The whole drama was a mess, at the start FL was always always abusing, shouting, cursing and eve throwing things…
That is the point of the story. It is not your typical melodrama and focuses on the unromantic parts of romance and the struggles of long-term marriage. The story starts with a middle class/lower married couple who are struggling in their everyday lives. The ML is self-centered and not happy/stressed with his work life which affects his life at home. The FL (his wife) is also stressed with work along with housework and taking care of their kid; as the ML seems to busy to help out at home. The twist here is the FL also is stressing about her mother who has developed dementia and the FL is taking the burden upon herself and does not tell the ML this. This caused her a lot of stress and thus she lashed out at the ML for not helping her and continuing to break his promises.

The point of the show was for the ML to take a step back and realize the love he had and his mistakes. As he lives his new altered life, he realizes how much he loves the FL and how self-centered he was. One of the major points of the story is that the leads were destined for each other. Even when reality is altered they find their way back to another. IMO the entire show is cringe, because you know the leads are going to end up together and everybody else in their new timeline gets screwed.

In shows, the leads do not have to be perfect characters. The ML is very flawed in this show and that is the entire point of the story. I will say though that does not mean you have to like the story. I did not love it too much, but it was definitely different.

10/10 for how original this show was. It was definitely trippy and unpredictable.

coming back and reading your comment after a week made me understand the show more than back then, i think it's…
I agree with a lot of your comment too. The break-up ruined it and last few episodes made me not like the drama as much. Like all they do is look at each other at the end of episode 16 and it is implied they get back together. If that is all it took; why break up in the first place. Their reason for breaking up did not make sense either. Was their love that shallow? I'm just going to ignore the last few episodes because it def frustrates you.

The random break-up at the end ruined a 10/10 for me. They broke up just for melodrama's sake. I get that the ML stopped wanting to hurt the FL. The ML was always insecure about being in a relationship due to being deaf and the FL was insecure about their relationship. He was tired of seeing her hurt because of him so he decided to say let's break-up. This really made no sense to me...and is the reason a lot of people did not like the later episodes. Like their total relationship was not even a year but in the last episode we get a break-up than a 1 year time-skip. Typical...smh. Like all they do is look at each other at the end of episode 16 and it is implied they get back together. If that is all it took; why break up in the first place.

I really enjoyed this drama. It is different then your normal drama and is more mature. They use silence to their advantage and some of the scenes are really beautiful. There are a lot of messages to this show if you look deep enough. It is fast paced, although the scenes can be slow due to the sign language. The leads confess to each other early and really like each other and fill in for each other's insecurities. The FL is insecure and has low self-esteem due to her lack of success in life and as an actress, but she is very kind hearted. She meets the deaf ML who has lead a sad life as an orphan abandoned by everyone he cared about. Both have flaws which lead to misunderstandings and the language barrier between the two does not help.

Both the leads have side characters who have unrequited love for them respectively (SFL and SML). The ML's love interest is his past lover from college who hurt him badly and the FL's love interest is her childhood friend. Both the side characters are coming on recent relationships and just decide to intrude on the leads lives just when they finally find love. That's drama for you.

In this show you see a lot about life and the struggles of everyday people. First you see how hard it is for deaf people and the scrutiny they face from the public. Then in contrast you see that even normal people can have worse times and being deaf is not something to pity a person on.

I really enjoyed the scenes with his students and best friend. They had some good comedic moments.
On The Secret Life of My Secretary Oct 24, 2024
I was not a fan of this show at all. The premise just was not it for me and they really dragged it out. It was a simple premise, ML get's injured in EP 1 due to an attack from an assailant (which the audience immediately knows who it is, but the characters do not) and afterwards he cannot recognize peoples faces. He can only see the FL when she wears a specific outfit. Due to circumstance, she acts as another girl during a blind date and the ML falls for both his secretary and the blind date who are the same person. I do not consider this a spoiler because this happens early on and it is the premise of the show; hence the title "Her secret life as another person". As a viewer, you obviously know this is not going to end well and once the ML learns the truth, it's going to be a lot of melodrama. The problem is this drags out for the entire show up til almost the end. The side characters are not interesting either.

This is one of those shows where they show the audience everything while the character's themselves are clueless. The show did not have much comedic moments, the romance was not great as the entire thing is built on a lie and as a viewer you are just waiting for the truth to come out because you know it is not going to end well, but they drag it out and even after the truth is revealed the romance is not that great. There are not really any amazing scenes between the leads. Nothing in this show gets you emotional. You do not really feel for any of the characters as the FL is lying the entire show and the ML kind of acts pathetic. The ML is supposed to be extremely smart hence his nickname "mind reader" however the entire show he acts incredibly stupid. I do not think he had one moment where he looked cool or strong. He is basically clueless the entire show. He relies on the FL and gets pushed around by everyone.

Terrible story IMO. This show would have been much better with 8-10 episodes.

Dropped this after 3 episodes - it doesn't get better. Just boring stuff.
If you don’t like this show, I’m curious as to what other shows you like. This is one of my top 3 favorites. I’ve rewatched this show like 4 times and get emotional everytime. It has 2 leads with strong love for each other and heal each others trauma. Top actors and acting. A nice mystery.

I can see people not liking it if they do not like the genre but it’s the best of its class for its genre. I recommend you at least skim through it if you don’t like it. Im def bias though 😂

Don't bother. The FL's character has a terrible personality and is not very likable. She is very self-centered and not empathetic at all.
On Her Private Life Oct 23, 2024
Man this story is a masterpiece. Similar to what’s wrong with secretary kim. The love between the leads is so strong and both have a hidden mystery/twist with the ML having past trauma that’s healed by the FL.

Too bad there aren’t more dramas like these. I can rewatch these shows forever. Park min is so good at emotional scenes. She can cry rivers. Her acting is so good.

I’ve watched this drama like 4 times and I get emotional every time. It is such a good story. No BS, just a genuinely good story. I never rewatch dramas and this is one of the only ones I do because the moments between the leads are so good from start to finish.

It was nice seeing multiple girls being the ML's love interest as opposed to multiple guys courting a girl.

I really enjoyed this short succinct drama. I have a short attention span and have been skimming through a lot of dramas, but this show captivated me right away and I couldn't skim. I can't put my finger on it, but I really enjoyed the somber start and background music that set the tone just right.

This drama is very unique and does not have a lot of melodrama and the same boring plots used in other dramas. The characters draw your interest from the start and the pace is good. Maybe I've seen to many melodramas in a row and this was a breath of fresh air but I really rate this drama highly. I enjoyed everything about it.

You have a ML who is smart, but his background is below average and he does not really have any friends; a FL who is a declining pop star due to her poor mental health; and a SFL who everybody likes, is smart, has a good background, and is outgoing. The leads grow closer and fill in each other's flaws through unexpected love as their back stories begin to unravel. It's a really good unique story.

The story itself makes sense and you can understand why the characters feel what they feel. The ML does not have much confidence in himself and lacks self-esteem which leads him to misunderstand people. The SFL does have feelings for him and if he took that step forward or was more forward they could have dated a long time ago. This is something that happens in real life often. Girls are simpler than you think and the ML's lack of self-esteem caused him to misinterpret situations or not take advantage of certain situations. Relationships can really be all about timing. The FL has daddy issues which is actually common, and her manager who she relied on and trusted abandoned her. When in reality, her manager only used her and did not really care about her. These two characters lives begin to mesh and they fill each other's gaps and begin to love each other. They start as friends and see each other's pain and help each other and through that find love.

The cinematography and background music were amazing. This was a really well made series.

Title Suspicious Partner Spoiler
2nd FML(Cha-yu-jung) played by Kwon-Na-ra slept with ML (Noh-ji-wook) played by Ji-Chang-Wook's best friend Eun-hyeok…
Not really. She feels remorseful and it is really just a part of the ML's backstory. The cheating is not really a big part of the plot. The ML, SML, and SFL went to law school together and were all best friends. The SML always had a crush on the SFL who dated the ML (they were in love). I guess the ML did not give the SFL the love she wanted and she cheated with the SML.

They do not really bring it up a lot and both the FL and the ML's best friend feel very remorseful about it. The plot is mainly about the ML and FL. The side characters romance is barely any of the story. The story focuses on the main crime which IMO takes way too damn long to solve considering they show you who did it early on and the main focus is getting evidence. I'm just glad there was no triangle relationships. That woulda been annoying. In the end as you would expect, the ML and FL get together and the SML and SFL get together.

exactly, if he did not show up; they woulda had sex. Half their clothes were already off all over the floor. The 2nd FL admits this when talking to the 2nd ML which is why they did not tell the ML the full truth because it does not matter. They cheated, end of story.

They did not "sleep together" but were going to. They had their cloths off and it's implied they probably were making out and being intimate before the ML caught them. IMO it is still cheating. That's why they never told the ML the full truth because in their opinion, it's the same thing and would not have changed anything.
On Suspicious Partner Oct 22, 2024
I'm surprised that this show is so highly rated. Almost everything that happens in the show is plot armor based. The whole story really does not make sense, except for the fact that things happen because of plot. It is crazy how the ML is able to swap between prosecutor and defense multiple times according to plot. The entire story is nonsense. There was a lot of filler as well. Sure the romance between the leads and the actors/chemistry was amazing, but the story was so basic. It uses so many of the same overused melodramatic tropes.

That being said it is still a solid average drama worth watching for the main leads. 7.5-8/10 for sure.
On Perfect Marriage Revenge Oct 21, 2024
Solid 8.5/10. I actually really enjoy these short dramas (12 episodes). The show made sense and was not overly dramatic except for the crazy stepmother (which is a parody on evil step mothers) and her daughter. Other than that, the show progressed fast and did not waste time introducing the characters. You come to understand why each character does what they do and feels what they feel. The romance between the leads is also good with them each having their own traumas and overcoming it together.

It may be boring if you aren't in the right headspace, but overall it is a good drama and worth the watch. Solid actors, solid acting, decent plot, fast paced, not a lot of the same melodramatic BS (triangle relationships, amnesia, random break-ups, etc.). The premise of this show is the exact same as Marry My Husband. Literally almost exactly the same, but with different characters and background and this show came out first.

This show does an amazing job at showing why the characters do what they are doing. Even the side characters. They state it explicitly through conversation which is something i really enjoyed.

I don't like makjang and dropped after 1st ep. Is it worth watching? Is it get better?
The show actually is not that melodramatic. They explain all the character's personalities in a quick and succinct way that makes you understand why they take the actions they take. Sure some of the characters are psychos and do crazy things but you understand why they are doing what they are doing. The plot progresses fast, but does slow down a little as the FL does not acknowledge the ML's feelings for a good while because she has low self-esteem but once he confesses the romance progresses nicely. It is good that it only 12 episodes! The plot makes sense and is not that overexaggerated. This show is very similar to Marry my Husband which people seem to love.

Both the main leads in this show are pitiable but loving; especially the ML, which makes their love story a good watch IMO. Although I did skim through some parts, it is a solid drama. 8-8.5/10.

Nice lighthearted drama. Solid 8.5/10. The SML in this one is annoying though. Dude ignored the FL’s crush and only when she wants to move on and he got dumped did he realize his feelings. No pity from me. He had multiple girlfriends while the FL kept getting hurt by him. Even in the last episode he has the nerve to say never hurt her to the ML when the ML has only done everything he could for her happiness. The SML deserved to get dumped twice. Like you are her friend but realize the ML was willing to give his life for the FL twice. What has the SML done for her 😂
