Title Beyond Evil Spoiler
My heart broke seeing him have major trust issues when the Manyang cops came to his rescue. He's a kid who grew…
How his father's minion just casually says to lay low or his father will give up on him. He knows because JW's father " shares everything with him." POS is right.
Yes, I think they will make a great team once they realize they are on the same side.

He basically used an illegal immigrant woman as bait and she got killed. His guilt and responsibility seem to be driving him to catch the killer. There is definitely more to find out. Everyone in that town has got some secrets. I also can't wait to find out what they are.

If Min Jung's dad is the real killer, I don't think Dong sik knows that.
I think so too, or at least up until Min Jung's murder he didn't.

Yeah, he wouldn't be protecting or colluding with the killer as Joo Won thought but for sure he could be protecting his friends from the killer. I think JJ saw something that made him become unhinged and then DS told Ji Hoon not to tell anyone about seeing JJ there or he would put himself in danger, so that makes sense.

Title Beyond Evil Spoiler
Since the beginning, Joo Won has been strongly looking in only one direction. His obsession with solving the case is actually detrimental to his goal. DS pointing out his tunnel vision while feeling him out in this last episode was really important. They are establishing that they are on the same side and will stop at nothing to catch the killer.

Wait.. for the 4 years JJ was in mental hospital there were murders? I knew there were more murders, but I either missed or forgot the timeline..
I started suspecting Min Jung's father when I saw him taking care of DS mom every day. Is it gratitude or was he telling the mom how he murdered her daughter in great detail while pretending to innocently take care of her? Seems like something a serial killer would get off on...but if it's him I don't think DS had any idea it was him, at least before Min Jung was killed. DS has been around his foster bro this many years and never knew anything though? Now that they are making Min Jung's dad seem more suspicious I am becoming less suspicious lol.

I feel like I'm just going around in circles at this point, but here are my thoughts after ep 5:
I don't think DS is protecting anyone. I don't think he is even sure who it is, though he might suspect one or more people. Here's why..
Even if it was his best friend or family, it doesn't make sense for Dong Shik to be like " oh, you killed my sister and niece, that's totally cool. Keep up the good work. I got your back," and then just let them roam free to keep killing. If he knew who it was I think he would be watching them like a hawk to catch them and keep them from murdering people, instead of getting himself arrested to draw out the killer. If Min Jung's dad is the killer, DS surely doesn't know it, or he wouldn't let him care for his mother or drag his niece home to her serial killer father. At the end of scene 5, it seems like DS is saying Min Jung's father was the last to see Min Jung, but is he really? and how does DS know, since it seems like he didn't know Jeong Je was there as well. I have suspected Jeong Je, because he is obviously off his rocker, and by giving DS an alibi, he is also giving himself one, though I am not even sure he would know if he was the killer, but that's the thing..it seems too obvious. We are only at ep 5. There is so much more to the story.
Question: What did DS mean when he told Jeong Je's mom that JJ is over once DS let's him go? Maybe JJ was a witness to a murder and that's why he is having those dreams. Would his life be in danger without DS protecting him? I am so freaking curious. I might actually go bald pulling my hair out with this one. Can't wait lol.

You have good insight. It's obvious he also grew up without much warmth either. The fact that he cares more about catching the murderer than his career ambitions shows that he is already a much better person than his father. I think he is going to learn not to judge people so easily as he gets closer to Dong Shik. It will be nice if he can find someone worth being vulnerable with.

The other day I saw a movie of which I don't remember the name. The movie was about a series of people who stayed…
Woah that movie sounds so insane. I would love to see a crazy ending like that in a kdrama.

Even though Joo Won acts arrogant sometimes, I feel sorry for him. His father is a collosal jerk. What kind of parent does that?

Love your article! I started watching JOL the other day and thought about you ( not in a creepy way XD) Fan Xian is definitely a keeper! I love his easy-going confidence and his precision in both martial arts and repartee. You remind me I need to finish The Wolf.

Yesss, the world between us was one of my favorites for 2019 and I wrote about it in my 2019 review. It is indeed…
I didn't realize you wrote the review for that. It's great that you are getting the word out on these drama that seem to be flying a bit under the radar. I have found many great dramas because of articles like yours :D

Great article! I have only seen Someday Or One Day, Love is Sweet, and The Romance of Tiger and Rose. They were all excellent, especially Someday or One Day. The best time travel drama I have seen, and a beautiful story with stellar acting. All the rest look really good so I have added them all to my ptw list. Thanks for the recs!
Some of my other favorite Chinese/ Taiwanese watches from 2020 are Ancient Detective, Miss Gu Who Is Silent, My Love, Enlighten Me, My Roommate is a Detective, and The Ghost Bride. I'll throw in The World Between Us- 2019 but worth a mention because it's a rare gem.
