I forgot about that because I hated TMS2. If I'd skipped it all except the last 2 eps then I might have liked it. You're right, that was very well done.

That's a good point. I'd agree with all that.

I think the friend likes him as more than a friend.
He may say he did it to make Seon Ho jealous and so force the issue. It's hard to say because both he and Mu Yeong are played by such bad actors that I can't tell what either of them are feeling unless their voiceover tells us.

I agree with these except maybe Old Fashioned Cupcake, which I think conveyed sexual attraction fairly well - remember the thumb scene? But in general Japanese BL has fallen into last place in that regard. Nobody is complaining about the kiss in this - everyone thought it was one of the best kisses so far in a Korean BL.

Some of you are being overly critical of this drama. If you want to watch smut just watch KinnePorche or gay porn...…
Here we go with the "if you want to watch smut" BS. What we want is for the behavior of the characters to make emotional sense. Basing the entire plot on completely ridiculous miscommunication and having characters expressing everything through voiceover instead of acting makes for frustrating viewing. It has nothing to do with wanting smut, and in fact the opinion on that is overwhelmingly that one of the positives of the series is that when people do kiss, it's actually a kiss and not the weird pressing their lips together and looking uncomfortable that we usually get from Korean BL.

bro what💀 istg ppl always find something new to complain abt. ill give it to you nice and simple "gilrfan62"…
I know, it's amazing isn't it? People complaining about things? It's a good think you're not doing it, right? It's much more civilized to launch a personal attack on an actual human being than to criticize a specific element of a series in a forum the purpose of which is to discuss series.

The casting isn’t working for me with this one. I think my issue is with Mu Yeong and the friend. They’re…
I 100% agree - I caqn't invest in Mu Yeong except when he takes his shirt off. A good actor can play a stiff character and still communicate emotion. Here everything is done with voiceover, so the entire series is "tell, don't show". And with nothing happening that makes any emotional sense, the problem is worsened.
On Oh! My Assistant Dec 16, 2022
I like some things about this series, but I'm really over this type of plot that relies on an incredibly implausible miscommunication and stretches it out FOREVER. In Ep , Mu Yeong openly ogles Seon Ho shirtless, Seon Ho pressures Mu Yeong to go shirtless, calls him sexy, and makes out with him. Then gets a hard-on when standing close enough for him to feel it, and it would be noticeable, unless he's extraordinarily small - and he keeps bringing up gay topics.

How is it remotely possible these two are that clueless? They're in their 20s.

This is a step forward, though, in that it's not shying away from kissing.

As Jojo said, he wanted to tribute to the EXACT (currently One31) dramas in late 90's-early 2000's, which at that…
I think I'm not fully understanding you (mostly the use of "exact").

It seems to me that very many BL series have Mafia/Thai-Chinese disputes and so making another one isn't really a homage as just being unimaginitive, or at least just following a current trend.

A true homage needs not to be the same thing everyone else is doing. If there were a Godzilla-themed BL, that would be an homage, but if all BLs were Godzilla-themed, the first BL to do it is an homage and the rest are just copying that.

Why are there so many engineers in BL? Because of SOTUS, where being an engineer was important to the plot. It's never important in subsequent BLs (acutally for about 15 minutes in Bad Buddy it mattered), it's just there because SOTUS was successful.

Why would you want to make a series that copies bad dramas from 25 years ago? If this was the first series to do that, sure, it might be fun - but nearly ALL series do that now, so it's not so much a tribute as lazy and tiresome.

But I'm less worried about that than all the BL cliches, e.g. there is absolutely no reason for them to be in high school. It doesn't even really make sense.
On Wall of Dawn Dec 15, 2022
Title Wall of Dawn
It's Mind Trio, so it could be excellent - but the trailer had the wipe-the-food-off-the-corner-of-his-mouth trope that makes me nervous. If one of them is an engineer I'm making a run for it.

I'm watching so many airing dramas at the moment but might start this, is it worth it so far??
Too early to tell. So far I'd rate it mediocre.

Off to a great start! I'm so glad it's not the typical HS BL (although, My School President is also unexpectedly…
I do like My School President. But adding high school to this story feels like checking a box and is unnecessary. This series is a bit too stuffed with cliches - and oddly enough, My School President isn't. The plot is, but there's no jumping off a fence to be caught and stared at for 45 minutes.
On Never Let Me Go Dec 14, 2022
I was cackling like a madman when they spent all that time talking about his father and then he showed up all in WHITE and Phuwin made that b-day wish. "Gee, I wonder what will happen?"

I liked this, but it is so predictable that it's a bit silly. It's so painfully obvious who was behind what happened that there's no suspense. They could have put some effort into making it a dramatic twist. And is high school necessary or are they just checking boxes?

Why do they have such a powerhouse support cast (Nice, Chimon, AND PERTH) and never give them leading roles?

It's a bit mediocre and stuffed with cliches. Pond and Phuwin are stiff, but Pond has improved. Phuwin has good comic skills, but in this I'm not sure. The writing is a bit by the numbers. Neungdiao was way too hostile to Palm, and then the turnaround at the end of the episode was too abrupt, but the plot required it so it happened.

Anyway, I'm not sure the leads can hold my interest, but I really like the support cast.

Uncle is creepy, but damn. He can creep all over me.

It will go down to an 8.3 or maybe an 8.2 once there are more votes. Usually a few fanatics leap in and give it a ten, and the people who watch it first are more likely to like it, unless they're let down after being excited about the trailer.

Review Ai Long Nhai
Hey, Thank you for your comment, I actually agree with it in part. I think we have all gone out to a club at some…
What do you mean by a drunk person can't legally initiate sex? I must be one of the worst criminals in history.

I do agree about your comment about normalization of non- or questionable consent in BL in general, but I didn't see that here - in other cases it wasn't clear that one of them wanted it (for example TharnType or Love By Chance), whereas here it's quite clear both did.

I guess I just don't agree that there's a moral issue here. I thought it was clear that neither of them was very drunk, or they wouldn't have been able to have such a coherent conversation. There's a big difference between being inebriated and severely impaired.

BTW, the duck was given to Nhai by his father who challenged him not to lose it - he didn't have it because he had some child-like love of toy ducks.

Review Ai Long Nhai
Hey, Thank you for your comment, I actually agree with it in part. I think we have all gone out to a club at some…
He's an aerospace engineer and doing well in university, so I doubt he's mentally challenged - he's just a brat. That was the whole point of the story (such as it was) - Nhai wanted a "test-relationship" for a month because he knows he's a nightmare and wanted Ai to prove he can put up with him.

As for rape, I think it's better to reserve that word to situations to which it's applicable. Drinking doesn't make you unable to consent (although it makes you more likely to) unless you're unresponsive or nearly so. Both of them were capable of normal speech and walking straight, not to mention being able to "perform", so neither was severely impaired. And it was Nhai who initiated it - fairly aggressively, despite Ai trying to refuse him, which he did several times.

I think you're right that people need to be careful when drinking is involved, but it's fairly normal for adults to drink and have sex - if Nhai were a high school student I'd agree it was problematic, but this is two experienced guys in their 20s.

But if you were interpreting the story such that Nhai is mentally deficient, then I would agree it would be a problem, but I don't think that's what was intended - I think he's just supposed to be very high-maintenance. But I can certainly see why it could be seen that way because Nhai is useless.

Yes, all the food boxes and sticky notes was cliche at most,
It is cliche, but what saves it for me is that it's Bai Lang doing it on purpose to woo Xun An, and not some accident that throws them together like tripping into an accidental kiss.
