Ok finished watching the first episode. For some reason I'm not feeling it so far. Loved the first season so I…
Tharn was acting like a sexual predator, not a bf. And Type was acting like a stereotypical bitchy housewife. Nobody in this seems like they want to be there - the level of energy is so low I couldn't stay awake. Not promising. There are too many BLs out to watch all of them, and with shows like GSP and ITSAY out, this just hasn't justified it's existence. Thai BL is stuck in a rut. To me the only series playing that isn't a tired rehash of tropes is ITSAY, and maybe Friends Forever, where one of the main pair is actually effiminate, which is mind-blowing after all these years of obviously straight actors looking uncomfortable.

lolllllll this is the reason why i don't want to watch the new season. i'm sure nothing comes out of mame will…
So they intentionally made the first epsode crappy so that we could expect that the rest will be much better? Isn't it usually advisable to have the first episode hook the audience instead of making them roll their eyes and/or fall asleep? The only thing that kept me conscious was wondering how on earth nobody noticed how obvious it is that they were both caked in makeup.

IKR
The complaints about this episode are overwhelmingly about the poor quality of the production (sound, makeup, etc.) and the poor writing of the script, with it's clunky dialog, bad characterization, and pointlessness. You'll note there's not a lot of comment about how hot the shower scene was, because it wasn't, at all. It was just a rip-off of the Titinic love scene in the car and they had so much makeup on it descended into ridiculousness.

There just isn't anything here that justifies a sequel to a story already told.

I'm getting really sick of the condescending attitude about people who think gay men in relationships should have a phyisical aspect to that relationship. It isn't enough to verbally say "I'm your bf now" - we need to be shown, not told - this is a visual medium - whe can't read what characters are thinking and feeling, and if you have to read a novel to understand what you're watching, the series is a fauilure. . It doesn't have to be sex, but it can't be a kiss where they just have their lips touching while romantic music plays and it's clear the actors are being held at gunpoint to do even that.

Same. I've heard lots of explanations about how it's cute and fine in Thai culture but it still leaves a bad taste…
I agree with you. Tharn said it so many times it was getting annoying. If he'd done it strategically to annoy/tease Type, it might have been cute. I've said elsewhere there was nothing in this episode that justifies continuing this story.

I actually groaned at the title of My Gear & Your Gown. Almost every Filipino BL is something fresh and new (the ones of any quality, at least) - while almost every Thai BL is a tired rehash of formulaic heteronormative and even heterosexist tropes.

It's time to abandon fanfic-quality novels as the sources of these series and instead have them written as scripts for a visual medium. When was the last time you saw a visual metaphor or symbol in a Thai BL? Japanese BL contain tropes, but there's a creativity and quirkiness to them that's charming and funny - and they're based on Manga, which is a visual medium and translates better onto the screen.

Title Boyband Love
Episode 6 was definitely an improvement from the previous episode. The plot/storyline progressed on this episode.…
I didn't see any improvement. The production values are still terrible. During the conversation between Aiden & their manager at the end of Part 1, it looked like it was shot by someone with Parkinson's. And I couldn't watch the boyband performance scene - I thought that the reason the acting is so bad was because they cast singer/dancers for the roles. Nope. And I know it was supposed to be bad - but dancer bad, not drunk frat boy bad. Aiden's big scene was blurry and the acting was seriously cringeworthy. TBH, I watch this because it's such a disaster that it's almost amusing. Plus I ran out of other BLs to watch.
On Calculating Love Nov 8, 2020
Oh dear. Well, this show dived off a cliff. The beginning was promising, but now it's just stretching what should be a short episode into a very, very long one. And here we go again with the jealousy caused by a girl. Just in case anyone has missed it, the B in BL stands for "Boy". Why can't a boy be the source of jealousy? It's actually homophobic. Tan has made it clear that he wants to be with Sine - he hasn't just hinted at it, he's in serious pursuit. But the moment Tan has a conversation with a girl, Sine automatically assumes he's into the girl - so the "rules" of this game are that straight relationships are superior and more serious, hence the boy has to step away. It's also intensely boring.

Title Oxygen
In my opinion, its not just because of having no 18+ scenes. In case of Oxygen, it has a lot to do with their…
Nobody is arguing that there should be 18+ scenes. But it certainly is fair to compare rookie actors to experienced ones. The producers should not be placing amateurs in lead roles, because they can't carry them. Or at least they should make sure the amateurs can actually act.

You mentioned SOTUS - Singto & Krist are experienced actors NOW, but they were both rookies when that was produced. Why did that series work and this one doesn't? Because it was well-written and competently acted. This show is a plotless mess with bad acting.

Whenever anyone complains about thinking a BL is boring, the defenders always leap to "it doesn't need sex to be good, blah, blah, blah." Yes, that's true, and I'll bet 99.5% of the people here would agree. What we're complaining about is not lack of sex, it's that it's boring as f#$%. If Solo and Gui were to be brutally murdered, I probably wouldn't even notice because I can't stay awake through their scenes. But at least they would finally have done something interesting.

I'm not hearing anyone complaining about either. I'm hearing people complain about bad acting and writing leading to the series being intensely boring.

It´s sad that so many people call it boring, because it´s actually a good bl. But they always expect 18+ stuff,…
Why does everyone assume everyone who finds a BL boring is looking for sex? I couldn't care less if there's sex or not. I want a plot that moves, interesting characters, and good acting. There is none of that here except in the PhuKao storyline.

And while we're at it, what's wrong if there's physical love? If it fits the story, it should be there. if it doesn't it shouldn't be. It's that simple. TharnType would have made no sense without sex, and Oxygen doesn't need it at all. But it does need something interesting to happen, and we're not getting that.

i find it really slow and boring... makes me waht to fast forward but i’m also afraid of missing something.…
You can safely ff through all of it and just watch the PhuKao scenes, which, as usual, are the only thing worth watching. Their story advances quite a bit, and nothing else happens.

I know in advance that the scenario will be empty but please give us at least something of quality for the production.…
What was the problem with the sound? I wasn't listening to it on headphones, so maybe it's optimized for speakers? But the makeup was terrible. It completely took me out of the story. I mean you could even see it plainly when they were in the shower! I think Mew and Gulf are just phoning it in, but then I wouldn't be able to drum up much enthusiasm for that script if I were them either. The production was meh.

I don't think that's true - I think most of the complaining is that the ep was really boring. Whatever anyone's issues with the first series, you definitely can't call it boring.

Okay, I've watched the whole thing now...and the pacing is soooo slow! I kept skipping ahead throughout the ep.
True - nothing really happened. I didn't skip ahead, but I slept through a few parts. There's nothing in this ep that tells us their story needed to be continued.

I'm only on part 2/4 but I am already so DONE the "Wifey"-thing. Can BLs just stop that heteronormative bs? *sigh*
It's not really heteronormative when you're using a non-matching gender term. Gay men often call each other "she" - that's not heteronormative, it's actually breaking the "rules" of heteronormativity. If Type were taking on sterotypical female roles, I would have an issue with this, but he's not - in fact he's more aggressive and "male" in his attitudes than Tharn - he's a sports doctor as opposed to a musician, he likely earns considerably more, etc.

TBH, almost nothing in Thai BL are true to actual gay life - female writers have a different perspective and they are aiming at a female audience.

Please don't say that. Fate might hear you. It can always be worse. I'm not sure how, but it could be. I wasn't really feeling the chemistry. It felt like Type wasn't sexually interested in Tharn, and then they reenacted the car scene from Titanic in the shower.

The shirt made me roll my eyes. Would anyone actually wear that? maybe I'm just old. I liked his hair, though.
That was not good. It wasn't actively terrible, but I had trouble keeping awake. There is no point to this, and I don't care at all who Fiat is because we were given no reason to care.

The clothing is awful - is that what's fashionable in Thailand? Tharn's green shirt at the end was comically silly. And they had on way, way too much makeup - it was distracting.

Very disappointed.
