That was the laziest writing I've seen in a long time. Why on earth would Kim deliberately eat that? And again, the magic damp towel wipedown, which can cure food allergies. They should just use it on Kim's parents.

They better have a good explanation for how they found a pilot willing to do that, and how anyone had time to disembark. I'll reserve judgment on this one.

How could that truck be there? How could they even know he would go out, let alone be right there? Plus the silly telescope falling and pulling off the rose petals. If only she had a mustache to twirl.

Then the hospital scene - Payoo and his father just stood there without saying anything and then let Kim look under the you-know-what? They are horrible people. (Or would be if the writer had any undertanding of human emotions. They don't, so I can still love Payoo.)

And what a stupid plan. So many thing could go wrong that it was suicide to even try. The scene from next week seem to indicated Payoo's father figured things out, so does he call security? No, not when you can use your own child as a human shield.

That was supposed to be dramatic but it was so OTT ridiculous it was almost funny. When the writing is yanking you out of the story so hard it dislocates your shoulder it's hard to really find anything dramatic.

And what was with the random horse scene? What an awkward edit - not to mention the ten minutes it took the bike to get from Point A to Point B.

Most episodes of this show have had things I liked in it, but this one even made Payoo unappealing.

And what was with Sun acting like it was ourageous that his love interest wanted to cuddle with him (possibly while asleep)? When are we going to drop this stupid convention that ukes have to act like the seme is a leper with oozing sores? That was intended to be comedic, but it made so little sense it made me question Fluke's acting ability, witht his exaggerated sighs. I mean, he was still angry about it 3 hours later! WTFityF?

But I don't see how it's even ambiguous - I'm not saying I'm right & you're wrong, but there was nothing about that shot that suggested sex. The framing of the shot suggests the answer to Wang's question "when did you wake up" was that he never slept - and he's still practically comatose from the conversation the previous night, so that's meant to tell us he hasn't come out of it.

After all this buildup, there's no way they would just have them hook up offscreen with no setup - the whole central issue of the story is that In has been in a prison of his fears, down to him actually framed behind bars when he's talking - from fear of being with the man he loved and worshipped to being f@#$ed by his son is a bit of a leap.

Likeability is definitely a problem here - we'll have to see how it goes.

I think I'm getting Jaded about product placement, BTW - I just snickered. After the 20-minute long stream of commercials in Vice Versa a couple of episodes ago, it's hard to phase me.

That was just spectacular. I didn't think there was anything unclear so I'm confused why so many people thought there was ambiguity, but maybe this is a case where I missed something.

The "one word" can only be one word - when In said that it seemed clear what it was.

And if In wouldn't let Wang "you know what", he certainly let him "YOU KNOW WHAT". The central conflict of this series is that In has been in a prison of his fear - to the point that he's actually behind bars when discussing who he is. Wang asks him when he woke up, but he's lying stiffly in unwrinked sheets, showing us that he never slept at all, and has been virually comatose since their discussion. I think we're getting conditioned by BL, where people dress for artic expeditions to go to bed. Most Thai men sleep shirtless, and they're simply comfortable enough with each other to sleep normally.

This is writing and directing at it's best. We've now had two entire episodes - pretty much the length of a feature film - that's entirely dialog, and yet it's riveting.

It's amazing how well the story was supported by the framing of shots, which told you so much about what was going on in the characters.

Notice how they're seated - In is behind bars, and Wang is free of them, with on foot in In's prison - he's gone in only far enough to release In. After their discussion, In is no longer behind bars, but he's still got a foot inside - he's been liberated, but can't quite escape his prison yet.

This was so sad and heavy, but I feel so incredible after watching that. Other than a mild panic attack that there are only two episodes left.

I know that we don't all see things the same way - but 8.3? Really? This is only .1 above Vice Versa?

They absolutely did not - it's impossible. In wouldn't even let Wang kiss him - do you think right after that he's going to let him f@#$ him?

I don't get how it's possible to think they had sex. The phone rang just before Wang kissed In, and In likely would have done exactly what he did after Wang came back.

I differ on the dialog - I find it riveting.

Don't forget that In was in a world where you can't be gay. If he's 45, it was around 2002 - even in the USA it still wasn't easy - in fact, even 2 years ago it wasn't possible to be gay in the Korean company I worked at. It's not pathetic, it's the tragic reality that we all face.

You can understand to an extent because you face discrimination all the time. But imagine if you had to keep it secret that you were a woman because everyone thinks that's morally degenerate and you would lose everything if people found out. This is a culture where corrective rape was widely used to "cure" lesbians.

And people are especially intolerant of gay teachers - there's the fear they'll molest or try to convert their students. If you're a Millenial or younger, it's hard to understand how quickly the world changed - it seemed like a miracle in 2004 when the US Supreme Court decriminalized sodomy, and it seemed impossible that gay marriage would ever be legalized at that point.

And In feels that he essentially killed Siam - that's another layer of anguish.

No, I agree with you. But the interaction is how they look at each other, what their eyes and body language say that might contradict the words they're speaking, etc. It shouldn't take much to see it - like in 1,000 Stars, it was instant, with hardly any words spoken and with them disliking each other. Having sex IS interacting, isn't it? If you can't give us chemistry when you're actually having sex, it's hard to imagine it being any better under any other circumstance.

Or if you're watching 180 Degress, it was instant there, too, and both of them were hiding it.

Maybe Fah and Sher will surprise me, but I doubt it - although maybe as they're both rookie actors they'll improve. But if they don't, I still have Prince & Gear. I think one thing they need to do is stop casting zero-experience actors in main roles.

I don't mind the emotional distance - but what isn't working is the lack of physical passion, which I think does need to be there. It wouldn't need to be if it's a one-nighter with some random throw-away character, but this is the main romantic pair. They can even strongly dislike each other - but there has to be chemistry, or the audience can't invest in their relationship.

They're feelings can develop later, but not the chemistry - if it's not there, it's never going to be there.

I agree with all that, like word-for-word. Awkwardness would have been fine. Total lack of detectable attraction for each other made it not work.

Sometimes if there's a strong animal attraction between people it can be one of those tear-off-each-other's-clothes moments, but the problem here was that I didn't feel any animal attraction - not really any attraction, so the toilet stall scene just didn't work.

I would think it depends on how close the friendship is. If my best friend asks me about something personal, it would seem normal, but I might find if intrusive if a casual friend were asking.

But I'd be curious to hear he answer to your question too.

I don't expect to be lovey-dovey, but I expect there to be a lot of heat in the one-night stand, not cold and mechanical sex in a toilet stall. That wasn't having sex, it was getting off.

I do agree with you in that I don't see a comparison to Check Out, though. The chemistry was erratic there, and sometimes quite good, but by the end nobody cared - we all just wanted it to be over, hopefully involving Daonuea falling into a woodchipper.

Here I don't buy the attraction between these two, and I don't think the acting is there. DId you notice how almost everyone seems immediately invested in Prince & Gear? Why do people like them so much after only a minute or two of screentime but are left cold by the main pair? Because we feel the chemistry, and the acting is better.

Regarding one-night stands, I absolutely expect there to be chemistry, or what's the point? If I'm going to have a one-nighter, I need to be attracted to the guy. Even if I'm not planning to see him again, there needs to be a connection. (I'm too old for that now, but when I was younger I was a bit of a monster.)

Your comment makes me wonder if maybe people have differing definitions of "chemistry". To me, it's the heat between the characters - an example of powerful chemistry would be Vee and Dome in You're My Sky, or for a current series, Phayu and Rain in Love in the Air.

It sounds like you're talking more about what I would call "compatibility", which I would agree isn't something you're going to be sure about after a one-nighter.

Here's my take, being from a place that's largely Asian - between gay friends, it's almost like calling each other "she" or "girl", or "girlfriend" - not really serious. A guy I've dated on and off calls his best friend wifey - neither is particularly more effeminate than the other (although the friend is higher maintenance, and my fb is a lot more muscular) - I take from it that they're partially adopting the term from Asian media. So I don't think it says all that much about the nature of their relationship.

In short, I don't think the term is very meaningful and we shouldn't read anything into it, but rather what the characters tell us the nature of their relationship is.

Fahlan isn't cheating because he's not in a committed relationship. He's a player, for sure, but that's not the same thing.

I didn't get the impression that Sher is alcoholic because his friends seemed shocked at his behavior and nobody reacted like "here we go again". Maybe he is, but it seems unlikely a BL will address an issue like that.

They're the main couple, so the actors kind of have to have chemistry or it won't work. Even in stories that are Enemies to Lovers, the good ones have great chemistry between the leads. Compare this to Love In the Air, which I think is less coherent than this series with worse dialog and production quality, but the two leads have fire between them.

I think the point is that these two are really into each other - neither of them can stop thinking about the other, so there needs to be more between them than just getting off. It's too cold and I can't invest in it. Even rough sex needs to have a sensuality to it, or it doesn't work. It would make sense if the one-night stands they had were passionless, but it can't be that way between the main pair. Otherwise it doesn't really feel believable that they really want each other. Why would I want to go back to someone who I had bad sex with in a filhy toilet stall?

Prince and Gear, on the other hand, have instant chemistry and as you can see in this section, the audience is way more invested in them even though they've barely interacted so far.
