Is there any reason why people need to take it personally if someone doesn't like the same things they do? There's no crusade - it's simply that I can usually tell why people like something even if I don't - here I can't at all, so I asked. Maybe I'm missing something and someone can change my perspective.

Yes, obviously. People exaggerate for stylistic flourish. The point is that these actors are much older than high school students and it's obvious.

They seem stuck somewhere between taking themselves seriously and having fun with tropes - but it's not OTT enough, so it just feels like a checkist of tropes. trip/fall/catch? Check. Authomatic vomiting and memory loss from having a drink? Check. Etc.

That photo made me laugh so hard. There was a Vietnamese series where the actor's first scene was in brownface, and then someone gave him the whitening cream that was sponsoring the series, and after that he was his normal pale color. That would result in whole cities being burned if anyone did that in the USA, so I could only stare with my mouth hanging open.

Can someone explain to me WHY they like this? I'm not being sarcastic, I'm genuinely curious, because this is the most boring BL I've watched so far. It's about guys in their mid to late 20s half-heartedly (except Da On, who is giving it his all) pretending to be high schools students who just spent an entire episode talking about cleaning a room.

There's no chemistry between the leads, and one of them is childish an unpleasant. The other is likeable but really dull. The plot makes no sense - why is everyone in the school (except one person) so keen to befriend the new guy, including the most popular boy, who wants to be his best friend after knowing him for one day?

This is the highest rated BL on MDL. It doesn't seem possible. Better than ITSAY or Where Your Eyes Linger?

If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say it's that there is nothing whatsoever interesting about the story (this entire episode was about cleaning a room), the plot makes no sense (why do all these people care so much about the new guy? The most popular boy in school wants to be his best friend?), there is zero chemistry between the main pair, or any chemistry between any characters, and the cast is obviously not really into it, but then who in their late 20s would be interested in acting in a series about mopping floors and dumping out the recycling at a high school?

I'm actually here taking a break with give minutes to go because I was falling into a coma. There are going to be a lot of people pissed off who watch this because it has an 8.9 rating, quite a bit higher than ITSAY...

Well, they're trying. I can give them that. There's a but of overacting they can dial back, and the editing could be a bit sharper. They did avoid tropes and cliches, so I did appreciate that quite a bit.

It's not an important point, but I do appreciate that Filipino BL characters dress for sleep like normal human beings intead of Victorian-era British aristocrats.

I was enjoying the epsisode until the stupid accidental kiss ruined it. I could barely pay attention it took me out of the story so much. The last scene was a partial redemption. I'm a bit done with the pacing at this point. It's been fine, but that was Ep 8, and I'm sure much of the rest will be consumed with external drama, although I'm thankful that it appears it will be caused by another man rathrer than the usual villainous ex-girlfriend who drops out of the sky.

Hmm. I sort of agree, but to me this is boring-stupid. And while the plot can be silly, people still need to behave like people - even stupid people, and consistent, even if consistently stupid. Plus the silly tropes thrown in for no particular reason. A Man Who Defied the World of BL was obviously silly, but so intelligently written, and uses tropes in a hillarious way. Or the current Ossan's Love - whacky but well-written and acted. Minus 10 creativity points because it's a remake, but good remake is still better than a bad bag of tropes there due to a total lack of creativity.

This series might have worked better if it had been written as a comedy instead of a drama.

Actually, I looked into it and now I feel really bad. This production company isn't just working on a shoestring, it's more like hanging off a cliff by a fraying thread. Please accept my apologies for speaking to you that way, and I'm going to contribute to them as pennace and to support their efforts.

He's awful. I thought he's at least be funny after his performance as Techno, but he's well-rounded in his awfulness. Boat is fantastic, but it's not enough. Bad lead plus terrible writing makes this close to unwatchable. I say close because Boat shirtless. Or shirted. Just Boat.

For me it took about 10 minutes of blank black screen before it loaded - that's been the case for me lately with everything.

If it continues to be this terrible I don't know if I can make myself watch it even for Boat, whose acting continues to to amaze me, not to mention what he looks like.

Gun is downright bad - I'm kind fo surprised because I liked him in a comedic role, but he doesn't have enough ability for a serious role.

Also, a law needs to be passed banning anyone who's never been drunk from writing drunk scenes. That was so ridiculous it wasn't even entertaining.

The writing is awful. Nobody behaves like a normal human being. Nobody even behaves like an abnormal human being. It is impossible to solve a Rubik's cube without looking at it, unless all the squares are marked with something like Braille. You could if you were the one who messed it up, but not when someone else did. That was lame. The villain is a cartoon - if he's had a mustache he would have twirled it. No grown man has ever reached across the table to spoon feed another man that he barely knows - you don't even do that with a boyfriend. It's just weird an out of character unless you're 5. It doesn't even make sense that the villain is trying to kill Sky. Why? All that will do is ignite a war with someone more powerful than he is who won't stop until he's dead.

This show can't pass up a tired cliche or trope. Piggyback ride? Check. Moist towel wipedown? Check. Faces too close together and staring? Check.

The problem is that if they're going to do a story like this, they need to go a lot more OTT. This is just limp and awful.

People really hate this series, but I don't think it's THAT bad. It's certainly more watchable than TharnType2...

The main problem so far is the story. It really needed to address what a horrible thing they did to Bank - why, what are the conequences & accountability, how can Bank get past it. It feels a little like string of scenes stapled together rather than a story.

I've never thought Fluke Natouch was THAT amazing - being able to turn on the waterworks at will is not the same thing as great acting. He's solid, and in this case having to work with not-so-great a script.

I think maybe I don't hate it as much because I saw the original a long time ago, so I don't really care what happens to Bank & Golf.

But Nuea & Tar - that is fire. I knew Mon was a fantastic actor, but Kim was great too - that's some chemistry there. They should have just made a series about them - it's 100 times more compelling than the main pair's story. But I can see why it would annoy people who were here for Bank & Golf, or Fluke - they're hardly in this so far.

And with skin that puts porcelain to shame. The next time you call people in their mid to late 20s "old guys", I'll slap you. (I won't.) It's a good thing the teachers dress differently or there would be no way to tell the difference between them and the students.

I'm hoping in future episodes his behavior is character-driven rather than whatever the immediate need of the plot is - I'm giving them leeway because this is the premiere. But you can see below that everyone thinks he's neurodivergent, which I don't think is supportable based on what we've seen, and that's not an encouraging sign for the quality of the writing.

I just rewatched it imagining him as neurodivergent, thinking everyone else can't be wrong - but I think everyone else is wrong. It's possible that he's intended to be neurodivergent, but I honestly don't think the author knows enough about the subject to write the character.

Think about the cafeteria scene where he anticipates where the teacher is going with his story, or his awareness that dildo boy was being menacing in the hallway, his disappointment when that boy took the chair next to him, or his general perception of people's motivations. I did notice that Lee Sae On's acting is really good - the subtlety of the disappointment over the chair was really excellent.

I don't think it's really important whether or not he is ND if he's an interesting and consistent character. That's my objection - he's neither. But I realize this is just the first episode, so I'm going to be patient and give it a chance - I've been totally wrong before and ended up enjoying something I thought I would dislike.

Everyone seems to think he's supposed to be neurodivergent, which I don't see - I'll give it a chance, but so far it seems dull and formulaic - I hope I'm wrong.
