I can't watch a scene where an uke is using a knife - seriously, I have such PTSD from their 99% cut finger rate that I have to skip the scene and hope I can figure out what's going on afterwards.

There are a lot of comments about the rating. To see how people are really voting, click on the bar graph symbol next to the rating and it shows you the vote by age category. It this weren't subjected to some weird algorithm the rating would be an 8.4, which is reasonable. 7.6 is absurd. I'm sure it will rise.

OMG. That would be too much hotness.

There are only a few BLs that had any equality like that. My School President, 21 Days Theory, Gaya Sa Pelikula, and Cupid Coach, which was not great but did a lot of different things (like people talked about things). Where Your Eyes Linger was close, although it still had an uke who needed to be rescued, Bad Buddy was also close (the uke topped once), and maybe a couple of the HIStory series like Trapped and Crossing the Line where it didn't come up. Otherwise, the roles are strictly defined.

He's stupid. Or at least dull-witted. Everyone in the series has such low energy, physically and mentally, that it's hard to tell who's stupid and who's bored. If the story bores us, imagine how the poor actors must feel, having to do every scene several times!

There isn't an uke and a seme in real life - that's just a BL thing. It's usual for people to prefer one or the other, but most do both, and for some it's about equal. Or it can depend on who you're with. Some guys bring out the bottom in you, some guys you just want to top. But you can't tell just by looking at them or even in conversation (unless you're talking about that specifically). I've mentioned before I dated a violinist who was younger and shorter than me and was terrified of moths (and just about everything else), but was an exclusive top (although it might be because he had zero pain tolerance). Another bf was a PE major who was 188 cm (6'2") of solid muscle, but he was a huge bottom. (Very handsome too, but about as smart as a box of hair. Godlike looks alone only works for about 2 weeks and then you're over it.)

Anyway, sometimes you discuss it, but in my experience it just sort of works out, or it doesn't. You don't always have to go "all the way" - there are plenty of other things to do together (sexually).

It's certainly not his fashion sense making him shine. You'd think being an idol he'd dress a little more adventurously than my grandfather.

I think it might be because BL writers treat semes and ukes as totally different genders. The uke is in the standard (Victorian-era) female role, and so he's pursued, because a seme would have no interest in another seme. Unless he's a semesexual. So they all pursue the uke, no matter how bland, useless, weak, and unappealing he is. Likewise, an uke would never think of going after another uke. Well, even if he wanted to, nothing would ever happen, because ukes have no agency.

If this were set in the 1980s or something, I could understand, but they all have smartphones. "She's my fiancee, but it's a fake relationship and I'm gay and super into you." That's all it takes - one text, misunderstanding cleared up.

Also, most of the dialog is people talking to themselves, which is boring AF and also horrible screenwriting.

I have the exact same thought. Maybe I can see it for Hyun Jae, who is also bland, but the other two are some of the most beautiful men I've ever seen, and both have charismatic personalities, too. Lee Jun isn't ugly or anything, but he's just blandly cute.

This is not aimed at this show in particular, but I think BL writers drastically overestimate how important a kiss on the cheek is to a guy. That's the last thing they want kissed. The top ten spots are all much lower.

"While I was a away, many bees flocked to him." That's a bad case of mixing metaphors. Bees don't "flock", only birds do. Bees swarm. But that's not important. What is annoying is people who talk to themselves constantly because whoever wrote the screenplay didn't have the imagination to impart something visually instead of their manga thought balloons being spoken aloud, which is bad. Almost everything in this episode was people talking to themselves. That has zero dramatic impact and really weighs down what is supposed to be a visual medium. Let the actors tell us with their acting what they're feeling, not literally tell us.

This episode was way too dependent on a completely ridiculous misunderstanding. I'm sorry, but there's no way it wouldn't occur to Big Jun that someone is not going to be keen on being asked to be your boyfriend when he just found out you have a fiancee. He was suprised at being rejected - he should be surprised Little Jun didn't kick him in the balls.

Speaking of whom, I just don't think the actor has enough charisma to play the role, It's hard to fathom why two absolutely stunning men would be interested in him - he's so bland, not just in his presentation but in his personality too. What exactly is his character? He's suffering from author-inserting-herself-into-the-story-as-the-uke-itis.

Honestly the show isn't horrible for me personally, i've been fairly entertained with it but with only 3 episodes…
Because BL writers are absolutely addicted to two things that have to be in every BL: a really stupid, implausible, and easily cleared up misunderstanding caused by either a completely absurdly vague and misleading statement (like in this case), or someone showing up many km away from where they would be for any reason at just the precise second to see or hear something they misunderstand (and then drop whatever they're holding to be found by the other person). The second thing BL writers can't live without is a woman being in the way.

I feel like BL writers must all go somewhere to be lobotomized so whatever part of the brain that controls creativity and originality is removed and they can only write the same thing over and over.

That probably sounded harsh, but this episode managed to do both, and required Big Jun to be so incomprehensibly stupid that you have to wonder how he manages to tie his shoes.

So nobody's going to say it? The most ridiculous thing in this episode? There is no way any gay man is going on an indefinite vacation with THAT tiny a suitcase. Maybe if he were German.

And now an uke can't even pour coffee without injury. How did any of them survive childhood?

If my boyfriend bought me McDonald's for breakfast I'd assume he hated me and wanted me to die. He better not be driving into town the next morning to bring him more of that artery-hardening dreck.

Credit to Pak for standing still on the balcony while he was being devoured by insects. I hope they were able to do that in a single take.

Anyway, that was tedious. It's just not a lot of fun to watch people moping for an hour, especially over something incredibly stupid that could have been cleared up with a text. If Sunny hadn't been shirtless through the first scene I'd be irritated that I spent the time on it.

Although I have to give credit for people being naked in the morning after having sex instead of fully-dressed, and additional credit for a seme openly identifying as gay.

Yes, but BL aren't hetero stories. Why not have an evil ex-BF? The incessant use of the same plot device is symptomatic of a serious lack of imagination, creativity, and competence. Only mediocre writers imitate everyone else.

Alcohol is one of the only plot drivers BL can think of to use, other than people tripping and being caught. While of course we've all had occassions where we've had more to drink, it's not every day and not the engine that drives everything that happens in our lives.

As for the evil girlfriend trope, what you said makes sense, but it doesn't explain why it's so overused. Especially this one, which nobody likes or wants.

This episode didn't do it for me. I was excited about Ep 2, but for something this short, to spend so much time on a least welcome of unwelcome BL tropes, the evil girlfriend, is just not OK. Is anyone watching BL because they just can't get enough of evil girls? I don't understand why BL writers can't seem to get past this trope. The rest of the ep was yet again more drunkenness. Are Asian a lot more alcoholic than Westerners? Because I've never even met anyone that drinks as much as every BL character does, and I lived in Poland for a year.

Finally, after all that, we had to rewatch the helping grandma scene for no apparent reason. And the piano music was oppressive. I know it's trying to sound like Max Richter, but it was too loud.

I don't understand your morality. It's OK to cheat if the other person cheats first? What else is OK to do if someone else does it first? Is it OK to rape someone who raped you?

As for cheating, it's not the worst thing a person can do to another. Destroying someone's relationship and trapping them into a loveless marriage is worse.
