On My Sweetheart Jom Jul 18, 2025
Sigh. That was dull. The rascal fight was cute, and Yo is both cute and hot, but I don't feel any chemistry between him and Jom. I don't think it's been built up well, and while Yo's swagger is sexy, it comes off as a challenge he's been given rather than his actual feelings. Playing the sound of a cat growling when a girl shows Jom attention can't replace real romantic energy.

Also, the villains in this are so imagination-free and cartoonish that it makes the entire plot a tedious diversion from the romance. The actor playing Fluke is so superior to all the others that I find myself a lot more invested in the straight romance than I do any of the BL, not that there is much of the latter.

Holy exposition, Batman! I'm 21 minutes into the first ep and it's 100% exposition so far, with the two rivals having exactly the same personality and having a really, really long conversation where they tell each other things that they both already know just for exposition. That is terrible writing.

This is highly recommended, so I'm going to slog therough the first ep or 2, but I hope it starts developing characters soon. So far the guy with glasses is the only one that has a personality.

I'm sorry. There is no comparison here between this show and Old Fashion Cupcake. OFC was stupendously written,…
I'm sorry to hear this - I was hoping it might be good, although a 40-year old man who has conversations with his stuffed animals and dresses up in a child's pajamas is a Bastille Day's worth of red flags. Sigh. I'm on Ep 1, which is OK so far, but it's slow and I'm taking a break.

On My Sweetheart Jom Jul 12, 2025
I give up. This is so awful, predictable and barely a BL that I'm demoting to ff-ing for shirtless Poom scenes (Yo Poom, not Fluke Poom).

I was reciting the plot to my screen. "They'll be interrupted now." "They'll be interrupted again." "They'll be interrupted again." "They'll somehow fall out of the boat and one of them will stay underwater for absolutely no reason in order to totally incompently and ineffectively generate tension, and then Yo will kiss him."

The boat scene was totally ridiculous, with Jom insisting on going home and wrestling over the oar, all of which was totally out of character, especially since it was obvious Yo had something important to say, and nobody try "He was trying to avoid what Yo wanted to say because he knew what it would be." That would be even worse, since Jom has already told Yo he likes him, so he wants Yo to like him back and would love to hear that above all other things.

Ugh. the writing is so awful! I like the cast, but the humor is so unfunny and slapstick (and yes, I know, Thai culture blah blah. There actually funny Thai comedy - this just isn't.) there are so many extraneous plots (all of which are non-BL. All the side couples are straight.) and predictable and endless interruptions to stretch out a three-episode story into 12. How many interruptions and petty attacks by the cartoonish villains can you stuff into a single story. The answer is apparently "yes".

Yo Poom is hot and Fluke Poom is a very talented actor - he'll blow everyone away if he ever gets a lead role in something good.

I can't stand Earn and Kaew. I've already decided that their annoying presence will bring down my rating one full…
You're too generous. I'd substract 0.2 or so if they didn't chew up half the episode.
On Sweetheart Service Jul 11, 2025
The female villain really derailed this series and stripped it of its charm. Very disappointing. Strongberry has given us a lot of wonderful and quirky BL, and this one has become dreary.
On Memoir of Rati Jul 7, 2025
You know, the more I think about it the more bothered I was by Ep 3. So Rati is angry that Thee lied to him about who he was, which was the only opportunity for a dramatic conflict between them, and it's resolved immediately through a superficial plot device which paints Rati is weaker than a consumptive 5-year old who gets a fever and faints due to the stress of teaching one class - but this also paints him as incredibly superficial because all Thee has to do to be totally forgiven is wipe him with a damp towel?

Damp towels are bad enough a trope and cliche for their miraculous healing powers, but now they can also wipe away conflict as well? If the French are worried about Thai hostility, they can just dump a shipment of damp towels at the dock and all will be forgiven (for anyone who isn't familiar with history, the French have bullied the Thais for decades at this poimt and annexed about 25% of their territory, including all of Laos - including bombarding Bangkok for no reason).

Why should I care about the main couple? They're dull and shallow. If it weren't for the far more interesting secondary couple, I'd probably drop this for its awful writing - which I wouldn't have said after the first two episdoes, which were good.

But that's BL - there's some gimmick which works for a couple of episodes, and then it relies entirely on incredibly tired cliches to drive the plot rather than the characters themselves.
On Memoir of Rati Jul 6, 2025
Ep 3: I'm a bit disappointed they did the "uke can't do anything, even teach an indoor class, without the exertion making him faint with a high fever" trope. Which of course mandates the "cure a fever with a small damp towel" trope. If you had to label me anything, I'm closer to an uke than a seme, and I can work for 10 hours a day indoors without getting a fever, and I'm a tad older than Rati. (OK, many tads older.)

Can we talk about how hot Guy is as the prince? Holy moly. That smile. It hurt a little.
On Memoir of Rati Jul 6, 2025
It is not at all funny that the maid keeps smacking the gardener in the head. Imagine if that were reversed.

I wish I could sprint for miles in 40 degrees and a billion percent humidity wearing full court dress and not sweat even a drop or have a single hair out of place.

This is very Jane Austin, but I'm enjoying it.

The cut version is missing all of the racier scenes, as well as other scenes, someone which I think give more…
Oh - thank you very much, I thought the YouTube version was cut. I'm not sure there's anything that qualifies as "racy" yet, but I suppose there are a few things that are less "G" than others.
On Memoir of Rati Jul 6, 2025
I thought Inn was great in Teddy Bear, but I'm not feeling him in this or that other series these two were in. Something is missing.

But I love that it's a period drama and they made some effort - the awful French is a little cringey, but I imagine it's hard to find many French or French-speaking actors wandering around Bangkok.

I believe it's because he's never seen TD only his secretary but older
But didn't he sign all his notes "TD"? And didn't he recognize the handwriting on the note Thada left for him? I guess we're supposed to suspend disbelief, sort of like how nobody recognizes that Clark Kent is Superman because he wears glasses.

I'm on Ep 3 - I'm trying to understand how Armin doesn't make the connection between Thada and TD. When he was drunk it was understandable - but it actually shows him later reflecting on it.

I wish the series would do without cliched shots of the seme catching the uke whenever and wherever he trips - but I did like that they were very realistic about how hard and exhausting it is for even a muscular guy to wrangle a drunk fully-grown man home. Sometimes in BLs it's comically easy - like giving a semi-conscious person a piggy-back ride for miles, which is beyond absurd.

The hair... why? It's not 1999 style. I want to take clippers to Armin's hair so badly, and even Thada's mullet is anacrhonistic. But there's a point you have to suspend disbelief when the entire cast are playing their characters with a 25-year gap.

The writing on this is fairly solid so far. But the chemistry is too one-sided - I hope it evens out.

I think this is more a Lakorn than a BL - but I'm not complaining, it's a nice break from the formula.

I scanned all the way to the bottom and found not one other post making the same point as the one you're ciriticizing. I did, however, find you following around anyone who had anything negative to say and attacking them. I can turn this around: if you don't like it, then leave the forum.

What are you talking about? The poster is just commenting on the story because this is... wait for it... a discussion forum.

How fragile are you that you have to lash out at anyone who has a different opinion than you? It was a balanced post with positives and negatives - in fact the only negative was that Iclabon72 didn't think the wiring hasn't made Thada likable and compelling.

Explain to me what in the above is rage bait. You can't, because there isn't anything.

I don't feel it at all. I don't think the staring is creepy, but that's just because I've seen a lot of BLs and the creepiness has worn down to an exhausted "sigh" through endless repitition.

did something interesting happen in this ep?
No. Well, maybe - it's not often a BL character realizes he's actually full-on gay and not just a basically straight guy who falls in love with one specific guy. So there was that. You could watch part 4 ff-through everything but the coming out scene and the shirtless rain scene and you would miss absolutely nothing.
