Ok, it’s a slice of life kdrama and I liked it enough to rate it a 7.0. The minimal romance scenes felt extremely lacking for me but I’m glad PBY only attempted chemistry with PJY as Miji and not as Mirae. The implied route of the latter was much appreciated. PBY is especially cute but the way she played the twins seemed subpar compared to the teen actress’s portrayal. I look forward to watching more of LJI’s projects in the future.
The Miji character overcoming her childhood trauma was good but the creepiness factor of Mirae’s adult work life storyline with that male co-worker didn’t wrap up well enough. I mean, they sure did try to heighten the severity of the situation by making the creep look like someone from her past but maybe it was PBY’s “I don’t care” acting at the end that made it seem like an afterthought she shouldn’t have spent so much time getting depressed about?
The mothers and grandma were solid storylines and I would recommend this show mainly for them. As for PJY, this may be the 2nd works that I’ve watched of his (the other from Yumi’s cell) and was finally impressed with his acting. I’m wondering if he has any good romances for me to consider
I was waiting to pick this kdrama back up closer to its airing end and tried a few times to re-start Epi6 but realized I had lost interest in this ML couple, which I originally hoped the chemistry would be great with the cuteness of GMS and hilarity of KHN. Also, these recent MDL comments confirmed that the romance is very minimalistic in sizzle next to the plates of delicious looking food dishes and I saw myself dropping this kdrama to a 7.0 rating
From human to hostage! What an upgrade! Squee! Bwahaha!
Why is this Jdrama so heartwarmingly good and hilarious?! I had never seen the og version and started this jversion with low expectations after coming across an AP review on the MDL homepage. The 1st episode hooked me with comedy, the 2nd epi was on a more serious note but moved so quickly that I was thankful to continue until the 6th episode.
Now I’m in agony waiting on new episodes of AP and NUN,MB. These two ongoing jdramas are now at the top of all RomComs for me in mid-2025 with the most adorable ML Couples! I love how J-actors have normal colored skin (non-washed-out-makeup) and amazing facial micro expressions that are untouched by cosmetic surgery. So refreshing after decades of dedicated kdrama watching!
Bwahaha! This was my 1st Thai movie and it was epically hilarious with the comedic timing. Definitely my cup of tea and would recommend with multiple rewatches, 9.5 rating! I’ve only watched a few Thai dramas and would love more similar to TCH, please send me reccs if you’re familiar of any good shows! 🥹
Bwahaha! The 1st Epi was so hilarious! My favorite show quote ever is “Men fall in love easily because they mistake their erection with their beating heart. I don’t have a penis so this must be my heart beating.” Bwahaha!
I’m still waiting on the release of NUN,MB’s Epi4 (that period jdrama is so addicting, why did I start it while it’s ongoing?!) and can’t help but binge watch Honda Kyoya’s prior works. He has that certain kind of “old world masculine charm” in his facial features that fit so well with period drama MLs and I was hoping to see a glimpse of it in this SC drama. Not the case here.
I liked the beginning premise of the angsty contention between the main couple but the side stories of superficial-feeling love triangle and evil side character ruined the rest of this time-slip drama. The FL character was a grown woman in her late 20s who was stunted emotionally as a teenager over a love rejection. To the point where she couldn’t move on “love-wise” and had the opportunity to re-do her high school days as an immature grown woman. Apparently she didn’t have enough life experiences and had to traverse the time-slip with odd decision making. Also, I don’t remember if ML character explained his mean love rejection to FL. She may have overheard it when he was telling his middle school friend? Maybe it happened but I spent too much time FF lol
This jdrama version is definitely much cuter than the kdrama due to the Japanese MLs fitting their age appropriate roles better with their nice facial features and acting micro expresssions. I watched WWSB without English subs and rate it an 8. I’ll definitely re-watch again and re-rate later. Please send me Eng subs if you have a good link. TIA!
I’m so glad to have discovered this jdrama on a YT edit because this period couple is super adorable with their inexperienced and overthinking thoughts! I find myself laughing and gushing over their subtle interactions as they grow closer together. Some of the subtitles are whack but not difficult to catch the gist.
While I was watching this, I kept wondering where I had seen this handsome ML and sure enough, he was the photographer in Animals (which I loved a few years back)! He seems to have quite a few projects under his belt since then. Guess I’ll have to browse while waiting for new episodes
How did I not know about this jdrama until yesterday — which is based on an adaptation of my 1st Japanese song that I continuously listened to in my late teens of ‘99 ?! Those poignant “First Love” lyrics (although foreign in language to me as a Vietnamese American) were reminiscently angsty of a cherished first love that I could relate with as an angsty teenager in love. Now I can pair that music nostalgia with this angsty romance drama of a couple’s first love and their constant sufferings of being apart yet finding their way back together? Squee!
Recommended watch, it’s a 10 and re-watch material! I loved every bit of this love story between the main leads, especially their younger versions (those young actors portrayed innocent love so well). The side characters were mostly good, except for the side fling and the ex’s evil mother. I seriously would’ve given them less screen time if I was the writer lol. I never became a writer but I’m a hopeless romantic!
While I was in a young and immature love relationship with my “then-boyfriend-now-husband”, I would clearly have angsty imaginations of us being pulled in opposite directions with the tides of our life choices and the gripping pain those thoughts would have on my heart. Alternatively, and relentlessly through life’s trials and tribulations, our relationship bloomed beautifully well for my Hubby and I — as well as with our 5 adorable children. All glory to our Holy Jesus Christ and Savior for His bountiful blessings!
I completed this cdrama by skipping through a lot of the side characters. The ML and 2ML couples were what made me stay with the storyline. I’ve never seen any of their works before and will try to watch their latest projects next. Props to them for keeping the romance fluffy without evil parents, love triangles and tragic accidents. I’m little annoyed that we didn’t get more of the 2ML’s love confession but the ending trip scenes made up for it. Rated 8 and recommend to watch at least once. I’ll be looking up short clips of their singing, my favorite being the last duet of the MLs
1st episode was cute! I was craving an enemies-to-lover trope and this corporate-money-hustling-arrogant ML and small-town-passionate-sassy-chef FL keeps me intrigued. I love KHN’s take on this annoyingly jerky character — I’m sure he was cringing at himself the whole time he was acting. This is the 1st time I’ve seen GMS’s acting and she’s fitting the role so far. Looking forward to more epis
Urm, 1st Epi started off weirdly but the cute kid and his failed mischievous pranks at the end helped save it by a smidge. The FL looks cute but the ML’s acting is hilariously bad. Not sure if it’ll intrigue me enough to continue. Holding for now
How to move on when SY is the Simpiest Simp of all fictional time?! I’ve been re-watching clips of MLs on YT, they’re so cute together. I didn’t even know the details of this show until a few weeks back and didn’t expect to love the slow burn. The side plots were mid but I can overlook by skipping past their stories. I can’t wait to see BJT’s next projects because I’ve seen 5 of his works and they were so good. Might give AOTM and NTL a try next. As for ZRN, this was the first time I’ve watched her work. Wonder if she’s got any other dramas with great chemistry like TFF?
I started HEA because SSK is such a cutie pie, but not even his flirtatious eye smiles could keep me interested past Episode 4. I’m dropping this kdrama for its nonsensically off-putting plot about their version of a heaven that allows room for failure and damnation. I tried to give this fictional show a benefit of doubt with an outstretched imagination, only to be left speechless at how an “unclean” steps into gates of a pure Heaven and commits additional sins against the good people in Heaven! What is the point of this so-called heaven being portrayed for these characters who have immense feelings of self-doubt, jealousy and fear between the MLs?
As you can see, I’m Christian biased because my personal beliefs are of Heaven being a pure place of eternal reward and I can’t help but detest this kdrama’s framework. Gave it a 4 rating and bidding SSK’s masculine features a farewell until his next project
I found this on YT by accident. This cute little short movie on introverts was an intense slow burn yet equally riveting! If it were any longer and 18 minutes, I’m sure my pillow would have ripped in half! 🥰
Thanks to those that recc'd me this Cdrama after dropping ERL Cdrama. I liked the first half of this couple's storyline about healing and patience but the last half of the romance fell flat for me. Somehow the female Lead's character felt disconnected with her yo-yo-ing moments of feigned happiness and deep depression over a failed relationship. I liked her in Perfect & Casual Cdrama but not so much in this one. As for the male Lead, it was the 1st time I've watched him in a drama and would say that he fit this TCM character well -- minus the skateboarding attempts. My favorite character was the FL's Mother, the way that storyline was humbly portrayed by the actress was done perfectly. I gave this an 8 out of 10 but will not be re-watching
