If they were related, how would that make you feel?
That would be hot.

I am annoyed by how mean they all are to that poor kid, Lu Lue lol. He's trying soooo hard to be their friend…
Well, he told him he was in love with him, that's pretty nice, isn't it?

Right? There she was fine with her son dating her dead ex! (I remember thinking at the time that people were shocked he was her ex, but we're all so BL-conditioned than nobody seemed to find it remarkable that he was dead.)

They're correct on GagaOOLala and the translation is very smooth too.
GagaOOLala is pretty good about things like that - they actually respond to input and will fix things.

in what way, if i may ask?
Oh, I know. I worked at a Korean company and it never stops. In an American company, if someone screams at you at work it's thought of as a sign of weakness or even mental illness - a lack of self-control. In a Korean company it's the normal management style, and whenever anyone attains any power they immediatly begin bullying people under them (not everyone is like that, but nobody would take particular notice of it, either).

I'm not so much conerned with unrealism - all BL is fantasy and none of it is realism - if it were, it would be LGBTQ+ drama, not BL. Like I said, I have no problem with a 500-year old vampire as a character - but I do have a problem with a 500-year old vampire going to school. Why would he? There really needs to be a good explanation.

What's important is for characters to behave realistically emotionally. I'm not seeing that here, In WYEL, the characters behaved more or less like real people and so it was relatable and I could invest in the characters. I don't agree with you that it shouldn't be on screen just because they didn't behave perfectly. That makes for very boring characters, and I nothing any of them did was as bad as Tae Sung allowing his brother to be visciously bullied for four years.

It isn't manipulative to do things in denial of your sexuality. You don't necessarily understand what you're feeling, or you belive it's really wrong and you want to stop - like an addiction. In WYEL he didn't willfully use the girl, he was trying to be "normal" and really wanted to like her. And redemption arcs for "bad boys" (or girls) is a staple trope of romance.

Forbidden love is another - if both are of age, then I don't mind if it's a student/teacher thing (obviously not in high school). Incest is a bit different, but I've never seen it in a BL outsisde of step-brothers, almost always people thrown together by their parents marrying as the show starts, and again, this is a standard trope of romance. I still don't think that's as bad as allowing your brother to be bullied, or concealing your relationship which makes him feel you're ashamed of him, although to be fair step-siblings isn't really considered incest in my culture - not like biological siblings.

And how is this any differerent than step-brothers? They were raised from the age of 6 in the same home by the same mother - they're effectively brothers.

I realize that it's inevitable that popular webtoons will be adapted, and repetetive fluffy storylines is what the target audience wants - but the audience wants what they know, but they're more than capable of liking something different if they're given the option. One of the most popular BLs right now is really different (Not Me), and I think people like it largely because of that.

In the case of this show, I'm not the target audience (I'm a non-teen male), and in this case it doesnt' offer anything I'm interested in, whereas WYEL and Semantic Error do. The plot dosn't interest me, nor do either of the main characters. If I watch what I like and skip what I don't, then it's more likely that people will make what I like (I don't mean my viewership has any impact at all - it doesn't - "I" meaning the audience I'm part of.)

I've watcched up to Ep 4, and so far Fame hasn't had to do much so he's been fine, but he doesn't stand out to me as much as Fluke.

I think because Tawan is alredy in relationship they were delay the kiss so it doesn't seem like he's starting with someone immediately after someone else, but then he never did anything with Por.

Blowing into someone's eyeball is easily the most efficient way to make them sick. Especially with your immune system deeply compromised by lack of sleep. Tsk.

The coffee guy is so f@#$ing hot I can't stand it. And such a gentleman. I hope she doesn't get all classist on him. But it looks like it will be the reverse.

This is so much better than I was expecting. Did you notice how artful the fear of heights was filmed? That's great cinematography and directing. I like that Tawan is bigger and taller than Mork - it's nice to see that cliche violated. And Boss is superior to Toy in position - that's really rare too.

I was really surprised by the last line of Ep 4 - I expected that in ep 7 or 8. Another defiance of convention. There's a lot about this that sets it apart from the usual BL formula, but that's done within the context of a well-written and coherent story with good acting. I can't ask for much more. But wait, there's more! The humor is actually funny, and the gay uncles is a very unique touch.

Mork's personality has an air of Tae Darvid as Phap in Paint With Love. Such a cutie. The way he looks at Tawan is perfect - obviously smitten, but not OTT and appropriately confused. And I love how his uncles aren't confused at all - they see what's going on very clearly. It's cute how they fight constantly but can have complex non-verbal communication because they know each other so well.

Is it even worth watching?
I would say yes. It's not the same old thing. There's the usual seme who thinks he's straight, but he lives with his gay uncles, who fight constantly and one is alcoholic, and the uke is a gay doctor. The doctor is cute, but the motorcycle driver has lethal dimples - his smile hurts.

I agree - also, the characters are more original than usual. Jae Young has a vibe like Gu Hai from Addicted or Hao Ting from Make Our Days Count, but Sang Woo is fairly unique. And I don't love the whole seme-uke thing, but the size imbalance between them is so huge that it's cute.

I'm watching too many, I must admit. The other three that I think are good are Not Me, Kei x Yaku (this one is dark and violent) and You're My Sky. Those are the only ones that I'd be comfortable recommeding.

SIMR is not as good with the cut version - I don't know why they did it that way because the full version is almost 50% longer and makes much more sense.

New theory-I don't know why I don't think it was an "accident" but maybe Phob committed suicide. Ben told us Phob's…
I don't think he committed suicide because Ben said he died in a traffic accident. My theory is both Phob and his mother died in the accident and it was his father's fault.

Luck's role has been cut quite a bit in the public version. He's in the full version more, but it's not clear what his purpose is there either. It's clearer that he's Dream's boyfriend in the full version. Maybe his role is to be Phat's new boyfriend after Phob leaves. I'm fine with that, 'cause he hot.

The House Spirit isn't the LLs father - that was an honorific, kind of like an American might call a respected older man "pops" 50 years ago.

in what way, if i may ask?
I'm totally fine with production issues limited by budget - but being able to choose a good story shouldn't be expensive. Sometimes you have to consider if something will translate well to live action. For example, the bully in the source material is a cartoon, and he just doesn't come across as awful in the same exhauting way as a live human does. The actor did a fantastic job, but is that the kind of character that's fun to watch in a romcom? Is a longer and more in-depth story something you should try to adapt to a rather short format?

As for Korean BL, one of the very first BLs they produced, Where Your Eyes Linger, remains the best by a decent margin (although Semantic Error is challenging it), and one of the better BLs ever made - so it can be done on a low budget.

In the end, the decision made here that I think maybe is the problem is that an entirely conventional, formulaic story was chosen with all the same stock features of BLs crammed into one story. WYIL was an original setup, and Semantic Error has two characters who are unusual and don't fit into their formulaic roles.

I agree about supporting the BL industry, but endless repetition can burn out a genre, so is it better to support good BLs and not mediocre ones, or should we support them indiscriminately? I'm starting to run out of time to watch them all, and I really only returned to this one because it's Thursday and it's the only one on today (in my time zone).

I didn't feel like this dragged at all, but are you watching the cut or the full version? I'm going to go scan…
I don't think she's evil - if she were the house spirit wouldn't accept her, and she's never done anything to harm anyone, and in fact has helped out. Something bad has happened to her too, I think, or she didn't something she feels she needs to atone for - or there's something she needs to avenge.
