I don't know about people in China specifically but personally I usually like the side characters and additional…
So my problem with Cdrama romcoms is the side characters don't really usually add any substance to the narrative since they are flat characters. They are just there to fill the unnecessarily long episode count.
I'm actually a big fan of stories that focuse on the lives of several people, but mostly, in Jdoramas because they do it right. The lives of the characters are intertwined, and everybody's relatable. I highly recommend their slice-of-life dramas.
Someone enlighten me. Do people in China enjoy watching the side characters or couples in romcoms?
The characters are just too flat to give them this much screen time. And it's beginning to annoy me when I hit the fastforward button too often in Cdramas now. I mean yes, it's been like this for decades, but you would think there would be more changes by now. Is capitalism the culprit as always? Longer story=more money? It's just been back-to-back situation for me since Sunshine By My Side is the same. That one is such a huge waste of potential -- great main couple with an interesting narrative ruined by nonsense subplots.
He’s definitely typecast but I do believe he has range
He reminds me of us regular folks -- we can't always pick and choose when it comes to our jobs. We compromise for le money to surviva haha. Hopefully, he gets to choose better ones in the future to help him expand his range since it's a waste of talent.
This drama is not bad, but Miles Wei made my expectation higher for his projects after I watched My Marvelous Fable. That drama definitely showcased his acting range. He could definitely do more than the cookie-cutter cool rich CEO since he nailed the dorky empathic writer assistant in the previous drama. Highly recommended.
Today's episodes definitely reminded me why I liked and started having high expectations from this drama -- the realism and the wonderful imperfect leads.
That scene in episode 27 between the leads where the fl's little talk as a mentor to her mentee felt real. I was definitely in Xiao Zhan's shoes in that exact moment as I felt comforted to be told that everything will turned out fine as experience comes with age. I always dreamt of being a director/producer, so this is definitely inspiring me. Like Shen Yang said, "I'd rather start something then fail, than stay put in where I'm currently at."
Episode 26 shows how the story is a full circle. The beginning showed us how the ml was there for the fl during her hard times. And now it's the fl's turn to be there for the ml during his hard times. Love it, even the parallels in the drunk scenes lol.
This should be a good awakening for the fl to see how different this relationship could turn out compared to her previous one. Her ex-husband was barely even there when they were the married, so supporting each other through hard times was just completely out of the picture.
Can I just get into the screen and kill that sister? Can't she see that her sister is happier with another guy…
Which sister? JBY is an only child as far as I'm concerned. Well, don't take it from somebody who is skillfully using the fastforward button for unnecessary scenes lol.
P.S. I already manipulated myself into thinking the third couple and the uncle are just some nosy neighbors from her make-believe hometown. They solely exist to make her life harder than it already is. And I'm not too concerned about skipping their scenes since her ex-husband and bestfriend already bring more than enough trouble. Story conflict solved.
This is the show we should have been watching all along. How many hours have been wasted on the hockey trio? I…
Let's pretend this is like one of those Kdramas that typically air twice a week. The recent previous episodes never happened. We are all coming back from the stage incident lol.
Unfortunately, yes. Majority of the people who are not good at that are the ones who fall behind the rat race…
My pride, dignity, culture, and upbringing won't let me. Never have lived to please others but myself, so I know I'm taking the harder (and slower) route to the so-called "success." Word of advise, try not to force yourself too much as it might affect your mental health which should be above everything else (=
It appears to be just normal to network and get business by drinking and socializing since we saw LSS do a lot…
Unfortunately, yes. Majority of the people who are not good at that are the ones who fall behind the rat race (like me). The more I grow older the more I'm realizing the other skills to get the job done are not as important in the harsh unfair world compared to socializing skills (aka schmoozing).
Last two episodes were so frustrating! As much as everyone hates the ex husband - he does have good points - and…
Great points. His situation is just like mine and the majority of the working class and middle class college graduates in their 20s. I'm sick of the work system and getting taking advantage of, but how do I start a business when I have no contacts and money? The dilemma....
Episode 21's title should be "She Dropped a Bomb on Me" lol. That scene with Jian Bing and her ex-husband was gold. Go ahead give the hypocrite a taste of his own medicine. The ex and bestfriend can both enjoy a miserable relationship, and just leave the leads alone.

Me: And next thing you know, they will sign a purchase contract for their future nest.
