Was thinking more about Seungwan's mom talking about needing to learn how to bend in this (grown up) world so…
Love this analysis! I agree, I am interested to see how that plays out. There is a lot about this drama that will be interesting to discuss once we have the full picture I think. The writing is very smart.

On episode 2, and I’m IN LOVE with Hee do and Yu rim’s rivalry/girl crush (on Hee do’s part)/potential friendship.…
The fencing scenes are amazing, aren't they? :D There is a lot to look forward to with both these things...Hee Do and Yu Rim and the fencing! Enjoy!

It's honestly so hard to predict where this show will go because it's not really following the "normal" rules…
Yep, that is why I'm just going with the flow 😅 I have a feeling the next two episodes might give us more of an idea where the drama is heading because after that there is only so much left they can cover in two episodes.

I still think naming this drama as 2521 as very weird especially now that half of the drama are already arent…
2521 is probably an important tuning point for their lives but also the title is inspired by the song by Jaurim which if you've read the lyrics is definitely inspiration for the whole drama

So I think many people including me made an assumption about this drama that we would be spending more time in the 21/25 ages and see more of the romance era. But now seeing the drama my perspective has shifted because I think it's clear that even though there is a romance forming here, the romance is not at all at the center of the drama. "The story is set in 1998 and tells the stories of youth who find new direction and growth after having their dreams taken away" is really the key to this drama rather than the romance. It's the coming of age and experiencing many firsts as a youth and how your perspective changes on that over time as you get older. The romance is there but it is honestly just an additional layer to the bond Hee Do and Yi Jin already have and what is more important is how they have helped each other grow in the (possibly short) time they were close to each other. This really is a drama about growing up, growing as a person, making connections throughout your life, the relationships that help you along the way, how hard times affect that growth. Falling in love is just one part of that.

You bring up a good point, that the show might not have a happy ending. I'm one of those who wants the happy ending.…
I can't make the decision for you but you just have to ask yourself if the journey of the show is worth it to you even if the ending isn't a perfect happy everyone is together ending which I think is unlikely. That doesn't mean the ending will be sad...I mean, Hee Do is relatively happy and healthy with a family and a whole life, right? :) But if Hee Do and Yi Jin not being together in the end will upset you a lot then maybe you might want to pause the show and see. I am worried a lot of people who are dying for a happily ever after are setting themselves up for disappointment even if the ending is not bad.

I'm really getting surprised by the number of people who seem to be shocked every week but especially this week that this is not a perfect happily ever after escapist fun time drama. This has been obvious from the start to me even from episode one when it was a little lighter, it still was clear. (I mean hello the first thing we get is Covid Times lol). I say this with respect but I think if you are someone who is going to get mad at the drama for exploring some deeper upsetting emotions and not having a HEA then you might consider stopping it and waiting until the end to see what happens. Save yourself from getting upset at the writing just because it's not the perfect endgame you want 💜

I can see why people think this if your only takeaway from the future scenes is whether or not Hee Do and Yi Jin…
Yeah exactly! :) They could have done a better job on them but still I think they are important. The show definitely would not hit the same without the context you're right!

Honestly this drama would’ve been fine without those scenes in the future.. it kills the mood when they switch.…
I can see why people think this if your only takeaway from the future scenes is whether or not Hee Do and Yi Jin end up together but I feel like that clearly isn't the main reason why they have included them. We can debate about how well the future scenes have been executed and I think many here would say not well but they have been thematically linked to the past from the beginning with the idea of how "the times" has an effect on someone's growing up years, and especially since so much of the drama focuses on the difficult relationships the characters have with their parents, it makes sense to show a new generation and have that as a frame for looking back. I think it could have been done better but I disagree with everyone saying they are useless because if you take them away the drama loses a whole layer of what it's trying to say.

Guys she's 40! It's really not that unrealistic that she would forget events from high school, even formative…
Thank you for this. I am honestly very perplexed to see everyone so shocked by this 😅 When you get older you do forget things that happened that long ago, yes even the things that were important to you back then. It's been twenty years for goodness' sake!

I don't know why yurim isn't trynna be friends with heedo. I mean i get why she doesnt want to be friends with…
Yeah that's what's heartbreaking is that they would be perfect allies and support for each other (and they already are as Injeolmi and Ryder!) but neither of them can really see that yet, Hee Do because she always idolized Yu Rim and was letdown by her and Yu Rim even more because she has only been able to see Hee Do as something to fear/be threatened by. But also that's what's so interesting because it seems like soon (hopefully next episode) we will get to see them finally be that support for each other! :) Excited.
