I did like that people outdoors wearing long-sleeve shirts were getting sweaty - through most BLs I'm always having trouble paying attention because I'm thinking "how can he be wearing a leather jacket in 40 degrees and 1,000% humidity without sweating in the slightest?

I feel like this show was designed by someone who was aiming to make me hate it, but they failed because I love it, I know that I should hate it, but I really enjoyed watching it.

OK, that was terrible, and yet I really liked it. Cooper is really good at comedy, and he's so sexy - even the way he walks gets me going.

Also, my impression of Marc has been nearly as low as it can get for My Gear Your Gown, but I like him in this, and he's become really handsome.

I could probably be expected to hate this, and yet here we are. Can't wait until next week.

I think one thing that really works for me is you have two "seme" actors paired together - it's unusual and really dynamic. I'm so excited to get two guys for once instead of a guy and a consumptive 12-year old Victorian virgin.

I just came from Bed Friend which was the most horrendous example of seme-uke awfulness I've ever seen, so this was like a fresh breeze on a brutally hot & humid day.

Same. This is truly awful, but it's now my favorite show.

I don't like that trope either, but here I'm OK with it because he's from a different era. As long as they don't go overboard with it, it's even a little funny.

This is going to sound strange, but I actually kind of like it. Nothing really happens and it's not very exciting, but it's kind of a nice mindless way to spend 45 minutes.

I have rarely loathed as series as much as I do this one. From that opening scene, where if I were King I would have said "Sorry, asshole, I'm way hotter than you and you can take your rules and shove them up your constricted ass along with whatever stick is lodged in there."

There's a point where you just can't suspend disbelief anymore. This is just an old-fashioned straight romance with a boy dropped in the woman's role - even with the bizarre showing leg thing.

And sorry, but if your trauma is so severe that you think you're a child and your evil uncle is molesting you in a waking nightmare 20 years later, then you need very urgent treatment. The writing is terrible. All that they've done, and what sets him off is someone wanting to dry his hair? I mean, whenever anyone tries to dry anyone's hair in a BL I'm certainly triggered - by the inane overuse of a stupid cliche - but I didn't think I'd ever see a reaction like that onscreen!

I feel zero chemistry. Well, that's not entirely true - I feel all the chemistry that can be felt from Net, and absolutely none from James. It's not fun watching one person look like he's going to spooge all over his partner at any moment while the other one acts like he's being raped.

TBH, I'd rather rewatch Physical Therapy and Check Out in a marathon binge than finish Ep 3 of this.

It's skin tone, looking as European as possible (e.g. Bright) - or failing that, Chinese features, and height. Short, dark and Malay-looking is fatal to your leading-man prospects.

I feel like everyone's overreacting to the cake. Itt wanted Day to spend time with him - it wasn't really about the cake. And it was his birthday. The subtitles are abyssmal.

UN is worth watching for its sheer glorious awfulness. Where else can you get stoned tigers and bodyguard orgies?

I understand what you're saying, but this is a discussion forum - the whole point is to give opinions and critiques. Sometimes an irritating narrative develops that doesn't seem to actually reflect what's going on, like "there's no development", but I haven't really seen too much of that here. It isn't even really a totally unreasonable critique - almost all the movement happened at the end of Ep 3 and this ep, so I can see that people might find the beginning a bit of a rehash.

But if that's what you mean, I sort of agree with you - yet I'm a little confused, because you seem to be saying it's better to just say "I hate it, i'm dropping it" than to give reasons why you don't like it.

There have been times people have changed my mind by pointing out things I missed, and vice versa. It can be nice to share things you love, but I think I learn more from disagreement. Likewise, "Kiyoi never said 'I love you'" is a valid critique if you're unaware the subtitles are wrong, and discussing that here was an opportunity for people to learn that and change their impresssions.

Or if this discussion hadn't developed, I wouldn't have found out that I'm NOT actually the only person in the world that didn't like Blueming. I don't even like the title - my brain sees Blue Ming, and there were no vases or Chinese people in it.

I couldn't get through Ep 3. If it were so bad that it was good, I could do it. I got through Unforgotten Night just fine. But I have no idea what's going on and I don't care. I'm just bored. There are attractive boys in this, but sometimes it's not enough. You can't make the main character that dull and uninteresting and hold your audience.

That speaks to the ageism in BL. Over the age of 25? Meh - cannon-fodder. Toss her off a cliff if it leads to meeting a cute boy. Or a cuddle with an existing cute boy.

I get you there. It's funny, men are supposed to be shallow, but it's the genre aimed at women that's so surface-oriented that it's barely watchable. I keep asking "why is Perth playing a side character in a drama full of terrible actors?" The answer is, he's dark and short. Therefore, a side character, despite being a 100-times more talented.

Yes, yoyu're totally right, I'm just being nitpicky. I think maybe the overall effect was too exaggerated for me and felt artificial rather than like a real person. It might have been better to have him be a bit weird and anti-social. On the other hand, Mark Zuckerberg is a real person (allegedly), but if he were a BL character we'd all think he was way OTT.
