Just an okay-ish drama to watch as a filler. I didn't get sucked in, but will keep watching in small doses from…
To each their own! I agree that they easily could've toned down some of the over-the-top comedy here without changing the drama much.
But I disagree about the AOS comment π I enjoyed AOS but got tired of the over-the-top comedy there too, not to mention the constant filler. I actually find the darker/serious plots of Joseon Attorney more convincing whereas in AOS it felt childish.
I agree. I don't really see the point of Joseon Attorney, for instance. Forbidden Marriage, Our Blooming Youth…
I'm enjoying Joseon Attorney a lot and I do like the lighthearted fusion sageuks. They can be good fun...I like historical fiction (emphasis on the fiction π) I just don't like when that's the only thing coming out, we should have the serious dramas too.
Side note: I can't for the life of me understand why they would give this show a time slot shared with Taxi Driver 2 which is ending only for Dr. Romantic 3 to take its place. Both are hugely popular shows that dominate the ratings (hitting 20% type ratings).
I thought it was weird this isn't even getting Poong the Joseon Psychiatrist or Our Blooming Youth level ratings when aside from having some cast pull it's much faster paced than both of those and is giving a lot on the romantic side. But in this time slot it never had a chance π
i love how the romance is build. It feels organic with how they grow closer and trust each other more and more,…
Agree agree agree! I am a slow burn type of person; usually this much development happening in six episodes would not have me buying it, but it has felt really natural here. I love how we can see the little ways they've already influenced each other. And the subtle "where is So Won?" and "ah Han Su is late again"s are melting my heart. They've undercut the bigger dramatic romantic moments (swoony falling into arms and staring) with humor which I think is refreshing...but it's those little moments of how they are relying on each other that have me squealing.
Yeah, I think the love triangle here is a non starter lol. We'll get drama and angst due to her status and possibly road blocks related to the proposed marriage with Ji Sun but the ship has really already set sail π’
I like how the light is interspersed with dark, the shift in tone is always fluent and doesn't feel jarring. It…
I'm so glad the show is mixing in this much darkness because I need that seriousness to stay invested and also buy the seriousness of the situations they're portraying. I was a little worried the cringe comedy would bleed into the law stuff and make things...awkward or insensitive. But from the eps I've seen I feel I can breathe a sense of relief because I can tell the writer cares.
Ditto on the narrative structure! I feel they have enough balls in the air now (and keep adding new ones) that I'm not worried about this one lagging in the back half which is a great feeling.
I wasn't sure if this pairing would work for me, but they are officially adorable. Who would've thought of Do Hwan and Bona in a romance? My mind is kind of blown π
EP4 was batshit unrealistic but whatever we are not watching for realism right
Nope π Fusion sageuks are not the place to look for realism and historical accuracy. If so we couldn't have girls with eyeliner fooling everyone to think they are crown princes and eunuchs, girls running moonshine businesses, becoming court historians, training to be doctors...
After ep 4, the FL has won me over. Sheβs starting to realize her views could be too naive but she doesnβt…
I feel the same! I was worried they wouldn't address her naive worldview in that episode but really glad they did. And Woo Do Hwan is too hard to resist for long π
This drama is unexpectedly gorgeous. That lantern scene made me feel like I was in a theater watching a movie. Especially since some of the historicals coming out have been pretty bland looking lately, I'm just enjoying how pretty this is π
I don't get why they don't make more serious historical dramas like this one especially considering how popular it was. The way the ratings rose for this drama is an amazing success story...yet they keep making the comedies that don't do so great. What's the deal?
I miss this one even though it broke my heart every week!
I was going to skip over this drama even though I typically at least check out most sageuks, but a friend insisted I should just try the first episodes. I'm glad they did! This is a lot of fun. If it keeps up the energy it might even become my favorite of the historical dramas I have been watching...That should teach me not to judge a drama before giving it a chance π
I have seen some people commenting "they have had no development, they are hardly even friends"...Am I watching…
Right? π I'm with you. Personally I am enjoying not having the usual romance beats (falling into arms with music swelling) take over the show every episode. If they want to pour some of those on now, I'm fine with it, because it feels earned and they haven't overdone it. But for a historical drama I enjoy this kind of slow development.
NGL if this drama don't have any romance thing just kind a like slightly romance i will dissapointed because of…
Most historical dramas like this have a poster featuring the main pairing even if the drama revolves around a lot other than romance...(Go ahead and take a look at The King's Affection, The Red Sleeve, Love in the Moonlight, Lovers of the Red Sky, Tale of Nokdu)...
Sure they could have made a poster trying to represent the whole plot better but why is everyone so hung up on it? It is just a staple of the genre...All relevant genres are listed and the synopsis is right here. I agree with the romance is a slower burn in this drama but it isn't like it's not there, just because they aren't kissing. There have been romantic developments in each episode so far.

But I've also seen some people speculate he was saying "the princess" referring to who delivered the letter...

It's historical fiction after all :D
