Not sure what you are trying to say. I checked out your watchlist and I am sorry but Business Proposal was one…
i watched a business proposal for the romance, and guess what i got, a great deal of romantic scenes, some good chemistry(especially the SML and SFL) and i rated it as such, also it was short not draggy and didnt waste time at any point, if i had to rate it in a general scale of course a drama like 'My Name' for example is a 10/10 and business proposal would get like an 8 or something, but i didn't go in expecting my mind to be blown, or to have a super intriguing plot or whatever. The Glory is another example of a general 10/10 drama for me, it would score a 2/10 in romance genre rating tho. that's how i rate things.
I agree with you. It's not a masterpiece in any sense. Plus the show has unnecessarily 14 episodes , 9-10 episodes…
i agree, maybe even 12 episodes, it took a lot of time for some things to unfold so there were legit 30+ mins in a row at times that nothing crucial or even important to the progression of the plot happened.. It lacks in some aspects but not enough to be rated poorly, and it does a very good job in other aspects, plus it's current and has a decent maybe even good cast so i get anything above 7.5 rating. but nearing 9/10 is not justified in my eyes, but that's why everyone has the right to vote and comment/recommend it to others. I watched it , i liked it , i rated it, the end. There is no reason to come back to this drama at any time, not rewatchable, not an extreme fan of any actor in this although i do respect 2 actors in it, and a very easily remindable plot once you see the first episode it will all come back to you so no point in revisiting.
lol to each its own, for you what a masterpiece might not be to me or viceversa.....I don't like many many hyped…
rewatchable? are you drunk? How is a drama like this rewatchable? The whole point of this drama and the reason it had hype while it was still being aired is that every episode left the future unknown, kept pounding on ML's family while the evil grew stronger, had no hope for ML's health development and his mother's bad news, we only saw progress later on when flashbacks started to happen or when they found the evidence even though he still wasn't himself yet. Any drama that has some kind of mystery/amnesia/revenge plot can't be rewatched without you needing caffeine to not sleep of boredom, you literally know what's going to happen, and there is no romance or passionate scenes, or even fighting scenes that are just objectively good to watch again and again. You go rate it 10/10 it's totally your right to do it, but don't comment inaccuracies. What you said about plot acting etc i agree to some degree as i mentioned, but rewatchability and disproportionate writing among the episodes are for sure negatives in this.
i don't get the all the fuss about it, it's nowhere near the masterpiece you all praise this drama to be. an 8/10 yes, has many interesting and many overused elements too. Acting is actually good, there are some characters(important ones) that get too little screentime, and there are small plot holes in the backstories but still it's very good in most aspects. BUT anything above 8/10 is a blasphemy for the actual masterpieces LET ALONE AN 8.9(at the time im writing this, one day after its' finale). I'm guessing overhype and fangirling results in such ratings, also it just ended so it will probably drop around 8.6 in the near future as with all dramas that end. Also the final episode has some quite anticlimactic plot closures both in revenge aspect, and in character development aspect. So yea it's not disappointing by any means but it is indeed overrated.
having rewatched it recently i can't really understand why people rate it above 8/10. It is a romance drama with quite a few of the cliche plot points that romance dramas have(which is to be expected i'm not stating it as a negative) BUT the chemistry is mediocre, both within the Lead Couple and between them and secondary characters. The 'quirkiness' of their personalities is nothing new in this genre, the contract relationship+cohabitation troupe that eventually leads to 'real' relationship is overused(which again is fine) but it's not even executed perfectly or exciting enough to make this anything above an 8/10. My guess is some actors in this have a typical crazy fanbase that overinflate the ratings without reason. In the romance genre it's an 7.5/10 max. I get someone might relate more to it or be a superfan and rate it a tiny bit higher but 8.4 is a blasphemy to truly romantic dramas. It's one of the few dramas that weren't exciting enough for me to binge watch, it wasn't boring enough or uninteresting enough to drop either. It was just decent. Also for a good part of it the secondary characters get limited screentime and no real evolution at all, and then almost an entire episode is focused on them and magically they are part of the drama? Idk why writers would make it such a disproportionate distribution along the episodes. Most aspects are average or good, not really bad departments involved in it.(for example clothing department sometimes really kills the vibe in these dramas, overdressing a somewhat financially struggling FL or dressing MLs as waiters and whatnot). Aaaanyway, would i recommend it to someone fond of romance? Probably waaaaaay after many other dramas in the genre, would i tell someone it's a waste of time and to not start it/drop it? NO.
it dragged a few events into 2 episodes when it could be resolved in less screentime, and it kinda rushed the ending, BUT overall it's a decent romance drama, don't expect too much passion , the chemistry between almost every character is good though. Not only opposite-sex relations but friendships as well, FL's sister and brother could really not exist at all and still nothing would have changed and no one would notice, also LawyerFL's mother's ending could have been handled better and with more dignity towards her and more punishment towards her father. Also LawyerFL's romance/or not evolution is really mild and slow close to nonexistent while there was screentime where they could develop that. All in all i'd give it an 8/10 in the romance genre(remember that's how you rate dramas). Comparing it to mystery/action/revenge masterpieces with good art directors , photography and stellar acting is unfair. Of course i'd rate it a bit lower but you gotta know what to expect. In this particular genre there is no point wasting budget in photography department, or making airtight backstories for secondary characters or even have an intriguing plot as a whole, overplayed cliche plots are fine to get what they need when they invest in romance genre. If you are fond of any actor in this do watch it, it's not boring.
to add on that, we've seen many from rags to riches stories, also many plots where the lead character is a doormat…
to be fair it's long since i've watched it, and i did watch it all in one go, meaning 30+hrs of watching in a row, BUT i rated it 7.5/10 and i usually rate things according to their genre, so if a 100+ episode family drama is rated 7.5 by me it's probably not really worth wasting the time. And i say that because compared to other 7.5/10 mystery dramas or romance 16-episode ones i would rate it even lower, but im comparing in only to these long KBS typa dramas. I or you could go to my watchlist and sort by number of episodes and then check my ratings if you want to find some similar dramas worth your time. Also i'm pretty sure in all the 50+/100+ episode dramas i have made at least one big comment on their MDL page so with a bit of scroll you can find that too, IF on the other hand you are already invested on this one or you really like some character/actor in it , go for it but i guess i wouldn't recommend it, even though my dislike/afterthought feelings are not fresh and can't even exactly remember the plot, just by checking my rating i know im NEVER gonna rewatch it. (i do rewatch some of the truly great 100+ episode dramas on 1.25x speed and skipping some meaningless scenes) Hope it helped.
Ahn Jae Hong's face is weird, i can't get used to it being the Male Lead..It's not ugly but it has more than one…
nahhh as you go on it's too much. his character is also annoying as hell, something you might put up with if it was a different actor embodying it, that's it for me, i'm dropping it. So far also one of the three FL's story is also very boring and she is a complete doormat on top of it which is an extra uninteresting thing in this. And i have not seen any extreme charisma or good chemistry between any of the characters so far, either as friends or as opposite-sex relationships.
Ahn Jae Hong's face is weird, i can't get used to it being the Male Lead.. It's not ugly but it has more than one weird features, and not in a unique WOW way. Idk this drama starts with no real interesting events in the first episodes, makes it hard to give u a reason to continue watching it
it's kinda slow at times, then 2-3 big events happen in a short period and then it drags a bit again. it's not bad by any means, it really is what you expect from a romance drama that has Jang Na Ra as a Lead, if you are hoping for over the top passion , or extreme chemistry between characters and stuff, don't. On a good note, most if not all the secondary characters are nicely written, they have shared screentime and almost all of their storylines progress, either healing of marriages, or finding love and whatnot. The kid/kids could have a bit more screentime since they are already part of the drama AND there is indeed quite a few scenes wasted here and there. Generally it's a well written grown up romance drama, mostly about the lives of the characters themselves AROUND their relationship and not having the relationships as the main focus. One more thing, when all things start to fall in place in episode 12-13 , it feels too early so the writers had to use some unnecessary misunderstanding/new outside force or whatever, one that was not introduced to us until now which makes it even more desperate as a move, i would really rate it higher if they ended at 12 episodes with a bit more proportionate writing, BUT they went all melodrama on it for the last few episodes to drag it to 16 and ruined the feeling. I'd say it's a 7/10
I watched the first few episodes and they were fun but later it got kind of boring, does it get better at the…
honestly i just finished episode 8 and it feels like it's progressing veeeeery slowly. On top of that there is no extreme charisma in any of the characters/actor roles, so you keep losing interest... if for example ML's overconfidence kept going in the first few episodes it would at least have a fun element in it. Idk, i feel like i've watched the same episode over and over, in the last 260mins maybe 2mins of important stuff have happened , stuff that matter and can evolve the plot.
ahhh it had so much potential, even the buildup up to 9th-10th episode was good enough, but the last episodes were very anticlimactic, it's not a bad drama but it definitely leaves you with a sense of incompleteness. Jang Na Ra is a national treasure btw. i'd give it a 7.5/10
Not wasted potential but definitely underperformed given its' initial setup. As someone mentioned in the previous…
oh also for those who asked about romance, no , ZERO romance, but to be fair it is not tagged as if it has any hint of romance so it's fine. You could argue it's tagged as strong female lead and this is also absent but well.. you get what you get.
Not wasted potential but definitely underperformed given its' initial setup. As someone mentioned in the previous comment(and i replied extensively) lead actor makes it even more dull when it is already unraveling pretty boringly. There are connections that take almost 10(out of 12) episodes to unravel , and while we know the target of the revenge and the connections between characters themselves since episode 5 or 6 , we have to endure the slow progress of them unraveling. The story is somewhat interesting, not anything extremely fresh but not overplayed in the genre either. The character development is mediocre, some characters are wasted in the sense that they could indeed have more backstory revealed and they don't, for example ML's adopted mother and her company share scheme, is a completely unused plot arc(they sprinkle it a bit in the last episode but for all the episodes prior she never showed extra intent on acting on this), or the secondary characters too. The second ML(the 2nd revenger) as well. I mean it wasn't bad, the fighting choreography was well executed in most scenes, some of the flashbacks and stuff where cool and not overly repeated (usually flashbacks are repeated every couple episodes to occupy screentime and excuse the 16-episode dramas). FL has no extreme charisma, she is just another cute face in the role of a semi-badass detective with a somewhat painful past, nothing new, nothing extreme in acting, but not bad either. It's a solid 7/10 and the main reason it's not below 7 is that it's 12-episode long, meaning if it had the same pace as it did and was a 16 episode one, i would rate it even lower. I would recommend watching it at 1.25x speed and you could basically skip most of the CEO/evil dad scenes where he sits with other powerful men in couches/offices. There are quite a few dramas on the same genre that i would recommend watching before it came down to this so it's not really a priority.
The male lead is a meh actor (so dull).. I dropped all the dramas he was in.. except this one, I don't know how…
exactly, i mean i get that in many of his roles he needs to seems cold and emotionless because of past trauma/drama/events but it's still TOO MUCH. And when unavoidably the drama becomes softer or the longing love story comes to a closure he still seems the same, having him smile for a few scenes in the end don't change his cold manner. In my opinion this actor could play evil cold blooded serial killer roles etc, but because of his popularity and fanbase he is only cast as main lead which always means one of the 'good guys'. I just finished it and was gonna write a review and this was one of my main points..
"The story begins one year before "Dokgo" (before Kang Hyuk seeks revenge for his twin brother). "Do I need to…
hey i might be late, binged it today and did some research. The summary might be misleading, this is the drama, there is no prequel or anything. It starts with events leading UP TO main character starting his revenge plan for his brother (by going back to school) . There is a webtoon but i think its the same story pretty much, idk if the webtoon has a part 2 or season 2 but yeh. The ending seems open but its not a cliffhanger, the drama starts in a way, there is a plot and it gets resolved BUT in the process of doing what needs to be done, we learn in the last scenes that Lead character's brother was beaten to death so end scene is Lead, preparing to raise hell. So i'd say part 1 is this drama, part 2 uknown if will be released.
8.5/10 really seems to be an overstatement for this. It's unnecessarily long. There is no reason to drag things out so much. There are events/misunderstandings that could be resolved way faster and it takes longer without obvious reason. It's your typical chinese soft romance drama, definitely not as good as it is rated here but not bad either. For its' purpose, its' genre and its' intent it is exactly what you would expect. 7/10.
The Glory is another example of a general 10/10 drama for me, it would score a 2/10 in romance genre rating tho. that's how i rate things.
