not the last supper comment i can't πππ i never watched this nor the trailer but i saw the stills and…
Aw, shucks. Thank you. I pretty much just slogged through it because of Son. He's also an accomplished classical guitarist. I hope to see him in something good someday.
I like this a lot. Tae has become one of my favorites, and Tee has grown up nicely and his acting is so much better than in 2moons.
But wouldn't it make sense for Tin to find out why & how the accident happened before going to sleep, then divert the motocyclist? That would save 2 people. But overall, the writing is great. I love that characters pick up on it when someone is acting strange or lying - Tol is just the right amount suspicious but giving the benefit of the doubt.
Anyway, that is the hottest medical staff I've ever seen - I'm looking foward to GapSing. I didn't notice Rit was Fiat at first - I love the look. But there's no extra guy for him, unless you count Mild, who never gets anyone. And I also didn't notice that Dr. Sing was the sexy older brother in The Yearbook - he's slimmer now and his character has never smiled so I didn't recognize him, either.
One thing, though - I had to break up this ep because there is so much secondary embarassment that I could only watch a couple of minutes at a time - does that die down?
Okay, this drama has the most horrendous, terrifying CPR I've ever seen. After seeing that kinda of CPR, I would…
You're right, but what would happen to the actor, who is most likely not suffering from heart fauilure, if you gave him real CPR? I suppose they could kill him off camera first and then revive him for the shot - but it would be a real hassle if they needed multiple takes.
the biggest thing that bothers me with this series is that prakan does not understand the purpose of a soul reaper…
Yes, that's getting tiresome. Anyone over 10 years of age should be able to easily understand the differece is between what a reaper does and actually killing people.
What th f@#$ was that? At least when I watched Physical Therapy I wasn't afraid it was the result of a stroke, or someone slipping acid into my food.
Why did they dress in Ayutthaya attire and pretend to ride horses and have terrible teeth for one scene? Is that a reference to something only Thais would get? And there was a lot of very strange staring.
It would be OK if all the silly scenes were dreams and fantasies, but most of it is happening for real. Also, it would help if the comedic parts were funny. This is too weird and immature for me. Is it aimed at young children?
Why is it that the fans of this series are so bent out of shape over criticism? I don't like it when people just poop on a series without explaining what they don't like, but the purpose of this place is discussion, not so that anyone gets an echo chamber for their opinion. Most of the posters here like it, so is it that bad that some don't?
I was starting to like it in Ep 3, but Ep 4 was so dreary that I ended up ff through it. To the post-showering scene, which I definitely watched. I took a glance at videos of Holland, and he does not normally look like a drug addict as he does in this series. Most BLs use too much makeup, and Thai series use that annoying soft-focus filter, but the makeup in this makes them look deceased. Makeup is not expensive - this is not something affected by a low budget.
There is no chemistry at all between the main characters, which makes it hard to engage. Holland has no presence, and his acting is... there, I guess? He's not terrible, but I don't get a sense of his character. That's probably partly writing, but you can still convey emotions that you aren't verbally expressing, and he's not doing that.
The run time of this was taken up almost entirely people who are out to drag down Bada or take advantage of him, and it's just unpleasant to watch. Bada and Tommy are so different in outlook that there should be plenty of drama to mine between the characters - do we need 2.5 villains? I want to see character and relationship development.
I guess it's progress that the evil ex is actually male for once. And Han Gi Chan did take a shower, which is always welcome.
I'm gonna guess it is a translation thing. "Chromosomal abnormality" is at least doable for me anyway. It also…
I agree. I edited the subtitles for Country Boy 2 and I left in P/Phi, as in P'Mon - English has absolutely no variation in forms of address - we don't even really have 2nd person - "you" is plural (i.e. we dropped "thou"). We don't get cuteness like "Nong misses Phi" which instead is translated "I miss you", losing the nuance of the third person, and the intimacy and respect.
And only service people can use Sir and Ma'am, so you're stuck with "hey" or "excuse me". You could probably use them for someone two generations older, but most of them won't like it.
I mean, while i have heard of the british being mean to foreigners and immigrants - thats not the reason theyre…
The hate can be more visceral in countries where it's a sin in their religions, but in my experience its a lot more pervasive in Asia - you're more likely to get understanding parents in the West, and there are way more legal protections. My last job was a Korean company, and it's a company that's a third of the Korean economy, so not an outlier - I couldn't survive there due to the homophobia. Gays can have "women's jobs", but I was a director and that isn't acceptable. It was like being in the USA 40 years ago.
The Philippines and Hong Kong are the only Asian countries that even approach the USA in acceptance. Even Thailand is 60th out of 175 countries and way below the West. There are even several Islamic countries ahead of all Asian countries (except, oddly, Laos) - Bahrain, Syria (!), & N. Cyprus.
I'm gonna guess it is a translation thing. "Chromosomal abnormality" is at least doable for me anyway. It also…
They also frequently translate "OK" as "alright" as if OK weren't English, and "now" as "first" Also, the term "easy peasy" often escapes from the 19th c and finds its way into subtitles.
There is not word that's equivalent to kathoey that would work. "Queer" is too broad, "trans" is overlapping but not the same. I would do what we do, which is avoid references to gender in conversation with people you don 't know wherever possible. If you're trying to get a stranger's attention, you'd say "excusee me", or if it's loud and crowded you might refer to something that isn't part of a person's body, like "excuse me in the magenta top".
First... wow. Kudos for even attempting to tackle a subject like this, and more kudos for doing it fairly well.…
I think everyone's overthinking it. Amber was used to interacting with Le Chien as a female, and he he's in love with him, plus he was surprised. I would have reacted like that too.
I'd rather just skip any scars or body "irregularities" and stick to the essence of the story - anything they try in that regard on a low budgete is likely to not work too well.
As for the physical body, depending on when he was finally able to get approved and into more intensive treatment…
I think he just looks like a guy - we can see his build, and we've seen a good chunk of his body, so unless they load him with prosthetics, I don't think there will be much to his body. That's not really the point of the story, do it doesn't really matter too much. It would be nice if they could be 100% accurate, but I'm satisfied they even addressed this.
That's a great question - I've noticed that too. Possibly it's because when they're promoting they have finished filming and know each other better - plus, BL is obsessed with the characters behaving in a "masculine" way, which means no touching. When they're messing around entertaining a live audience, maybe they cut loose more. A lot of BL actors are also in boy bands so there's an interest in cross-promotion. Finally, when they're filming, the director, producer, and acting coach are controlling things and want the actors to be "not gay" - but in a live event, it's marketing and promotions people in charge and I'm sure they encourage the actors to be as affectionate as possible to get the fujoshis shrieking.
I don't think sex is used to cover deficiences since sex usually IS one of the deficiencies - most BL sex scenes are kind of weird and the actors so clearly don't want to be there that it can be funny. But in a BL where you have two adults (as opposed to high school characters), it's a little strange that they behave like a kiss on the cheek is a huge thing - like in Physical Therapy, the main couple at the end of the series were 30 and had been in a relationship & living together and sleeping in the same bed for 5 years and had STILL not had sex. That's starting to stray into homophobia - nobody would expect a straight couple under those circumstances to remain chaste.
It's OK. It has potential if it gets a plot or something. This ep was about a guy taking an exam, talking to his mother on the phone about taking an exam, and other things that are interesting to nobody whatsoever. But I like the strangely sexy Mark Erasga (strange because he looks 12 [he's 22] from the neck up, and I've had a soft spot for Daryll Rodriguez since Cheat.
The camera work and editing is interesting and effective.
I gave it four eps. I couldn't keep awake in Ep 4 and nothing ever really happens. An expressionless character can work well in a manga, but it doens't work at all in live action - it just makes him a boring robot, and the cat people are too cutesy and immature. I think this is aimed at much younger viewers. I'll probably scan future episodes in case Gap takes a shower.
This is kind of trashy without really delivering on hot scenes. It's more interested in advertising products. I think T is really cute, so there's that. But G is a judgmental asshole.
What are you all whining about? Almost all the commentary is positive, and almost all the negative commentary is about the makeup, which is perfectly justified. Anyone who would make Han Gi Chan look like a sick 40-year old should be executed for crimes against humanity. That was slightly exaggerated for the sake of drama, but he does look sickly and older than 23. He's like one of the hottest guys on the planet - how hard is it to make him look good?
Anyway, this is OK - not great, but I love Han Gi Chan, so I'm not leaving. I'm not feeling any chemistry between the leads, and I hope that gets fixed. If they didn't dress like they're embarking on an Arctic expedition for bed it might help. We've run through 3 of 8 eps and not much has happened - hopefully it will get moving soon.
Physical Therapy reminded me of Bite Meβ¦.. this show is 2-3x better than Physical Therapy. The acting is better…
2-3x better than Physical Therapy is like saying something is 2-3x better than getting cancer. Do you mean it's bad but not as bad, or it's pretty decent but not the greatest?

Exhibit A: Dermdem's hair in Meow Ears Up.
