I love how all the characters that pop up end up being interwoven, makes the town feel even smaller and the mystery feel more connected. Really hoping the ending is going to land since the pacing has felt a little slow since the first two episodes.

to say that the male lead didn't learn anything is just admitting to not watching the show at all, mukai-kun goes from being a cringe guy who takes a smile as a confession and has no true grasp of commitment, to someone who considers the feelings of his crush first and is able to make people comfortable in his presence instead of awkward. I liked that it took time for his change and that he was never a true asshole or true saint, just some guy. sakaido-san was a little shaky of a character in my opinion until you see bits of her perspective near the end, i really liked them as platonic friends though. I didn't hait mamin, i just wish their story arc was a bit shorter, felt dragged out and convoluted tbh. overall i still liked it, 7.8ish/10.
loved arikino and koda's friendship, it was so sweet and heartwarming. the only thing is i wished the crime part of the story was a little more fleshed out, for example, we see someone in the first episode or so asking about the drugs, then a while after we see the volunteer seemingly having just killed someone, but we never really get confirmation who it was. also why did the volunteer bother arikino anyway, it seemed like it was on purpose. hoping that these loose ends are because there will be a season 2 soon! i wouldn't discount it since nagatan to aoto ichika no ryourijou is getting a season 2 next year even though its been a couple of years since its release!

I think an overlooked thing in this drama that I personally liked is how Eunjung ultimately chose her friend over a man. Not a lot of dramas show this dynamic between women, even though Eunjung liked Sanghak back too, she decided to cleanly put an end to things - in my opinion, it showed that she respected herself while also putting her friend first. That's why Sangyeon said she could never beat Eunjung, because Eunjung is that sort of person, a person who can chose others over themselves. The drama doesn't try to make Sangyeon a good person, it plainly shows how wrong she was from the beginning to the end, but after watching her cry as a child because she thinks she's hated, how she struggles through the death of her brother and mother, and ultimately deals with the frustration of her father, it is relieving to know that at least in her final breath, she was at peace.

Ugh this better become a jdrama with above 8 star rating <.< its so good, people must be blind not to see the charm in the story. Also I always liked the idea of student-teacher dynamics but the age gap always is too icky to actually enjoy, this is such a great take on it imo
