Pod has never been one of my favorites, but I like him in this. A pity that the adults have as "adult" a relattionship as the kids, who are already behaving like 6th-graders.
I wish Kim & Kit were the main couple - that would be amazing. Kit's face during the card reading was genuinely perfect this episode, and Tar & Per hit their usual home run, but this series is getting dreadfully boring.
I think it it had a lot more humor like the class photos and the tarot reading and were 8 episodes, it could have been a 9/10.
I don't get the casting. How is it plausible that little twig of a man is a gold-medal gymnast? Pre-teen gymnasts have more muscle than he does. They keep referring to him as this dazzling, entrancing celestial being, and he's so mousy and timid. Introversion =/= severe social anxiety, and nobody that terrified of everything could attain that level of gymnastic mastery.
Jeong U is so unbelievably hot that anyone would fade in comparison, but that just makes the pairing more absurd. But the way he behaves is weird and creepy, thrusting his face into Ji Won's all the time.
Anyway, I'm watching it for Jeong U and because everyone insists it gets good, but the first three episodes were a real chore to get through and I can't stand Ji Won.
Twelve episodes is way too many for such a non-existent plot. This could have worked as 8, maybe 10 at the most. It's so boring with no relationship progress, or so glacial it's barely noticable.
The writing is good in terms of action-reaction, but the chacters don't have... characteristics of real people of their type. Like for instance teenaged boys, who are well known for being terrified of sex (that was sarcasm) or acting like little girls regarding relationships (also sarcasm). Is being kissed on the cheek equivalent to being send a dick pic in Thai culture? I've never seen boys so excited over a kiss on the cheek.
I thought Kim's quandry being stuck between Mon and his mother (who are both awful, BTW) was well-handled, written, and acted, but Mick's non-existent acting is deflating what could have been an interesting relationship, because Luke is really good.
I think Chokun is underrated - he's killing it with Kim. The scene where he talked about wanting to be taken seriously was excellent.
Mon laughing at Kim's nervousness when he was giving the speech gave me the biggest ick. What we've learned from…
Why? Kim lied to him about his feelings on the matter, then went against him without discussing it first, which is cowardly. Mon shouldn't take schadenfreude out of his discomfort, but he's hurt and betrayed. It's a normal human reaction. People here want everyone to be perfect at all times instead of behaving like real people.
I don't fault Kim either - both sides are putting pressure on him - Mon playing the bf card and the principal using her power. It would be hard for a teen to navigate that.
I'm sorry, but Mick's acting sucks. And that is surprising when one sees his personality on a music stage, or…
I agree. He's very good at the one expression that's ever on his face, but even when he was self-rejecting as a model student, there was zero emotion in it. I think Chokun is underrated - when he was talking about not being treated seriously, it was quite strong.
The writing on this is good, but is it even a BL? There is no hint of it so far, and no real indication they're even attracted to each other, although you can almost take for granted that anyone would want Poom's hot body - he's so perfect it hurts.
Anyway, this is more of an afternoon special about how cutting school even once leads to drugs and a life of crime, not a romance, and I'm getting bored, except for when Yo takes his shirt off.
The power dynamic in the show flows entirely in one direction: Sorn is the older guy, Jun's boss, and is more…
Ha HA! It is YOU who didn't understand what I meant. I wasn't talking about that either - I meant that I thought Jun was more mature than Sorn in this episode except for his "burn" saying they only had sex when Sorn wanted it, which was childish and so false that it was embarassing. Issues of consent don't really cross my mind unless, well, there's a lack of consent, which is never on BLs. At least not since 2020 or so. Or always, if it involves an uke, who is too infantilized to grant consent, even if he's 30.
The power dynamic in the show flows entirely in one direction: Sorn is the older guy, Jun's boss, and is more…
Agree, but it was a little low to say that every time they had sex it was only because Sorn wanted it - that was almost an accusation of something, and it isn't true. But still, this is the first ep where I felt Sorn was nearly 100% in the wrong.
And it is here. Age gap freaks, cry me a river. I drink your tears. Lol.
The age gap is fine, especially with their being no apparent age difference between the actors. It's the writing that's the problem.
Funny how you can't mention someone's phyiscal shape, gender, or just about anything else, but ageism is perfectly OK. I had a 26-year old "show me the ropes" when I was 19 and I wish I had a lot more of that - way better to be with someone that knows who he is and has some experience than being stuck with a horny teenaged boy.
It's just bad. Half the first episode was boring inner monologue exposition, and the rest of it was chewed up by horror of walking in on someone in the shower, which would bother a Korean and Thai 0%. Do female writers never experience high school or something? Or is it that BLs are so closely modeled after hetero romances that nobody realizes that men wouldn't care about being seen in the shower by another man? I could see the Thai guy being scared that a stranger wandered into his bathroom, but then he would have a fear reaction not a "oh my God I'm naked" reaction.
I wouldn't devote that much time to writing the above it it weren't for that being the only thing that happened in the episode and it taking up most of the episode, which was too short to feel that long. This is a poorly-written string of cliches.
I can't recommend it. It's too bad because the Thai guy is hot.
I love Poom and I tune in every week to watch him. But this series is dreadfully boring. Or at least this ep was. I find cartoonishly evil villains lazy and amateurish writing, and the drama has nothing to do with the main couple's relationship - I want to see some organic development betwen them, and I feel no chemisty at all. I'm not sure what it is that's missing, but I don't for a second believe that Jom and Yo are into each other. The glances have no heat, and they don't even like being touched by each other, so I don't know why they threw in that stick shift mistake.
This has potential, but when it's not about Poom or the three mischief boys, I have trouble fighting the urge to ff.
I love how it's Sorn's fault that Jun was eavesdropping on a private conversatioin and got hurt.
While I agree that Sorn is more to blame for the mess that this relationship is, Jun also doesn't say what he feels, and often says the opposite. Remember that the only time he told Sorn he liked him was when he was dead drunk and as a result, Sorn didn't believe him. He usually goes out of his way to be dismissive or behave in a way that deliberately hurts Sorn - as opposed to Sorn, who shows an enormous amount of attention to Jun, although he's so emotionally incompetent a lot of it comes out as nagging.
I think it's very clear that Sorn's feelings for Jun are as strong as Jun's for Sorn, and he is giving Jun mixed signals all day long, but that he says their relationship is sex-only (even though it's not) should be enough of a red flag to Jun that he should demand clarity.
He hasn't ever told Sorn what he wants, so why is it Sorn's fault that he isn't giving it to him?
This is the problem with the BL genre - it's conditioned the audience to think of the uke as the "woman" in the relationship, so the audience overwhelmingly sympathizes with Jun, who is just as manipulative and uncommunicative as Sorn, but in a more passive way.
The real difference between them that makes Sorn more to blame is their age. Sorn is more experienced and there is a power differential, both because of that and their respective positions at work.
Great spicy scenes, no plot whatsoever.I mean, I have been watching 8 full episodes of Sorn's toxic antics and…
There most certainly is a plot and character development - and more than in most BLs which have absolutely none of either but nobody ever seems to mind.
I can’t believe I’m writing this seriously about a show where the love language is allergic reactions and…
This particular BL isn't written by women for women, it's written by a man for a mixed audience, which is why so many women don't like it - it doesn't stay in the "safe BL zone".
Notice how people are saying the actors are "brave" or should be "paid extra"? As opposed to violent series or one where they have to engage in athetic fights that require training and risk injury?
There's a level of homophobia embedded in the genre and audience that leads to comments like that. (Not your comment - I mean the type of comment above)
This discussion section is a frustrating. There are a lot of people here who think that Sorn telling Jun they're only fuck-buddies completely absolves him for all of his behavior. He is absolutely NOT treating Jun like a casual sex partner. I don't know about you, but I don't take fuck-buddies home to meet my mother, get jealous whenever they spend time with anyone else, including my own brother, obsess over them, have to be with them constantly, and forbid them to see anyone else.
Do you not see the difference between what someone says and what they do? Anyone over the age of about 10 should be capable of enough moral reasoning to see how Sorn's behavior is emotionally abusive with mixed messaging, leading Jun on, and his possessiveness. They are absolutely not just fuck-buddies. Sorn knows it, and he knows Jun has feelings for him as well, I don't think he's a bad person or anything, but for people to blame Jun for all this just blows my mind.
Anyway, I really like that the sex in this is passionate and not the after-school-special hyper-romanticised and totally bloodless schlock that's standard for BLs. I think they're putting too much of it in - I think we crossed into soft-porn a long time ago, but at least they do it well.
I don’t like all these reactions of people waiting for Sorn to start suffering. Are we supposed to just ignore…
It actually isn't all that understsandable why Sorn is keepign Jun at a distance. His ex was underage and Jun isn't. What happened to Sorn was bad, but I think we can overuse the word "trauma".
Also, I don't get how so many people can't distinguish between what Sorn says and what he does. He is absoliutely treating Jun like a boyfriend. If he only wants a fuck-buddy, then why does he forbid Jun to see anyone else, take him home to meet his mother, get jealous, even of his own brother, whenerver anyone spsnds time with him, and why does Sorn obsess over him and have to spend every minute with him?
Just saying "We're fuck buddies" doesn't absolve him for his behavior - they clearly aren't, he clearly is in love with Jun, and he absolutely treat s him like a boyfriend at all times. That's mixed messaging and as the older and more experienced person, he is absolutely in the wrong.
I might be the only person that doesn't hate Sorn. Sh*t i might like him. From the very beginning it would have…
Sorn is absolutely treating him like a boyfriend. You don't take an f-buddy home to meet your mother, obsess over him, get jealous at everything, and have to be around him constantly.
It doesn't matter what Sorn said, it's what he's doing that matters, and he's hitting Jun with boyfriend expectations without being willing to admit it. He's leading Jun on and it really isn't fair.
