes bromance still so cute and refreshing after 6 episodes in, as long as you just took this as a Master/Apprentice light comedy and ignore the two female love interests and badly written cases.

Too bad it's solo broadcast on deserted Mangotv so practically nobody watch hahaha.

Old HK dramas have that clean and neat martial arts choreography. Now neither HK nor mainland can produce the same neat fighting, haven't seen one in a long time. All are slow-mo wuxia or CGI-burst xianxia haha.

I'm looking forward for the wuxia drama 'Heroes' by director Li Muge next because it is a fresh(first!) adaptation for the books and his dramas has great cinematography. Even if the martial arts is slow-mo maybe it will look beautiful lol ^^

From the synopsis sounds like a strong female centric drama - which is gaining momentum in current times, not necessarily Mary Sue.

Most importantly it's PXR lol. She was so breathtaking in Goodbye My Princess.

Peng Xiao Ran! She was the shining star of Goodbye My Princess back then, her acting was impeccable that time. I can still remember her looking so gorgeous in the red costume.

Will put this on my to watch list.

Maybe tight on $$$. Getting the SFX team to reedit the CGIs may need extra fees lol

Yes BL dramas are just keeping it low for the time being because they are under scrutiny by the general public and govt now. Let's wait and see although don't know how long we will have to wait. Sigh I really want to watch this drama.

For now I just keep busy with other dramas. Done with DGSD 2021. I just started watching a MangoTV low cost detective drama and somewhat enjoyed the unexpected comical bromances lol but it's a BG drama though sigh.

The first two episodes are hilarious, didn't expect that the master/apprentice relationship will be so cute with some bromances in effect. Hope for more bromance although obviously we know the MLs have official girlfriends later on.

Early observation from two episodes, this drama is lacking as a serious investigative drama so far, can't compare this low cost comedy with the quality of the completed Crime Crackdown or the upcoming Double Tap, but it seems enjoyable as a comical drama. Hope it can stay enjoyable(and more bromances!) as most Cdramas flopped down halfway.

Exactly, I agree. She matched all her costars haha. One of the few actresses who does so effortlessly.

I don't know about XKC fans attitude to her but I hope no fanwars come out. This is one of the taboo things that C-ent is doing a crackdown on now. Please don't. I hope this drama will air smoothly for Lusi ^^

Her situation in 2020 is different. No one predicted TROTAR and DITK to become hit dramas, these two are originally low cost A-class dramas without much effort and budget for promotion before airing. After these brought much profit than expected then Tencent noticed her great potential.

Therefore this year her situation is different in Tencent and it's a good thing - because she's being recognized for her worth and her dramas are getting the platform's attention and may received adequate promotion beforehand(including this stint at Happy Camp!) Cant wait to watch her ^^

My insignificant 2 cents

Pros: beautiful landscapes, quite faithful to novel contents, acceptable use of CGI

Cons: Xu Zhu and fight with MRF appear too early, uncompelling plot, bad casting, mediocre choreography, lack chemistry between the casts, unflattering film texture(esp the ghostly filter), bad costume designs and some that I might missed.

In short, although I don't enjoy this as much, in my POV it's not that flopped to get 3.5/10 in douban rating, but it's also not a good enough adaptation to stand up to such a big, big IP. If I were to recommend classic wuxia in the past 5 years, there are better works from Jin Yong IPs such as LOCH2017, HSDS2019 and for Gu Long IP HS2020.

Lol visiting and living in Japan itself isn't an issue. The thing with ZZH was that he was found to be visiting Yasukuni shrine which is infamous among Chinese as a taboo place since among those in the memorials are war criminals who terrorized China and other countries during WW2. And he did it 3 years in a row.

I feel bad about ZZH consequences myself and think its too harsh, although on another side it is partly his own ignorance too since the Chinese consider this a 'basic' knowledge or common sense.

Hope our boys here won't get caught with any scandals. We want to watch this drama!

There are such mixed opinions here. However the chinese netizens mostly are scolding the drama but won't affect my prejudgement. They also hated HSDS2019 but I watched later and found it enjoyable. I will try watch DGSD later after all the episodes are available online haha ^^
