No it doesn’t end happily in my opinion. A sad commentary on how much things still remain the same. Even with…
I get what you're saying, but isn't it the opposite of that? In is a product of his time, and Wang is a product of his. In couldn't break through his societal conditioning, but Wang could. Some of that is differences in character, but I think most of it is the difference in time. When In was Wang's age, there was barely an internet and no access to positive representation - Wang is surrounded by it.
I've dealt with it, but I'm sure I struggle more with internalized homophobia than I would if I were born in 2002 like Wang. (Jesus. I'm so old.)
I've been seeing different reviews on this, why is everyone crying? Does it end happily?
There's a lot of difference on that subject. If you're looking at it as a romance, then it doesn't have a fairytale ending. But if you're looking at it as a coming of age for Wang, then it has a happy ending.
Because the title is "180 Degree Runs Between Us". [sic] Also, because the high quality of the writing was so high I was pretty sure there wouldn't be a cheap and unearned happy ending and the setup didn't really provide a path to an earned one.
I (later) understood it as Nhai was sad that he got in between Ai and Ai's love interest (Nhai not realizing the…
That makes sense. I didn't think he felt taken advantage of, but he did seem a bit overwhelmed with what happened, and I read it at the time that it was too much to take in all at once. But I'm glad they didn't go with a tedious gay panic plot, and instead just had him trying to figure himself out, which is how I hope things will be for LGBTQ+ kids in the future everywhere, i.e. not any more horrible than being a teen already is.
I agree if it's your first time or you're really young. But almost all adults have sex after having alcohol. It's…
I totally agree about one being drunk and the other not. One thing you also don't notice when you've been drinking is that you're annoying and bad in bed. I don't know how anyone could enjoy that. And I would agree its a bit more questionable, because you have to wonder about the motives of the sober person. When you're both drunk, you've almost always done it together, even if you meet in a bar, so the intent was likely there before you started drinking.
I completely disagree. I think Ping is a better an actor than Meen. Are you sure the imbalance isn't really that…
Yes, I agree about immature-acting ukes - I'm over it. I thought the writing at the end was poor - it was just unconvincing that Nhai would go from "I'm not like that and can't be in a relationship with you" to "but let's give it a months' trial anyway". It lacked any emotional authenticity.
I'm kind of on the fence. I thought Ping was really good after the sex but whether or not the weaker peformance at the end was him or the writing, I'm not sure. We'll see, I guess.
That's just where he stays at school. That would be pretty generous for his parents to get him a penthouse for…
You are quite right and I didn't think of that, but I probably still had my retinas burned out by the shirtless Meen scene and wasn't able to notice anything else for a while.
Yes - he planned it because he wanted to meet In. Remember when he recited the location to several decimal points? Somehing like 47.8769304 degrees? That meant he knew precisely where they were.
It is not a serious series, nor I am going to be serious about it or give any critical review. Production aspects…
It did have processing of sexual confusion, which is not cliche, and I can overlook some production issues for a low-budget production (but not the editing and dialog weaknesses, which is just a matter of ability).
But I don't care about any of that because Meen took his shirt off. Sorry, I'm shallow.
People take an example with this episode, never have anything intimate with someone who has drank alcohol, even…
I agree if it's your first time or you're really young. But almost all adults have sex after having alcohol. It's what alcohol is for - so your inhibitions are lowered and you are able to do what you might be too insecure or shy to do otherwise. If someone is nonresponsive, then absolutely not - but anyone who can carry out a coherent conversation like that is not too drunk to consent. But again, if you're a teen, better to stay away from situations like that.
Also, Nhai regretted it because he was worried he pressured Ai into it, not because he regretted the sex, which he said was really good.
I'm sorry but the car he is driving and the ''condo'' he lives in don't match at all.. why was it so small ?
That's just where he stays at school. That would be pretty generous for his parents to get him a penthouse for student housing. Also, they probably have a limited budget and can't afford to use a penthouse, whereas a BMW dealer would almost certainly let them borrow a car for free advertising.
I've dealt with it, but I'm sure I struggle more with internalized homophobia than I would if I were born in 2002 like Wang. (Jesus. I'm so old.)
Come to think of it, none of the drunk people vomited, which counts as a minor revolution.
If Wang set out to find him it would be fairly easy with the internet, especially as In was now a successful architect.
I'm kind of on the fence. I thought Ping was really good after the sex but whether or not the weaker peformance at the end was him or the writing, I'm not sure. We'll see, I guess.
