Yes, I agree. I'm not sure about Akira because we've gotten almost zero backstory about him. We know he had a crush on his professor and that he inherited the laundromat and wanted to go home and run it.

I would say all indications are that he's ridiculously immature if he still has a crush on someone who rejected him when he was 17 ten years ago. That's mildly ridiculous even by BL standards.

That's what I said - I have a friend who's only had sex with one person and married the first guy he was with as a teen (they married later but got together when he was a teen). The age difference is about the same as between Minato & Shin, too.

I agree. When I was 35 I had a bf that was 25. He actually had a very established "type" (me to a tee) and knew what he wanted in a partner. We were togther for 4 years and continued umm, "special ex relations" thereafter until COVID.

Age difference makes almost no difference by the time the younger guy is 30. Before that it's more of an issue. The other thing I've noticed is that class difference is a huge problem. Even if it's not an issue for you and your partner, it certainly is for your family & friends. I have a brother that is estranged because his wife is not acceptable to my mother.

Definirely not common, but I'm friends with a couple where the younger one has never had sex with anyone but his husband because they got together when he was a teen. It happens. It's just not usual, epecially for guys, who tend to take a long time to grow up.

TBH, I can't in good conscience recommend against watching it. There are scenes you may have to ff through to avoid a coma, but a lot of it rises to the level of "so bad it's good." Although if you're from an area that suffers from droughts, there are scenes that will enrage you. And if you're from a place wher removing shoes indoors is normal, there are scenes that will make you homicidal.

Yes, everyone keeps wearing sweaters. In Thailand. California is considerably cooler and drier than Thailand and I don't even own any sweaters. And all the black and three-piece suits. I might be convinced to wear a white linen suit, but probably not.

I think it was fake. Watch really closely - when there's a real tiger, it's a composite image - when you can see Kamol touching it up close, the tiger is suspiciously still.

If you're the type of person that's interested in long-term relationships, a teenager is probably not your best choice - it's usually only when you get to Minato's age that you're old enough to know who you are an what you want. A teen may be in love with you today, but that can change fast. And if you're not interested in a relationship with him and he (thinks he) is iinterested in one with you, it's probably irresponsible for you to do it.

In short, it's generally not a great idea, but all cases are different. These types of reasons are probably what Minato is stressing over, and maybe there's an undercurrent of his being attracted to older men because he's a big ole bottom and wants a daddy. It seems to turn him on when Shin is being aggressive and domineering, so maybe Shin is the daddy he seeks.

The subtitles were so-so where they existed, but there were stretches at importan moments where they stopped. It's pretty bad. On he bright side, it doesn't matter so much what they're talking about because nothing ever happens.

It is, but I wouldn't do it if I were him. Well, I probably would, but I would know that I shoudn't. The problem is that until you reach the age of 18, your parents get to decide if the sex was consensual, and if they decide not, you have a problem. But I completely agree with you that it's ridiculous for us to impose our puritanical assumptions on other cultures. I was whacking off like a madman from the age of 6 and played cops and robbers with the neighbor kid - he was always he cop and inevitably catching the robber involved dragging him into a closet (symbolically delicious - he was Mormon) and humping me until he got off.

The point is that we over-desexualize children with the aim of protecting them, and in the process leave them totally unprepared to cope with sex. I was an altar boy, and getting inappropriately touched by priests was part of the job. It was an eye-roll situation back then, but today I would probably be traumatized for life.

There are some good moments in this, like the sheet scene, but come on. The ridiculous number of obstacles being thrown between them is starting to feel like a flimsy fig leaf for pathological avoidance of gay intimacy. We have Minato's hesitance about the age difference, which I'm fine with - it's an internal obstacle, and dealing with it is his character arc. Then we have the teacher - OK, the contrast and dissonance between Minato's attitude toward the much younger shin and his feelings for the much older teacher is interesting. But the other boy (who I can live with because he's adorable), and a girl, and another girl. Sigh. Enough.

Anyway, I'm guessing Ep 6 will be enjoyable because almost nothing has happened in 1-5, especially with the main couple, so it will all have to happen in 6, which is somehow the last ep.

I was just in upstate New York and got caught in a horrendous rainstorm - my sneakers and jeans got soaked and it took forever to dry - Thailand is wetter and hotter, unless you have a drying machine handy, they'll get moldy. I don't think I got the jeans completely dry before I packed, and this had unpleasant results.
