That was an interesting episode, it's really getting into the politics and meat of the show now. I love how our four characters are united on this conflict!
People are calling episode 11 a filler? π€¦ββοΈπ
Filler episode = An episode that is removed from the main plot/storyline, does not show any character progression, nothing of consequence to the plotline occurs, is as the name says just a "filler" to fill time
Filler episode does not = an episode you think is boring
Interesting! I've not seen The Autumn Ballad. Would you recommend it? :)
Huh, good to know. Not always a deal breaker for me. There are definitely shows that people put on their "terrible ending" list that I don't agree with so :D Will have to see myself. But thanks for the heads up!
Here's my current take on who is the enemy: Hint, it's the queen and the right minister uncle, but they're not…
Great write-up! I hope you're right about Tae Gang (CP bodyguard) because I love their scenes together. The part where restaurant lady recognized him must have gone totally over my head! Nice catch :)
Yay! Someone else enjoying this! :D People are extra harsh on this drama for some reason...I don't get it really.…
You're right about that...It makes me wonder what the comment section would look like if say Six Flying Dragons aired in 2023. "Boring, boring, where is the romance?" π I think these dramas attract a lot of people who are here for an actor (PHS in this case) but don't actually enjoy historical dramas. I love the way they've done the romance here...I'm a sucker for a good partnership built on trust!
I'm really liking this so far! I love the mystery element and the mystery-solving "gadgets", per se, which also…
Yay! Someone else enjoying this! :D People are extra harsh on this drama for some reason...I don't get it really. There are other airing dramas no better written that have gotten a lot of positivity. I don't think this one is perfect at all, but I look forward to it every week for sure.
am i the only one who gets bored with historical dramas? they are the same thing copy and pasted. the palace guys…
"they are the same thing copy and pasted" I feel you could say that about a lot of genres. Some get bored with Rom Coms because it is often the same formula, similarly for Thrillers, for Law Dramas, for Workplace dramas, for Melodramas...It is always going to be about the details of a drama and how the writer makes it special. I do agree I would love some more variety of Historicals, but it sounds like you just don't like them which is fine. Many of us do
It's funny because many commenters were complaining the romance was going too fast, and there I was thinking,…
Exactly. I saw it less of a romance phase and more so a warming up phase. I prefer a slow burn like this. It will be interesting to see how they pace the romance in the second half especially with regards to Sung On finding out about Jae Yi's real identity. Especially with the last scene of episode 9 I'm really curious how that will play out!
It is a slow burn story indeed haha. But i really appreciate the steady character development of Hwan we are seeing…
It's funny because many commenters were complaining the romance was going too fast, and there I was thinking, "Definitely not guys. We're just seeing the smoke, but the plot is going to pick up and we won't see the fire for a while" (Except for the kind that burns plum trees) π
We just needed to establish Hwan's trust so it would believable when they work together. Which it is for me!
Was lol-ing at Jae Yi cursing at the lake while Hwan was behind her π I realize from reading the comments that I'm in the minority, but I love our main couple. They are just really enjoyable to watch. I like that they have the angsty side going, but they have a good comedy vibe together too. That look Hwan gets on his face when she's cursing or going off at him, like, "Ok, I'll let you finish" π
Tbh, Hwan should not be crown prince of Joseon but king of pettiness π Not him misdirecting his jealousy into…
Agreed! It is both PHS and the way the character has been set up that is actually really working for me. You are right about it being a humanizing flaw. It makes sense that someone who has gotten a sense of what it might be like to trust someone, after never doing so, would behave...imperfectly lol. I mean even better adjusted grown adults give in to jealousies and petty behaviors.
I've noticed people have started using "filler" to describe any episode that isn't action packed and/or is paced more slowly...Maybe I am just more tolerant after watching Alchemy of Souls (which even if we like, we can admit was full of filler π ) but I wouldn't call episode 7 filler when it had several character and plot developments...
