Maybe I'm wrong, but the jumbled use of the word "junior" and casting 25-year old actors as high school students is confusing. Santa is way too developed to be 15, so is Oreo as Sand and the boy in question whose name I can't remember. Ironically, the oldest actor (Earth) is the only one that could possibly pass as 15. Anyway, I can't buy any of these guys as less than 16-17. A high school Junior should be either 16 or 17, and a college freshman is 18 or 19, so the maxium difference is 3 years. 16 & 19 is pushing it, but I'm OK with it if it's all initiated and pushed by the younger person.

If they're 15 and 20, I agree, not OK, if for no reason than the mystery of why a 20-year old woman would want to date a 15-year old.

That was sort of frustrating for me.

I liked the camera work & the editing, and most of the acting, but for me, Seeiw is just too whiny and childish and I just can't connect with him. It bothers me that they make him both effeminate and weak to the point of uselessness, as if these are somehow linked. He's more Cake's infant sibling than anyhing like an equal.

There are things about this that are different, like the way they don't plaster their faces with makeup so that they look like teens - but then it leans on really tired tropes like pinky-swears and piggy-back rides, which is creative bankruptcy. It wouldn't be that big a deal in a "standard-issue" BL, but this one has pretenses of quality and it really pulls me out of the story.

I think the central problem is fairly common to ukes - Sieew isn't really a character, he's a caricature. What are his ambitions? Hobbies? Interests? Talents? Any abilities at all? He can't even run or walk reliably. I don't think we've ever seen him accomplish anything unaided. He serves no purpose other than to be an uke, and he has no existence outside of being an uke.

Theory: BL writers imagine their fantasy man and make him the seme, then insert themselves into the story as the uke - so they don't give him a personality because he doesn't need one. The author knows who she is already and she just inhabits him. I don't know how else to explain it.

During those close up of Santa towards the end of today's ep....why didnt they bother to shave him? He's go so…
He's a junior in high school, not a junior high-schooler. He's likely 16 or 17. I'm not Asian, but I had to start shaving when I was 13. If he were in Jr High he'd be 11 or 12, in which case you'd be correct. The subtitles are confusing, especially to English-speakers because the word "junior" is more specific as it applies to school, whereas in Thai they're referring to someone younger than they are, so it's more general.

There is no pedophilic in this okay just because a girl likes a guy younger does not mean shes being a pedophile…
I think it was confusing because those two women in the market were talking about someone totally different but it could have been taken as her - the subtitles in this are not the best and it can be hard to follow.

the p*dophilic subplot is ruining this for me
I think there was a subtitle problem. The women in the store were talking about someone else, not her. He's a high school senior, so he's 17 or 18 and she's 1 or 2 years older. That's not pedophilia. The women they were talking about was someone 25 dating a 15-year old, which is much different.

I think I know what you mean - that "shy" routine of his, which was fine at first, but he ends up after the NC scenes covered with bite marks, so it's a bit late to be shy now. I do also get a bit of a sense he does it because Phayu likes it, which is a bit different.

Yes, but let's also not fall into painting effeminate gay men as weak and fragile - very often they're the least fragile. Does an athlete have stronger mental acuity? I'm not sure about that. Sometimes the most "masculine" gay men are the most insecure with the greatest internalized self-loathing.

The problem is money. With money the rest is no problem. He can always wash his clothes - but you have to wonder how many coins he would have to use for laundry!

And thank you SO much - now I can't stop thinking about these things either. :)

Yes. Or rather no, I hadn't, but I do now, and given his behavior I think your theory is correct.

Is it because of his IG posts? I think he's trying to be provocative there, so he might actually want that response. Sometines provoking a response is a way to get people to look at their assumptions. Did he say he's upset? If people are attacking him there, you almost have to ask "why are you on the IG of an openly gay man dressing as an underage school girl? Were you looking for gay men, or underage schoolgirls?"

Earth strikes me as a strong person, and his posts are bold and to me say, "If you don't like it, go f@#$ yourself." I think it's great that he is bold and doesn't feel he needs to hide who he is, and if people have a problem with it, why should he care? He has 2.1M followers to support him.

What do you feel is childish? I'm not seeing it, so maybe I'm just missing it. He seems like he understands what turns Phayu on and plays to it. I didn't like the line "you're such a tease" because at the moment Rain was absolutely not being a tease, but in general he is, and it works.

I'm definitely not defending the writing - it's bad. But I tihnk Noeul is doing a great job - Boss is unusually hot, but I feel like Noeul has a certain fresh charm that makes the series work.

The great chemistry between them requires both of them, and both of them are stepping up.

He's Asian, so he keeps better. And at least he showers. But yes, he must have had cash stuffed in all his pockets, his underwear and socks, in his shirt, and a passing armored truck must have somehow dropped a sack of cash on the way to the bank. To be fair, if he had cash, he would likely have more than he would need in 2007 since the won in the future is worth less. So if you needed lunch money, you'd bring 10,000 won in 2007 but need 14,000 won in 2022, so if you were armed for lunch in 2022, you'd have an extra 4,000. Which might mean he could also have a cup of coffee.

As for locking doors, people aren't allowed to lock doors or password-protect phones in BL. It's against the law as it would greatly diminish he opportunities for implausible misunderstandings.

I agree about the overly-easy acceptance of a weird room-invading serial hugger. But as for the rent, he might have had cash on him, and the process of signing a least would have been really long and tiresome, so I give it a pass. And as for the phone, it would still work, but there wouldn't be anything to connect to - for me it would just do that annoying beep like when your line drops, but maybe it's different there.

But the unbelievably accepting reaction of Ji Hoon is of course a much bigger problem. It doesn't matter how nuts the premise is - we can accept the "rules" as long as they're consistent, no matter how weird. But people still have to act like people.

Aww, shucks, thanks. For me it was a bit of a wasted opportunity, because those two really look like they're into each other, which is probably why everyone likes the scene, because usually the actors look like someone is holding a gun to their heads to make them touch lips together.

But better dialog, direction and editing could have made this the best NC scene in in BL.

I've always felt that it comes from both misogyny and homophobia. It's treated as immoral for a woman to seek and enjoy sex, and likewise for a man to seek and enjoy being penetrated. That's why both are often forced by the man (an uke isn't really a man, after all). It's less morally objectionable to be a rapist than to be a passive homosexual or a "slut".

So the uke always has to behave like being kissed on the cheek is a massive outrage.

Ohm may have the personality of wet cardboard and I'd have no interest in him as a boyfriend, but I'd still like to be locked in a room with him for a week or two, because, well, I'm a guy and he has a hot body.

I think they were trying to make it more raw by the rapid edits, but it would have been better to make shots linger and develop. Even if you're not conscious of it, your brain is confused when someone's not where they should be in a scene, like if a second ago they were on the right and now they're on the left.
