Not in the novel - so new character. In the novel Bai Xiao Lu was female fox demon rescued by Yan Hui a couple of times. They've left out her whole ghost-sensing ability (BXL's mum was haunting YH until she rescued BXL).
Definitely has that RPG feel now with the arena scenes and converting the demons in the novel to monsters....bit of a Double World feel too. Even the music is like the sound track while playing a game :D

hmm....those of us who read novel....Zhou Ye is portraying novel description of Yan Hui. (i actually had hoped Zhao Lusi would act this role, but Zhou Ye has taken it on well!). Leo is portraying novel description of Tian Yao. In particular after he's betrayed he's very careful not to show his emotions. But that scene where he brings food to YH, Leo nailed it. Exactly the feeling as described. Subtle with a lot! So...perhaps we are just a bit biased.
Just need this one spoiler... Su Ying, the one who betrays ML in the beginning, was she always just using him…
always using him, always loved someone else. But her shifu has set up doctrine of kill demons (remember the scene between snake demon when he's young and meets Zhenren Qi Yun and she doesn't kill him, let's him escape), so they use this doctrine to justify getting rid of millenium dragon.
