Oh, I love Cherry Magic - I enjoy watching it as much as GSP. I think GSP has more depth and the production quality is higher, but I think Cherry Magic is the best BL comedy I've ever seen. The Japanese have a way with quirkiness that nobody else can really match. Like in Life Love on the Line where the boys meet because they're walking along a line painted on the street and pretend they'll die if they fall off. That was so cute - who hasn't done something like that when they were children?

It sounds like you're saying the ends justify the means. Wil has stolen things out of Joey's room, bribed a teacher, ordered a henchman to ruin Joey's career - the income from which Joey needs, then he blackmailed Jimmy into keeping it secret... how is that love? How is that pure intentions? Wil is supposed to be the villain of the story. Look at his expressions when Joey isn't looking at him - it's malice. Trying to make someone dependent on you is what sociopaths do. They can be charming - but they can't love - they want control.

You have got to be kidding me. Who is working for whom? Amore is one of the worst BLs on air - they've had no fewer than 39 of 90 episodes so far and what has happened? Almost nothing. Jimmy and Nuan are good actors, but the rest are average at best, and a few are cringeworthy. If they'd used the budget for the 90 episodes to write a good story with 12 episodes, then they could have given us something to watch. As it is, when Joey is talking to Wil, I'm never sure if it isn't actually Planty. I don't understand why it annoys you so much that I love GSP, but I'm not alone, which is why it has a 9.1 rating vs. 7.3 for your Amore dumpster fire.

I'm not sure what was going on because the subtitles made it unclear, but it looked like Sea meant "Are you sure you want to be my friend? Wouldn't you rather be my boyfriend?" And Tin either understood what he meant and chose not to answer, or it went right over his head.

Is that about right?

Amore is bad. Sorry, but 90 episodes is too long for me, especially as the plot is almost non-existent. There are a couple of great actors in it, but the writing... I'm surprised more people don't watch Gaya sa Pelikula, which is incredible.

You haven't seen Gaya sa Pelikula? I think that might jump up to Cherry Magic in your rating. I actually have it higher in mine.

I'm sorry, but the ladyboy joke characters are so offensive and transphobic that I can't continue to watch this show. It's horrifying, not to mention totally unfunny and just cringeworthy. The acting isn't embarassing, but Caloy only has one facial expression and John's character is so poorly drawn that I don't really know who he is nor do I care. If Caloy wasn't so incredibly good-looking I don't think I would have even made it to Ep 2.

Yes, that's the main part of his appeal, but the body doesn't hurt. He's also very handsome, although they give him Korean boy bangs in this so he trends cute more than handsome.

The Big Mama actress was incredible - it was an understated performance but so powerful. That shows you what a skilled actor can do even with a role with hardly any lines or expression.

Starting with the beach trip, I think in Ep 5, you get to see a lot more of Kao, and the boy is just hot. There's a pool party with him in a wet t-shirt that's just...

Gaya sa Pelikula - maybe the best BL of all time. Also, Hello Stranger and Gameboys. The Philippines is taking over BL - they write screenplays intended for visua media instead of adapting bad novels.

Oh. Well then in that case it's bad. I think there's a bit of a moral "pass" in this cirumstsance because of the reincarnation thing plus there was no sex, and as you pointed out, it wasn't even sexualized. But for two "normal" people, it would be disturbing.

I can believe that. The actor is cute and charming when he's not playing Solo, so he could probably give us more than we're getting if he were directed.

I see where you're coming from, and I agree that the pace needs to pick up - the is too much repetition and there are scenes that are too long. But in general I enjoy this series more than any other Thai BL I can think of that's come out recently. They also need to start spelling the name It as "Itt" because it makes the subtitles very confusing. His character needs to go somewhere soon because it's becoming unpleasant, and the actor is fairly talented so it's a shame to waste him. His evil villain music is starting to become comical, especially given his superpower to teleport anywhere in Thailand to cock-block Tin with passive-aggression.

Never mind - I found Ep 9 - it WAS a lot better. Pai is still horrendously boring, but Pure is so hot and Folk is normal with him instead of a creepy stalker. Poor Waan - he doesn't know how cute he is.

Are you ahead of me by an episode? The last one I saw was Ep 8, which was so boring I had to take breaks and I can't even remember anything about it - and I just finished watching it. There were photos taken and some tired BL tropes, I think. But the latter isn't exactly a tough thing to guess about this derivative mess.

When this was being written, was the author thinking, "how can I write the most boring story possible? Can I make this entirely pointless and derivative and will people still watch it?" If it weren't on Mondays when there's nothing else on there's no chance I would stick with this - as it is I FF through everything Pai is in. What did they do to Win to make him so dull? He's usually edgy and sexy, but he's terrible in this.
