Have you tried Taxi Driver? I felt pretty darn satisfied with the payback — particularly in season 1.
no, and now i will, please any more actual revenge plot recommendations! <3
since i originally started with romance genre pretty much every show ended with the evil character just losing in the love department but literally being let off the hook for everything else they did (crimes, attacks, misunderstandings etc). so please enlighten me! taxi driver added to watchlist.

i have commented if you scroll up.. please tell me if my suspicion is true , and the revenge is indeed very soft,…
hmm now im intrigued, it does seem that at least a few of the evil characters indeed get dealt with and there is some kind of revenge i guess ill finish it since its so short.
PLEASE if by any chance you have any other revenge drama with actual revenge i'd love a recommendation. (romance once just usually end up with the Lead Couple ending together and the female usually antagonist just losing in love but being let off for any crimes etc) so im guessing some other genre that i havent dug into might have some interesting revenge plots.

There is no other word to describe how I feel about this drama than boring. How do you start a drama with a brutal…
i have commented if you scroll up.. please tell me if my suspicion is true , and the revenge is indeed very soft, in every Korean drama that is supposed to be about revenge, the evil characters get easily let off in the end. It's such an annoying and unclimacting feeling after having invested so many hours..

knowing Kdramas and Korea in general, there will ultimately be no real revenge in the end, always the evilest characters get a pat in the back or just fade out in the last episodes, i've specifically searched for revenge dramas and have wasted countless hours with no real satisfaction, at least when there is a disgustingly evil character but the drama is not tagged as[revenge] i can justify not having that satisfaction. But it's just misleading when many dramas' whole premise is based on revenge or at least a revenge plan and you just get your blood boiling for episodes with no real payout.
edit after having watched the SECOND season: it indeed has revenge, thankfully, BUT for more than half the characters it is either subtle or not even shown. Of course the Main evil antagonist gets punished and it's the revenge with most scenes, other characters become truly secondary or worse . Still there is closure to some degree, kinda rushed but not incomplete, would really love a Season 3 because it ends in a cliffhanger way. If you rate/count both seasons as 1, because realistically the first part(8 episodes) like reading 30% of a book, then yes i would rate it 8/10 as a whole, maybe even more.

oh btw not only is there no punishment for the trashy evil character, she also shows ZERO remorse up to the last…
i compared it to a Drama that did so well in just 12 episodes, had no boring filler episodes etc, i didn't mention it because they have similar stories, the plot is different obviously, ALL the elements i mentioned above are evenly shown in that drama UNLIKE here.
Also what credibility? it's a comment and an opinion, credibility is for those who have credentials, i never acted like an expert or something, i'm just an Asian series fan and having watched a ton of them i decided to offer my opinion on what i see.
If you want to respond to a comment try to argue the actual point next time. If you just want to state your opinion do it in your own comment.

writing skills are not just about having a good idea, it's about character development, event and small plot arc introduction and proportionately writing important or not events in every episode (that's why some dramas have a 'rushed' ending or have a couple of uninteresting episodes at number 7-8-9 our of 16). All that APART from just writing a story.
Here we have a few characters that are introduced to us and have no development or vanish completely without serving any purpose, we have a friendship between brother and sister's boyfriend that has no point, doesn't get revealed, get misunderstood, or stand as obstacle, so it's a couple of pointless scenes where these 2 boys interact. (this is just one of the examples), as i said above most of the aunts interactions and other stuff i thoroughly explained and a few that i didn't.
Literally half of the drama's summary (1 of 2 paragraphs) is about 'Seeking revenge' as it says, and the trailer which by the way is not a fanmade thing, shows the key scenes that provoke the revenge in motion. Of course since it's a Kdrama we know the happy ending/love trumps all, as always BUT at least in a drama that's about revenge we should have SOME KIND of punishment or satisfaction. There other dramas that the evil characters only star in half the episodes but give more satisfaction in the end with how their story develops. Here it's a lukewarm fade away of that exact character.
Apart from Lee Sung Kyung, the other main reason i (and possibly other viewers) even started watching this, was the element of revenge which was basically nonexsitent and that was the biggest part of my commenting on. So no, they didn't 'objectively deliver what they promised' , but as i also said it wasn't a bad drama. It's just another meh-romantic drama out there that keeps your heartrate stable throughout the whole 16 hours you invest in it, big deal.. i hope when enough people watch it the rating starts to stabilize towards it's real value because it definitely is not a 8.4 , other than that if you want any element that this drama has you can get it multiplied by other dramas, you want really good chemistry between leads? this drama is not the one, you want true revenge or evil character punishment? this drama is not it, you want romantic exchanges and interactions? not it, office powertrips and office misunderstandings/schemes? veeery mild in here, family love between siblings? really underportrayed here, Second male lead that has deep love and eventually stays as friend while helping FL throughout the whole drama? i think this is one element they DID do well in this. I'm not saying all these elements are missing but they are very mild or seriously underplayed, while you can find them in other dramas done as they should. Oh also, do you want stellar acting? guess what, again not in here.
So all the things i said in all my comments above for me make this drama overrated. It's my opinion but at least i present it based on some facts and some feeling this drama left me while watching it, that's what this comment is all about anyway. Also i didn't say DO NOT WATCH THIS or whatever, but indeed 16 hours seem like a waste of time for this. If 'A business proposal' succeeded to do what it did in 12 episodes then sure as hell Call it love doesn't need 16 episodes to show it's substance.
If someone is like me and barely has any dramas left to watch so he watches anything and everything because they have finished pretty much everything, i'd suggest watch it at 1.25x fast forward a few scenes, any flashback and staring scene is pretty much useless.
Good luck

girl why are you so pissed off? the kdrama was really good enough that i recommended it to people who were new…
i didn't talk about any hype, i said it's overrated, 8.5/10 for this is the definition of overrated, also you didn't comment about ANY of the points i made after i already said it's not a bad drama. You might like dramas just because they are eye candy or whatever, but people with normal attention span tend to notice plot holes or unfinished introduction to characters and stuff like that.
I commented pointing out flaws of this drama even though it is good, which i mentioned, and you just said you enjoyed it without proving me wrong or even counterpointing any of the things i said. It's the comment section, this is the purpose it exists, i left my thoughts on the drama and i said i wouldn't recommend it, i didn't hate on it nor did i say DO NOT WATCH THIS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. It's everyone's free will, watch the trailer, watch the actors, read the plot, read a few comments(or not) and decide by yourself. That's how you choose a drama.
For example if you are a person that can't stand watching evil characters go unpunished or getting revenged upon and a few comments said that 'this drama will make your blood boil, the evil characters ruin the Lead's lives in every episode and in the end they don't get punished/they even get forgiven' , then you wouldn't want to waste 15+ hrs on it just to have these emotions.
The most underrated drama you've ever watched, by that statement only you mean it should be rated like 9.5/10 or smth, have you even watched a masterpiece yet? a non-romance drama that is perfect in all aspects and doesn't blur your critical thinking with kisses and sexual tension? a drama that has perfect photography, costumes, plot arcs, character development, satisfaction, mystery, making you think and be at the edge of your seat? a drama where actors involved performed their hearts out and weren't just a cute face or your typical romance lead?
Get real.

btw not only is there no revenge on female antagonist, she also has ML's assistant rooting for her and loving…
it's been 6 months, i don't really remember BUT having watched a ton of these dramas i can say that most probably SML was some sort of love interest that settled for friendship and didn't actually make up random obstacles and misunderstandings for the Lead characters, unlike female antagonists. That's what basically happens in 90% of the dramas.

a few things to point out here. There is not enough chemistry between the leads, the ML's side is the one lacking…
oh btw not only is there no punishment for the trashy evil character, she also shows ZERO remorse up to the last episode, the last scene totally ruined it for me, FL and ML lovingly smiling at each other. AT LEAST since we had no satisfaction in punishment, we should have the joy of the evil mom hating herself for the rest of her life for ruining her son's(ML) lovelife for a second and definitive time. Ugh Korean writers are such cowards.

Title Call It Love
a few things to point out here.
There is not enough chemistry between the leads, the ML's side is the one lacking in my opinion.(not as an actor, it's just his overall vibe and appearance can't portray what the writers are going for).
Very little substance in the drama overall, the real parts where the plot progresses are minimal and there are many random events that serve no purpose to the greater plot/character development.
Again the evil character (ML's mother) doesn't really get punished, for a drama whose whole premise is revenge it really did underperform.
There are many character arcs that open and get nowhere because the writers didn't bother elaborating more. For example FL's sister gets into a relationship with a young guy who apparently is also her brother's friend and this whole connection is left at that, even after the relationship ended the way it did etc. And other office related stuff that happen and then just float around until we forget them 2-3 episodes later. Same goes for the aunt characters.
Generally they thought of a main plot and supposed that the romance would be enough to sidetrack the whole plot into the ending they wanted to write initially, but it wasn't.
It really is just meh. I wouldn't say it is bad, but it is definitely not worth 16 hours of watchtime.
A simple 6/10 (would rate it a bit less but Lee Sung Kyung stars in it so..)

ok it's a joke how terrible it is and they keep making it worse, episode 15 suddenly FL decides to take care of…
just a tip, reading many comments is closer to reality than reading the 'review' section, as most people comment while watching it, after all this type of dramas are selling the 'feeling' to you rather than the plot.
There are a handful of dramas of this particular genre and even more specifically plotline that are way more worth watching.
Heated comments often portray the emotion that you will get while watching it as well. Except if you are glance-watching it while doing other things at the same time.

ok it's a joke how terrible it is and they keep making it worse, episode 15 suddenly FL decides to take care of…
she is rich, from a rich family and her partner is rich as well, and IN the showbusiness, she got handed main roles for at least 4 years in a row because of her partner even though her acting was terrible in them, she most definitely has a say to what roles she chooses as her family owns a big part of the agency that represents her (obviously) and since nepotism works that way she has the chance to fulfill her shallow dream of being famous for whatever reason.
I get that you are probably a hopeful person and like to see the good side of things (probably even if there isn't one) but the comment section serves the purpose of what i did. Comment on the drama under any premise, that can be venting, criticizing , praising, hating and whatnot.
I felt those hours where stolen from me , that's how bad this drama was and even if one person has remotely similar tastes to mine and can avoid wasting many hours of their life on this then that's a success.

On The Time We Were Not in Love Apr 22, 2023
treating it as a Romance drama and judging the romance components in it it's above mediocrity.
The chinese version (the evolution of our love) was more interesting and more intriguing even though both that and the Korean version(this one) are definitely watchable and not over the top.
I'd give this a 7.5/10 and the chinese version 8/10 , i;m also currently watching the Japanese version as well but for those who know how Japan rolls, their romance genre is totally different so i won't compare it.
All in all if you skip a bit and watch it in 1.25x speed it really is a smooth watch.
It's decent, if you even remotely like one of the lead characters watch it without thinking twice. If you are in a romance-crazed binge-period in your life this is not a priority as the romance is mild and not feet-sweeping.
7.5/10 (in romance genre) , i should clarify because there are masterpieces that are in the genre of crime and whatnot and if you were to compare this drama's general aspects to those masterpieces it would score even lower, but it is not fair since production , plot holes(or lack thereof) etc are not a priority in romance.

by the way, ML's father's character development and overall story is one of the best written in all family dramas…
aaaaaaaaaaaaaand as expected it became worse and worse until it finally reached 4/10.
Also how stupid the writers are for downplaying how much of a terrible person the female antagonist is, after ~90 episodes of building up pure hatred on the viewers whenever she appeared on screen, they just downplay it because 'whoops she is a human being and has hurt little feelings' , YIKES.
We all know that in Kdramaland 95% of the times the unspeakable hateful cancerous characters do not get what they deserve, they MIGHT get a slight punishment , or even fade out and just show them leaving far away or whatever, but even keeping that in mind it is ridiculous how easy and how lenient everyone is on the antagonist. there is zero degree of punishment or revenge or even justice.
As expected.
2 main reasons i didn't drop it: 1)i had already invested a ton of hours and the last 25% was just the last hiccup, 2) ML's father character development and overall story. truly well made,.

the thing is they keep adding more and more evil characters on the same side of the plot.It will be hard to keep…
by the way, ML's father's character development and overall story is one of the best written in all family dramas i've seen, and they are A LOT.
Really that is what truly evolving as a person and becoming better slowly and more affectionate is all about.
They handled him perfectly which is very suspicious given how poorly they have written 90% of the rest of the characters.
Even if i turn off all my emotions and watch the drama JUST for his scenes it will still be worth it, that's how good it is.

the thing is they keep adding more and more evil characters on the same side of the plot.
It will be hard to keep them evolving and have closure for all these characters in the rest of the episodes, literally if you devoted 2 episodes per evil character to make him go all in and then get punished(which won't happen as always) or just wither away, it will take most of the second half of the drama, i think writers lost their target when writing and adding schemes/obstacles to the main character and now they have to rush to tie the loose ends.
All in all it's not a bad family drama, it's nice for the first ~45 episodes a lot of characters have screentime and are not just extras.
I have finished exactly half of the episodes and it's a 7/10 so far.
The drama is set to go downhill the way they set up all the things i mentioned above, i want to see if they somehow salvage it or let it crash and burn.

nahhh it's very mediocre, there is no buildup early on, we are just introduced to a situation without any info on how SML knows who ML is, or how he got his position, what the powers really do etc etc etc.
It's a mess.
I'm sure you can understand what happens later on but it's not worth investing 4+ hours being confused to THEN start clearing out things. If you have patience and time to waste then go for it.
FL is pretty.

ok at episode 90 now and nothing much has changed from my comment above, in other news most of the characters…
one MORE useless and too-little-too-late trope they use in korean dramas is yet again used here to try and salvage the bad writing of this, Suddenly since there are only two last episodes we have to rush it and make EVERY character redeemable or not hateful/hated etc. that's not how things work, each episode the amateurity of the people involved in this drama is shown more and more.
5/10 final verdict.
Ending was as predicted and as bad as i thought.
