Yeah I mean the main issue for me was the time jump, I was really looking forward to seeing the emotional tension…
I actually stopped at that point to make sure I hadn't accidentally missed an episode. Forbidden love needs to be resolved with an explosive release. I get BL audiences like cuteness, but that needed to be raw. It's sort of like when you try to pop a balloon but instead of a exploding with a bang it just gradually deflates. But Damn did Dome look good. He's only 17 - imagine when he's 25.
Zee is quite possibly the only thing at the moment that makes this watchable. I have no idea what the point of…
That's a perfect description fanfic written by a 12-year old. I've heard the Kuea role was written for Saint, and it shows. The NatMax dynamic is too similar to the main couple - Diao is differnet than Kuea, but Zee & Max's characters are too similar - probably again because the writer's imagination about what powerful men are like is limited.
I may be in the minority, but I didn't like Ep 9. I'll be specific.
The time jump was not successful. It was confusing, and it drained all the tension out of the story. All the chemistry built up between the characters was gone. I assume because this is BL, they wanted to make everything sweet and romantic, and it doused the flames. Vee and Dome are about forbidden love, not a pleasant talk and a soft kiss. That needed to be a scene that came out of anguish and repressed longing, not that bloodless moment. I expected that event to be the absolute highlight of the series, but it was just... there. Actually it was even LOL bad, with the triple take of Dome moving in for a hug. That was the surest way to totally extinguish any emotion that scene had.
Even Dome's confession was strange, and done with a minor character between them, and strangely dispassionate. Last episode Vee almost literally suffocated because Dome was in the same room - what happened to all that angst?
The Fah/Thorn scene was downright strange - I thought I'd strayed into a David Lynch film, with the slomo and abrubt way-too-closeups. When it wasn't silly, it was dull and passionless. Setting this on a beach was a mistake - it's too soft a setting, and again, no tension.
The only thing that worked on that front was Saen & Aii - that was awesome.
On a technical level, I was disappointed, maybe for the first time. The lighting was weird and strangely poorly done. Watch the scene where Dome and Pan are talking. Where is the sunlight coming from? The sunset is behind them but the light is comng from th opposite directon, and it's way too strong for the time of day.Contrast that with the sunset at the stadium a couple of eps ago which was one of the most beautiful shots I've ever seen - it made me gasp it was so perfect. Almost none of the outdoor lighting made any sense. Nothing about this ep's shooting served the story.
It was still better than most BLs out there, but a huge disappointment from what I thought was the best BL airing. I went from nearly throwing up in sympathy stress along with Vee a couple of eps ago to thinking "when is this going to be over?" I saved this for last to end on a high note, and now I probably won't remember to watch next week's ep unless someone reminds me.
Duea's reactions resembles so much as someone who's being abused and it's making me so uncomfortable watching…
If Duea were acting like he's humoring someone easily annoyed, it might be charming, but the way it is now, Duea looks like he's afraid Yi will beat him to death. Also, Yi always looks like he wants to beat Duea to death, which doesn't help.
I completely agree with you.I didn't like that much season 1, but I watched season 2 anyway. And.. it was a total…
I pretty much liked everyone else. But when everyone kept saying Gun is the hottelst thing on campus, I kept thinking, "Can you not actually see Mark? He's right over there." I suffered through the series for the fleeting glimpses of him.
This is just OK for me. This ep was more enjoyable for me than last ep, but the characters are too unnatural for me, except maybe Diao. Zee is so f@#%ing hot that I can never object to him on my screen, especially when we get a treat like we did today, but I hope the characters are allowed to cut loose from their artificial constraints, e.g. Hia is too much like what someone who's never met an executive thinks an executive is like - it's too artificial.
I don't feel any chemistry between New nad Zee (well, I feel it one way from Zee, but I imagine it never turns off, even when he's sleeping) - but I hope it develops. It looks like a battle of wills is coming up, and that may set it sparking. I'm not feeling it from Nat and Max either, and I know THAT chemistry is there. In that case, I think it's the writing - when Diao behaves like he's terrified of physical abuse from Yi for any misttep, like talking slightly above 'very quiet' on the phone, it's not so romantic.
So I guess I'd say this meh for me with potential to ramp up to something I look forward too. I mean, it's got Zee and Perth, so it's never going to be without appeal.
I'm absolutely *loving* this series so far, I'm very entertained and I think everyone is playing their character…
I don't feel any heat at all, except what radiates from Zee naturally. I don't think this is a very good pairing. Actually, I'm a little disappointed in the Max/Nat chemistry, which is lacking in this so far too. I think in that case it's the writing - it's hard to feel the spark when Diao perpetually acts like he's afradi Yi will beat him to death. I don't think the direction has balanced this well - I think it's supposed to be mildy D/s and funny, but it feels more like Stockholm Syndrome.
But I did feel this ep was an improvement over the previous two.
I completely agree with you.I didn't like that much season 1, but I watched season 2 anyway. And.. it was a total…
Oh! You have the same opinons as me - I had to look up both those BLs because I had apparently blocked them out of my memory, but I gave them both a rating of "1" and I couldn't finish either. Nut in My Boy was a real contender with Gun in Tossara for Most Unappealing and Creepy BL Lead Character of All Time.
Season 1 of Love Area wasn't great, but I really like Pak and there's something sexy about Gun, and both seem to be competent actors. But S2 didn't develop any of the potential - and that last 3 seconds was LOL it was so stupid and bad.
I will admit that I watched the Sean/Pete scene more than once. Jeff Satur really commits - that was steamy.
Just finished EP eight. This show wasn't anything special but I enjoyed it. But if course since it's China it's…
I agree with you, although I suspect this won't be the majority opinion. The problem with these things is they don't really work. In Addicted it was different because it was clear they were already together and one guy didn't want to do anything only because he was afraid he had a contagious disease. Here they've never done anything at all so it's not pushing the line, it's crossing it. It's clearly not intended to be "you-know-what" because he was fine with it afterwards - but how do you define it? The reason is homophobia - it's unacceptable for a man to want and pursue bottoming, so he has to be forced, which is somehow less morally objectionable than a consensual sex act.
You shouldn't be disappointed in Semantic Error for sure. Especially if they follow how the manhwa has been going…
All BLs have happy endings, or they're not BLs. The only time you don't get one is if the series is canceled, like Addicted (which had reached a reasonable stopping point except for the very last scene), or this disaster which must have had something go really wrong with the production due to COVID.
It's a LGBTQ+ drama if it has a sad ending - it's totally alien to the BL genre to have one. Even when one of the characters is a dead person there's a happy ending.
Don’t you hate it when writers suddenly decide they want to get all high and mighty and go rogue on us. Just…
I really think something else was planned, COVID interrupted the production and the actors weren't available to finish it. There are so many plotlines and characters that went nowhere that it couldn't have been intentional. But this is still incompetent.
Cupid Coach was a lower-budget production than this that was halted by lockdowns - it got a minimalist competion with a major gear shift and centered entirely around the main character and a whole new character/love interest (ironically played by the Khaitoon actor), and the completion was actually quite a bit better than the original line of the story. It's not easy to jump into a series in Ep 9 and replace a memeber of the main pair and sell it, but he really did.
So something could have been salvaged from the situation, but sadly, no.
I'm not a fan of fakeouts like that - it's a cheap ploy. It annoyed me in My Ride, but at least it was just a confession and not a climactic kiss.
Khaitoon would have to be an idiot to take Valen back. The way he behaved was so disployal and showed such disrespect for Khaitoon that he can never be trusted as a partner. What happens when they have a more significant problem? Especially because he's violent and a lot bigger than Khaitoon. Too many red flags.
WAAHT?! Noway I love this series. I did not like 2Moons2(an exception to the actors that did Forth and Beam, they…
I thought both Wayos were just about the same in boringness, but Pha in 2Moons2 was transcendently boring - so boring that the boringness collapsed in on itself and created a black whole from which no intrest could escape. The 2Moons Pha didn't seem like he wanted to be there and didn't have much chemistry with Wayo, but at least the storyline was a storyline.
I thought both Tae and Pavel were sexy Forths, but Tae's characer didn't really do anything whereas Forth & Beam in S2 were hot and their story was the only thing I was interested in.
Paint had it's moments - I really liked Tae's character, which was very different, but as the story ground on it just faded into terminal 'meh' and ended with barely a whimper. I like the way Tae looks clean-cut better, but I'm starting to get tired of all the long hair going on these days. It works on some people.
Well, I'd have to agree that Wayu is the most boring character. But he's SO boring that it's become funny, whereas…
For me, the endless staring scenes would make me roll my eyes and FF - but eventually it was so bad that I started to find it funny - there's literally nothing to Wayu and Thanu's relationship but them staring blankly at each other.
Part 2 was a total disaster all the way through. My questions: 1. What was the point of Non's character? 2. What was the point of Jun's character? 3. What is Jun? Now he's a she? I'm confused. Never mind, I don't care. 4. What was the point of Ice's character? He didn't even really cause a misunderstanding between Pete & King. Was he supposed to be a puppy to cheer up King? With zero backstory, I don't understand why he was there. If they needed someone to cheer up King, couldn't they have had Non meet him and thus give his character a point? So that h could be friendzoned by King too? 5. What was the point of this entire series?
That ending - either do one or the other, but they tried to do both and it was weird and lame. Did somene drop a camera with half the footage on it the ocean or something, and so this is what they came up with? If they're planning a part 3, there's no chance in hell I'm watching it unless there's a different writer and director. And especially a diffefent editor.
Also, I know there's a gap in time between when they filmed parts of this, but Jeff Satur's implausible changes in hair seem to occur independent of this series. It was like that in Ingredients, too. I wonder if he has mutant hair. Mutant sexy hair.
