Yes! And more! Those microexpressions that make him unique such as the side smile that speaks for itself during that dinner scene with his dad and his dad's friend, or those eyes that tell you is highly interested or full of curiosity is just one of the million reasons why we are bound to fall in love with this actor haha.
When I was watching the 2nd episode, I keep giggling and hitting my pillow, especially during that flower scene. When Hee Tae said his swoony lines during that scene, I screamed this in my head: "I'm SOLD!" Now I'm confused if I am blinded by Lee Do Hyun or if the plot is that good haha.
P.S. Hee Tae ruined my chances of actually liking somebody in real life when the chances are already this low. (Points to the ground.)
After watching the second episode, I'm sold!!! I saw some people who find Shinshin annoying or immature, especially after focusing on his story in episode 2. However, I felt the opposite. I actually liked him more, probably, because Okada Masaki's portrayal is just awesome and realistic (he is so good with these kinds of roles), but I just really like the idea how someone like him could exist -- cute, dorky, annoying at times, pessimistic, but pure and sincere. I could actually relate to him since it's not easy to live in a tough world like this, and everybody just has different ways to survive in it regardless if they're optimistic or pessimistic.
I'm sorry, but not everyone could smile almost all the time when there's nothing to smile about or be Marry Poppins and get along with everyone. We have to accept that there are people who are fine to not be liked by everyone and who voice out their pessimistic opinions no matter how annoying they may sound. Nope, I'm totally not talking about me haha.
I breathed! I was so sure they're going to kill off Han Seo, but thank goodness, it's not him haha. I'm sorry, I didn't care that much who they kill off here as long as it's not him. Even as much as I like Vincenzo, Han Seo still stole the show for me!
I remembered I dropped the show after one and a half episode since the plot didn't interest me. But I was so bored, so I picked it up again and stayed for Vincenzo, the comedy, but mostly, Han Seo.
This! It reminded me of Marriage Not Dating too, but it made me wonder if only Han Groo is still active then maybe…
Yeah, many people compared it to Flower of Evil which is my favorite drama too, but the conflict here is different. ML doesn't have a fake persona, except for his name and background so less complicated I guess?
The ballet performance was just....too distracting lol.
I thought I would say it was beautiful but I don't know because I just...just kept focusing...somebody finish my sentences haha.
I promise I'll make a good review after finishing the last episode, but I just needed to pause the beginning of the performance because...you know...yeah haha. Let me collect myself first, m'kay?
I feel like I'm watching a mixte of I have a lover and marriage not dating because of the cast, the present and…
This! It reminded me of Marriage Not Dating too, but it made me wonder if only Han Groo is still active then maybe she would be paired with Yeon Woo Jin instead. I miss the show, but I'm liking this drama! Hooray for dramas switching up the roles with the house husband and working mom instead haha.
I've only seen 1 episode but I can say with confidence that this is my favourite drama from this season so far.I…
I just noticed that I see you in almost all of my currently watching and watched Japanese dramas! We must have the same taste then. And you beat me to it, but I was going to say this is my favorite currently airing drama too! The fresh plot and awesome comedy just spell out masterpiece to me. I mean Asian dramas are now challenging the stereotype about women. If men can get divorce multiple times, why is it taboo for women to do the same? Plus, the female lead is a CEO, a single mom, and in her 40s but guys still find her attractive. Where do you find dramas like that? That's why I'm betting all my chips that this is going to be a masterpiece.
Btw, I'll give you the link to my recap for Quartet soon once I found it. It's an old post so gotta look at the history lol.
Haaaaaiii!!! I'm so happy I found a fan! I will never forget that drama and its great ensemble! I even recapped the first episode when I rarely do blogging (*ehem 5x in my life), but my laziness won me over. Anyway, that drama has a special place in my kokoro lol.
You have no idea how much hate this drama was getting when it was airing. But I am always the odd one and so,…
You should!!! So Joon and Ma Rin's relationship just looks better and better the more I watch it. Their little intimate conversations are just precious! I was just watching that beach scene yesterday where they were talking about how silly it would be to date each other when they were already married, and it just felt so real! The dialogues themseleves were not exactly wonderful, but they carried that scene and portrayed their closeness so well that it makes me envy their relationship lol. Makes me wonder if such relationship exists.
the plot was so well-rounded, the actors had great chemistry, I absolutely loved this !!! i regret waiting so…
You have no idea how much hate this drama was getting when it was airing. But I am always the odd one and so, I ended up liking it so much that I'm still rewatching it to this day for the 5th or 6th time haha. And I'm not one to rewatch. Really, this is the only drama that I rewatched that many times.
Excellent review and great analysis of the breadth and depth of Park Bo Gum's acting talents. I would juxtapose…
Thank you. I'm glad my journalism degree did not go to waste haha. I like that you compared Ji Chang Wook, especially after watching the messy, yet entertaining Lovestruck. I've never really criticized his acting skills before since I just feel indifferent towards him, even though I like this one drama of his (Suspicious Partner). But I guess it's because of the decent or good script, and now I know why since you explained him well -- he doesn't bring his characters into life. He doesn't offend you because he doesn't overact, but he's just simply, average. He's almost like a background that you do not notice. So yeah, now that I think about it, he has no memorable roles.
I discovered Park Bo Gum in Hello Monster, and he caught my attention because he has such an innocent face, yet he was so convincing as a cruel psycho.
Therefore, you feel conflicted if you should despise or understand him, and that's how you create realistic villains that you can sympathize with. It's definitely the microexpressions, especially those puppy eyes that can turn cold and scary in a split second.
He showed that similar character here, so he had me convinced that he showcases his full potential in complex characters and not those nice or lover boy characters, for example, Record of Youth and Encounter. I feel like he's almost wasted in shows like those, so hopefully, he branches out more and do a variety of characters like he did here. I'm not saying that he should only do villain or psycho characters though. I actually love Taek (Reply 1988) because he is so ordinary, yet relatable with his introverted, pure, fragile, yet strong character. I'm just simply saying that he should do a more complex rather than your average cute boy next-door character.
Overall, it's not exactly a wonderful movie, but it showcases two powerhouses: Gong Yoo and Park Bo Gum. Gong Yoo always meets expectations and more, so I didn't really articulate his acting skills here. I just wanted to share my realization or opinion regarding Park Bo Gum's performance.
He's going to get a lead role after Vincenzo. I'm tellin' ya! I just couldn't get enough of his character there. This kid is really gonna make it big someday! If and IF, there are no scandals of course, unlike what's happenning now. (Sigh.)
You know what's better than romance? This grandpa-grandson relationship/friendship!!!
I swear, I'm never the type of person to say, "Aaaaw," but I feel like doing a drinking game now every time I say that when watching this drama (with me kicking the air too lol), especially after watching episode 8 haha.
Seriously, I'd rather pursue this type of relationship than short-lived romance haha. I just really love this drama. Reminds me of those Japanese slice-of-life dramas, especially with the nuance and simplicity. They even chose a fitting instrumental music for the ost rather than the usual distracting ballad/pop songs showcasing the singer's high notes (You aaaaaare my destiiiiinnnyyyy) which is very similar to Jdoramas' style.
Is it just me!!! Or is anybody finding it hard to get an interesting kdrama to watch....
May I suggest Jdoramas if you haven't been watching them yet? I've watched several Asian dramas (ehem about 500, maybe even more) but nothing can beat my Jdoramas haha.
Let's put it this way, I probably watch about 8 Kdramas in one season and 2 Jdoramas, but most of the Kdramas are like fillers to kill time while the Jdoramas, although fewer than the Kdramas (blame the lack of subs and video stream, inspire me and touch my cold cold heart haha.
