It was alright. Pretty good at keeping you engaged for the whole 12 episodes. Although if you're like me and expect logical consistencies in your thrillers, this one falls short like most kdramas. Just really terrible writing choices at the end.
I just started this since it was recommended on Meet Yourself's page, but I do find the intersection of online…
I was also just looking at Meet Yourself's rec's and had to double take when I saw this recommended. They are not at all similar; it's a very strange rec.
Just like Squid Games season 3. Rehashed, pointless, not very satisfying. No character development so you're just watching for the games and maybe 2 games were interesting.
I thought it started out strong. After the end of episode 2 I was on board (Im always invested in endearing old grandma characters). But idk I think it just kind of lost me when Yeom Hwa was introduced. She was just too cartoonishly evil/cheesy. Seong A and Gyeon U's relationship basically flatlined and went nowhere for so long and then they introduced Bong Su when Seong A and Gyeon U were finally starting to get somewhere.
I liked the show more when it was more character driven, but it lost me when it became more about the plot. It's pretty similar to how I felt about Undercover High School now that I think about it.
This is giving me The Witch vibes. An interesting unique premise with good production value and good mystery that makes me want to watch, but also with some nonsensical writing/editing that drag it down.
Probably could have told a better story in 12 episodes instead of 20. Really nice character work with the FL, her character was easy to root for. The ML though was not nearly as interesting, and honestly a little grating/overacted. A little too much focus was on the serial killer plot, which tbh it is essential to the story but it just wasnt written very well and didnt hold my interest. Overall though it wasnt bad, but you'll probably need to skip around and FF through some episodes.
From the point the Chairwoman got arrested, her entire story line was just a full blown makjang. Her over the…
Yeah I was disappointed that they went that route but also never showed or gave a reason why she was so crazy. If you're going to give her so much screen time at least give her a back story.
Its a happy ending. I would say it has shades of romance, but its not a satisfying romance to watch. I would not recommend to watch for just the romance.
On a rewatch and seeing the first 13 minutes (which is the opening action scenes and the buddha statue mission)…
I think the problem is the tone of the show shifted from slapstick comedy to serious dramatic thriller. When those "unbelievable" things are happening its easier for the audience to accept when the show also isn't taking itself too seriously. But the way that the plot and certain characters were written kind of railroaded them into having to make the show extra serious towards the end, and that's also why the show lost its charm for me.
It depends. Some people dont like the start, some dont like any of it. I actually liked the first 5 episodes and thought it was pretty interesting, but I dont think it ended well at all. Its very much a slow slow burn. I think if you dont like the first episode then I would recommend to just watch something else.
