It would have been nice if they actually used some Koreans even in supporting roles
I bet it didn't even occur to them (Fuji TV or whoever it was who was responsible for the casting). But yeah, it would be nice if they cast a Korean actor, or at least a Japanese actor of Korean descent for the leading role.
What an angsty drama. I love it! I actually like this better than Beyond the Clouds, another Yoon Kye-sang's melodrama which seems to be better rated here on MDL.
Thank you, Ceki. By the way, the description about On the Way to the Airport made me laugh: "Watch it if you're into . . . cheating." I'm not into cheating, thank you very much, but I'd watch it anyway :D.
Soseki Natsume's Wife and Teacher Gappa! sound interesting. Now, if only someone would sub them *fingers crossed*
This drama left me feeling kind of weird. I liked everyone except the lead actor. LOL. he sucked!! every one else…
I like Katori Shingo, you see, but you are right. In terms of acting, he's really not as good as Ueno Juri and Nishida Toshiyuki. With a better actor who could portray Daisuke's struggle more effectively, I think the drama would've been even better.
Thanks for the article. By the way, can we make "classic" drama reviews a regular feature on MDL? It'd be great to be introduced to older dramas that are good, but not quite popular.
Thanks for the rec. These dramas sound so delicious!
I've been meaning to watch The Battle of Changsha for some time, but it's not a light watch at all, so I'm still waiting for the right time to immerse myself in it.
Thanks for writing this. The only drama I've watched on this list is 18 vs 29, but when it comes to "second chance at romance", I'd recommend Alone in Love. It's quite different from the dramas mentioned in this article, though, because rather than seeing a couple rekindled their relationship after falling out of love, the OTP in Alone in Love is obviously still in love with each other but decided to divorce despite of it, and the question of why they broke up formed an important strand in the story.
Good first episode. I hope they will focus more on the work side. I'm just dreading the babysitter part it seems…
My sentiments exactly. Why do they have to go with the "nanny seduces her employer" angle? If they want to explore the growing tension in their relationship after she returned to the workplace, her having trouble keeping house and taking care of their child should be enough to focus on, I think.
Thanks for writing this. Seeing his dramas, he does have quite a remarkable output despite his limited acting range. I personally enjoy Nagase's work when he's playing comedic, hilarious characters, and not so much when he's playing more serious roles.
I've heard nothing but praises about Saigo Kara Nibanme no Koi. Since they're making the Korean adaptation, now would be a good time to catch up and watch the original before this version airs--that's what I'm going to do, at least.
