On My ID Is Gangnam Beauty Jun 18, 2023
any rating below 8 does it justice.
It's kinda draggy in the middle few episodes, 150+ mins in a row where nothing happens.
FL is a doormat , SFL is a cunning little snake.
FL's best friend should have more screentime.
ML's sister could too.
All in all it should have been a 12-episode drama.
It's what you'd expect from the whole teenage/young adult romance genre.
7/10 in this particular genre.

i'm glad she's getting only minor or guest roles, especially after gangnam beauty.

ok it's like being inside the brain of a wanna-be drama writer that has ADHD and is drunk at the same time, while…
NOTE: after watching season 2 with the addition of Kim Sang Ho as a director you can see it is a wayyyyy smoother watch. Episodes(or at least every other episode) have a start middle and ending, events happen and are addressed in a timely manner and then resolved, the subplots/side stories are running parallel to the main plot and not randomly derailing it or confusing us like season, the romantic is veeery small, better than season 1, but in all honestly both of these seasons having the tag romance is a reach.
I'd say if you watch season 1 at 1.25x speed and skip some unnecessary parts and the repeated flashbacks, you could finish watching it before the urge to turn it off, and then naturally starting season 2 you'll get a smoother watch and even hooked. I wasn't hooked per se but it was indeed intriguing and the addition of the new girl and her mysterious reason for moving in the house actual had you expecting what's gonna happen next, when anything is going to be revealed etc.
Simply by showing us the premise of the season(meaning the stimulus, the letter) we knew what was going on and we had a lead to follow. Of course with the intention of delivering the letter to the girls everything else happened but there was a reason everything fell in place.
I'd say Season 2 is a 7 maybe even 7.5/10

ok it's like being inside the brain of a wanna-be drama writer that has ADHD and is drunk at the same time, while thinking he can make the most shocking/interesting drama on earth.
It's all over the place, things don't add up, almost everything gets cut off and discontinued mid-scene, plot arcs are not properly closed or even developed , they start mini-plots without any future, we have different stories that have totally different paces, one is progressing like hell, the other is the same from start to finish, others change mid-series, others start with flashbacks and in the end none of that matters.
Really it's like you took a few short stories, added them all in a blender page by page, but the window was open and because of a breeze you lost a couple of pages from each short story, the last pages of one story, the middle pages of another and so on.
It's painfully uninteresting, trying to force yourself to watch more is a proper task! It's not because it's unwatchable and you wanna drop it, it's because you see LITERALLY no point in anything that goes on, yet it's rated so high and there are people praising it, and you wonder... will there be some plot twist?(even though there are so many subplots that one wouldn't be enough), will there be some shocking revelation that suddenly makes it interesting in the last 10 min?(spoiler: no)...
I do get it's star-studded and it's easy to amass ratings and views, even to the point of making a season 2, but for the more objective and frequent Kdrama watchers it's just a hassle watching this.
Also there are a lot of comments about the male characters. What? There are maybe 2 completely trashy male characters but for every one of them, 3 or more good male ones spawn. Also a drama written so poorly can't work without antagonists/evil characters. And by the way, one of the main female characters is also a true trash, even though trying to salvage it because she had a past event that happened to her, doesn't justify her CHOICES but yea let's swear at the evil secondary/even less, male characters that serve a purpose on the progress of the drama and blatantly accept a literal meat-for-hire.
Anyway, it's hard to rate it. Anything above 4/10 seems like a stretch, it would only make sense if it was a part 1 of series and the second season was part 2 (like The glory for example) but that's not the case.
The same plot handled by ANY family drama producer/writer could have been handled waaaaay better even though itself as a plot is not interesting, so it's not like the actors are at fault here.

Watched 1 episode, what a bunch of rude and disrespectful flatemates.. and dropped
exactly what i was gonna write, after 60 mins of this , it's just totally uninteresting, there doesn't seem to be a plot or any idea behind it, it's just some random rude people and some strangers interacting, so FL(at least episode 1 FL) is a complete doormat and a pathetic human with no self respect, and until the end of the episode she just becomes a tad bit less of a doormat and just becomes a shy quiet kid. BIG WHOOP.
No reason to keep on watching, it might get interesting later on but that's the writers' fault for not creating enough intrigue for the viewers to go on.
So if i have to trust MDL's rating and keep on going with the hope it's not just one more of those overrated overinflated dramas that just have a famous lineup of actors and gets ratings when it shouldn't , it seems like i would waste tons of hours on tons of different dramas. DROPPED.

Title Doctor Cha
from episode 14 up to the ending it gets derailed and seriously downhill.
very poor plot closure after having so many open conflicts and setting them up for more than 10 episodes in a row.
The feeling between FL and (i guess) SML Dr.Roy are completely unnecessary to the progression of the plot and most probably serve the purpose to take some anger away from the cheating couple where both of them are complete trashes.
There are numerous attempts to justify cheating, having child out of marriage, and brazen stance of the cheating woman towards the FL(the cheated one). And remember this is Korea, where your life could be ruined even by rumors let alone someone learning what SFL had done(SML too but we're not talking about him now). So what's the logical next step? FL keeps being a complete doormat and caves to whatever SFL says instead of exposing that garbage being and ruining her life as she should, oh and her sneaky little snake illegitimate daughter too.
Doormat characters are fine if handled well even when someone one-sidedly loves them (like SML) , but on top of that we have workplace abuse , cheating, humiliation and illnesses so it just becomes a terrible drama in the end.
Really poorly written, had potential AND had a good few episodes where it seemed they were building it up well, but totally anticlimactic execution.
Good setting, good acting from almost everyone, yes even the evil characters, only the illegitimate daughter and the Mother-in-law acted poorly, like any random person you'd find on the road. Cheating or not the characters executed their premise well and overall even though anticlimactic the ending does leave you with a sense of closure, just not satisfaction(both in romantic, and interrelation aspect).
I bumped it to 7.5/10 from a pure 7 just because of FL's acting, SML's kind manner and the legned Kim Mi Kyung (FL's mother) who gives us little gems of performance regularly and for so many years in a row.
Also i would like to see Uhm Jung Hwa(FL) in more Lead roles in adult centered or adult themed dramas, i hope her career goes upwards from now on!

i like the leads, i do hate SFL(the person acting, and the character, and most of her characters actually, im unlucky enough to have picked quite a few dramas that she 'acts' in), BUT even if there is some weird and kinda nice chemistry between the leads, the plot is too obvious and things that writers intended to be shocking coincidences or whatever are veeeery easily predicted just by paying a tiny bit of attention. So if i know what's going to be revealed 3 episodes later it kinda kills the vibe and every second until something interesting happens becomes draggy.
That being said it's surely a 7, maybe even 7.5 /10 but it is rough and has a disproportionate spread of the plot among the episodes. Also both mothers' plot arc seems unnecessary at first then it's kinda important then fades out or stops developing all at once. Weird pace overall.

really need a lot of skips and 1.25x speed to tolerate this, it's super slow, and annoying at times, there are other criminal mastermind or framing innocent people type of dramas that do such a good job, compared to this they are masterpieces...
I think the writters lost it because they wanted to put the romance+ex-lovers element on top of everything that's going on, and they already vowed to have a 20 episode run before they went to production, could have easily been handled in 12-16(even thats a stretch) episodes and it would have scored higher in my books.
For example if i were to rate this 7/10 , i would bump it to an 8 if it was a 12/16 episode drama as it was suited to the plot.
In other points there's no need to comment, you have your typical evil but ignorant characters, the CORE antagonist which is the villain/murderer , and the (few) good characters that try to navigate the situation.
All woman characters apart from FL and FL's mother are truly poorly written and overall annoying, same goes for a few male characters although they are more in total and less in percentage good/bad.
The whole ex-cheating-lovers and whatnot plot arc is kinda pointless, serves no purpose in the progression of the overall plot and just annoys you and adds random unnecessary scenes and cause misunderstandings. It's not a family drama or a pure romance one so that many troupes and cliches used here is just too much, and kinda kills the vibe of the 'mystery killer' etc.
OH and btw above i said if i were to rate it, i actually DO rate it 7/10 , maybe a bit higher if you are a fan of some actor in this but the MDL rating here is just too much, idk why this drama is so overrated but to each his own.
I wouldn't recommend watching it, but it's your choice.

when they make the ML so obnoxious they think it's cute or whatever but it's actually appalling, you can make him cold/distant and whatnot, make him have one of those super stuck up jobs, make him nerdy, make him RUDE, apathetic, and overall mean, have him dressed as the most stuck up person with the worst haircut, and have him be a total piece of sh** to everyone around him including the FL BUT when you don't just pick a few of this attributes but ALL of them it's just unwatchable, he is not exuding the vibe you wished but just an overall obnoxious , getmeawayfromhim vibe.
And of course the DOORMAT FL will eventually fall in love and marry him (or the other way around as in here) , instead of trying every single possibility to get him out of her house/life/whatever.
Dropped obviously.
Waste your time or not it's your choice.

it's unnecessarily long, way too draggy at parts, almost half of the secondary characters just take up screentime and serve no purpose at the overall progress of the plot, very disproportionately written and actually just bad.
A 6/10 would be giving it too much credit already. At times you feel like there is no plot at all, no grand scheme, no revenge on the horizon and no interest in the current moments. There are exactly 4 characters that make the drama go on and eventually reach the ending, you need 1.25x and a TON of skips to be able to tolerate this.
A completely overrated mess.

came to watch it after having dropped it in the past and immediately remembered why, FL's house life is so disgusting it's just appalling to watch.
It's not enough she had to be a mother at such a young age, it's not enough her daughter is getting bullied while also being an ungrateful brat who hates FL, SHE ALSO HAS TO BE A DOORMAT TO HER GARBAGE mother in law and husband.
The whole mother in law torturing FL troupe is overused but at least do it in a family drama of 50/100 episodes or in a romance drama, not a bullying/revenge etc one. we don't have time to care about her trashy mother in law and her lowlife scum husband.

by the way it's indeed a 7/10 Jdrama, meaning 10 episodes x20mins, things just happen without much explanation and feelings go from 0 to 100 pretty fast since there is not much screentime, misunderstandings/obstacles/evil schemes are pretty much minimal and don't derail the plot a lot, just the typical kinda high school (slightly) romantic Jdrama you'd expect, i came mostly because of FL actress and the timetravel plot arc cuz i thought she'd be more badass or well-versed or knowledgeable as most characters act when they travel back in time in Asian Dramaland, that was not the case but since it's so short i thought i'd finish it.

Love at night, you are my hero, well dominated love, begin again, intense love, And for Korean ones i forgot to mention, pretty much anything with Park Min Young, maybe i'm biased because the first drama i ever watched was What's Wrong with secretary Kim.

go there, click on rating so it gets from higher to lower, and check them all.
Note that there are quite a few family dramas 50/100 episode ones, and there are also a lot of medically themed dramas since i like them, there is a complete lack of historic ones because i don't find them interesting, pretty much the same for supernatural ones, and since i've gotten into revenge ones the past couple months they are just starting to pile up (but it's hard to find actual revenge especially in Kdramaland).

18 again, chocolate, crash landing on you, encounter, emergency couple(the leads are a good match, medical theme though), GO BACK COUPLE(similar theme to 18 again , loved both, real romance not just passionate scenes), then i have some with more elements than romance to it, and then romance Chinese dramas, i just wrote what first came to mind from Korean ones (let me know if you want more or the Chinese ones, or romance+revenge etc and i'll check my watchlist)

a very lovely story indeed!
What's intriguing to me is the japanese have no middle ground when it comes to dramas, it's either a super villain or gang/yakuza and whatnot with lots of bloodshed and conspiracies and that , or just a smooth story with close to zero problems/obstacles(i mean no antagonists and stuff, mostly some self healing and loving) . I'm not saying it as a critique, it's just my observation from the limited JDramas i've watched(but a ton of Kdramas and Cdramas).
I enjoyed it, i wouldn't wanna rewatch it ever though, it was just a nice smooth afternoon watch for me.
Nice one, also i agree with a lot of people here, FL's (Kumada Rinka) smile is very cute and addictive!

Title Run On
it's too one-sided from the FL's point of view , so far she's is doing everything to help ML's image, and helping him have a good time, and letting him misunderstand her , while HE is being a complete jerk to her(when he is not indifferent and distant to her).
All that pointless talk about his family and whatnot does not justify at least the first half of the drama being a complete one-sided while being a doormat and wasting time on ML as a Female Lead.
Also there is zero chemistry and will probably be a forced one later on, making it really not wait-worthy, secondary characters that are portrayed as Main here on MDL have close to zero involvement , and barely any screentime let alone learning about them for the first 6 episodes at least.
It's all over the place, it's disproportionately written, and ML's character is completely yikes so far, and it's not like a couple episodes,... also FL is cute, struggling, kind to the point of being a doormat when it comes to ML and others(i.e the professor, her ex's rumors, ML's CEO and father etc.)
It's maybe a 4/10 so far , i can imagine after having watched a ton of dramas, the way some things will be 'saved' and start looking better, how some misunderstandings will be solved, but still i don't think that's enough to keep wasting someone's time on it(i will because i have no life).
My guess is it'll barely reach the 7/10 mark the way it's set up.

1st edit: she is even acting pathetic in front of others too, seriously the embarrassment is too much, like she has zero pride, the only thing left now is to have the FL cry every second scene she appears in . Cringing to the bone. Wish FL's actress career went well or even took off after enduring such a role/script.

2nd edit: it did become better as predicted then it kinda got worse again, there was a hail mary attempt to drag it to 16 episodes, also 3rd party 'obstacles' were unimportant but for some reason got screentime so honestly if it was proportionately written and was a total of 12 episodes i'd rate it 7/10, now with that ending i guess a 6/10 is fair.

On Love Revolution Jun 9, 2023
disappointing to say the least, it's an obsessive guy chasing a girl for the first 10 episodes or so, then it's a complete one sided relationship where that guy is a doormat, secondary characters have no real development apart from one of the girls' one sided love for the SML, then on the 29th(yes 1 episode before the ending) episode the relationship gets pretty real and it stops being one-sided and the FL actually confesses and before we get to enjoy it , 10 mins later we have a random uneventful ending apart from the 5 last seconds where 'supposedly' SML says he can't control his feelings anymore.
So there was zero interest in any of this dramas' events, no romance, no chemistry, FL's character was too stale even if they wanted to make her coldBUTwarm they failed, and pretty much nothing of interest happens, a romantic school drama with start middle and climax/crescendo/ending would have included ALL the things that happened in this(30 episodes) in just 2 45minute ones. That's how pointless this is.
