I agree - except about the romance. It was definitely a romance.
Got it, and I agree. I was surprised that there were so many people that didn't see the romantic connection between them.

I thought maybe it's because neither of them tripped and was caught by the other upon which they stared at each other with their faces awkwardly close together until they turned gay.

I see your point about the slowness - I noticed the same thing negatively in the other couples. What makes it…
I just don't understand why anyone would go see a film in that theater.

You felt SYMPATHY for Kaeng at the dinner? I wanted him dead. That was the most excuciating scene I've ever watched in a BL - it took be hours to get through it. His behavior was totally unforgivable, which is maybe one reason why I felt nothing for this couple - he was so petty, spiteful and horrible. I'm genuinely interested to hear how you could possible find that behavior sympathetic. To me that was a clear indicator of malignant narcissism or even sociopathy.

Wow, you've really put a lot of thought into this. I almost replied to aquadrone22 by accident because the reply button is so far away now.

I think you're finding motivations that a creative mind (that should be writing BLs) can insert, but I doubt any of that was intended by the writers of this series, who are just bad.

While what you say makes sense, I think the part about the teacher is a stretch - that was unambiguously presented as a sincere and rather strong interest, with all the standard BL cues, and if Puth was having the inner feelings you describe, we got absolutely zero indication of it - as far as we saw it was an unmotivated and sudden change of heart. So even if they intended his feelings to be your version, the execution was terrible.

I suppose that's the nature of art (although that's a really strong word to use in this case) - people get different things from it. I didn't buy the chemistry of this couple, and other people couldn't even detect the chemistry in Country Boy.

Idk about that. I felt real chemistry. I bet we could get a part two where two reunite in a full blown romance.…
I'm glad to be of service!

Same reaction here. I was OK until the "I'm not gay, I only like you" thing. It's the only trope more tired than…
It was the secondary couple at around 1:15. The wording is a "variation on a theme". In any case, this looks like a checklist of tropes and my only interest in it is the bodyguard guy is f@#$ing smoking hot. I'm shallow.

Piggyback carry? Check.
Faces get too close & stare forever? Check.
University students? Check.
I'm guessing at least one main character is an engineer, but I can't check the box without evidence.

Predictions:

- Someone will display a fear of ghosts.
- There will be a loud trans or effeminate gay character who paws and screeches over boys.
- There will be a fujohsi who makes annoying squealing noises.
- There will be an implausble communications failure
- Someone will be dabbed with a damp towel to cure whatever is wrong with them (bonus if it's a fever caused by being rained on)
- All the characters are rich.
- Someone will throw up from drinking and likely have total memory wipe.

None of these will sound unlikely to you.

I will say that I was impressed that a character had a hard-on for another one. Blatant displays of sexuality are usually not allowed.

This is just a Bromance not BL. Nevertheless the story is simple but sweet. I wish there will be season 2. Mon…
I disagree - I think it was unambiguously BL. But I totally agree with 2. He's... ugh, I can't stand it. In 5 years I'll need defibrillation whenever he appears onscreen.

Totally agree - the undertone was more like undertow before a big wave hits. I really don't know how anyone could watch the swing scene and miss it. Is BL starting to condition us to need someone to act like a porn character for us to see it as "romance"? It's all about subtle touches, glances, and body language - too many BL characters come on like a bulldozer. I don't mind if it ends up in raunchy sex, but it has to start right, and this started right.

To everyone saying this is not a BL, what? That was the most romantic and beautiful BL I've seen... maybe ever?…
I'm wondering if people are not understanding the subtitles - I thought they were good, but I'm a native speaker.

But even then, I don't know how anyone could watch the swing scene and not see the body language, how close they were sitting, the way they were looking at each other, the way Keptawan did the "reach around" move you usually do in movie theaters, and asking for a hug.

And the sign - remember, the sign banned romance between staff and guests - his mother took it down as tacit blessing for Keptawan and Nabdao, and when Kep gave his phone number to Nab, Nab said "what about the rule?" meaning, "aren't you banned from romancing me?"

To everyone saying this is not a BL, what? That was the most romantic and beautiful BL I've seen... maybe ever? That was 100% pure, grade A BL. I just spent 30 minutes crying non-stop.

It was so natural and real - it was definitely just a beginning, but it was also definitely love.

Explanation below marked for spoilers.

The acting in this was universally good - so natural. And can we talk about how beautiful Mon has become? He's only 20 and not even at his peak yet. Oak is probably never going to be beautiful, but he was so cute in this it just... made my heart smile. I don't know how else to put it.

I'm trying to figure out why everyone liked Puth & Kaeng so much - I found them excruciating to watch. The best…
I get what your saying. But to me Kaeng came on so strong it was obnoxious and desperate, and Puth's motivations made no sense to me.

With Sat & Choke, Sat had memories of the gap between 11 & 18, so I just chose to think of him as an 18 year old with amnesia, otherwise, eww. They should have taken it in that direction because, well, eww.

Interesting. To me it comes off as choreographed and insincere. I like feline moments - but cats play with their food before they eat it. Nobody here ever eats it, they just circle endlessly. Very, very slowly. I thought Kaeng was almost pulling it off in the first ep of the two-parter, but it can't always be like that or it's just a directorial affectation - and Kaeng always looks insecure and desperate to me. As far as the eyes go, it's still one-way for me (I think Kaeng is a noticeably stronger actor and his character makes sense).

Maybe it's partly because Puth makes no sense to me - one minute he was in love with the teacher, then suddenly he wasn't. If he was in love with Kaeng AND sleeping with him, then why not just be with him? He obviously has no fear of commitment.

Usually even if I don't care for a couple, I can still see why everyone else likes them. But here I'm at a loss. Kaeng's flirting is as subtle as the pizza delivery man in a gay porn film (although that's a problem througout this series - Nuea was even worse), so it came off as desperate and icky, Puth's emotional motivations never made sense, and I don't really feel organic chemistry - it's just situational. To me, chemistry is Sat & Choke - that was fire. Too bad the second half of their story was so flat.

Writing that makes sense? The tantasy elements are fine, but the emotions have to make sense. Like why was Puth…
You knew there is something missing, which is the important thing, you're just not as pathetic as me wasting time analyzing something I don't like, lol.

Did anyone watch the Kaeng/Puth special episode? Can someone PLEASE explain WHY you like this couple? The whole thing is both of them moving incredibly slowly and acting like they're 12. I see zero heat and passion - I just don't get it. They're almost naked in a sauna and not even touching except for childish pecks on the nose. What is with the moving slowly? It's not just them - everyone in Y Destiny.

We have 20 year old men who behave like 12 year olds and move like 80 year olds. It's weird, and the slowness drains all the energy out of the interaction. The special ep was only 10 minutes long and I was too bored to finish it.

I'm trying to figure out why everyone liked Puth & Kaeng so much - I found them excruciating to watch. The best thing to do is start a story - if you're not into it the first time a couple is in the same scene, drop, because it won't get any better. If anything annoys you, it will escalate until you want them dead.

Writing that makes sense?

The tantasy elements are fine, but the emotions have to make sense. Like why was Puth so in love with that teacher guy one minute, then totally indifferent to him five minutes later? What did he see in Kaeng, who was a desperate stalker who thinks acting like a porn character is sexy? If he liked Kaeng, then why not just date him since they were having sex anyway?
